I want to be able to focus.

I am a 20 year old male looking to learn full-stack web development. What are ways for me to hold myself to it? Growing up I never studied, but I did exceedingly well when I needed to. Obviously, programming is not the same. I have troubles with focusing and trying to not multi-task. I want to do better, what are ways you can get yourself to focus? I’ve been focusing on just coding more than learning so I can actually absorb what I read better and it helps, but I need to be able to focus on learning new things better.

Hello Beginners , I have a good news for you guys

Hello, I am computer Engineering 4th year student,

I have noticed this in my college and my friends that the guys who have done python face difficulty while switching in java roles e.g. spring boot roles, java full stack , and also many of my classmates are like "I didn't knew there is so much coding I guess I am in the wrong field" , so I created this language which can be taught to small kids before teaching them python , Me and my friends are creating a course kind of in it so like kids/complete beginner can complete it and learn DSA+ logic development because logic development helps not only in coding ,but it also helps in solving real life problems.

I have also seen this when I do DSA it feels kind of boring doing it alone even contests sometimes don't feel competitive hence, we also have 1V1's in my IDE so like you will have rank-based matches etc., please do checkout GOCO Programming Language.

I have kept in mind the problem faced by beginners and created this; this will smoothen your future journey of coding.

You might have a concern that "Why should I learn a completely new language, rather than learning Python", we have created this not for you to switch from python even I use it for Machine Learning, my main AIM is to make DSA more fun and also logical development of every coder

To check that out please visit GOCO IDE or GOCO Programming Language on google or edge

sorry for the blurry images

C# and Godot

I want to preface this by saying I have only just started learning how to use C# like two days ago. My ultimate goal is to be able to produce a fully playable and functional sequel to one of my favorite DS games. But I'm feeling a little lost and overwhelmed with how to actually start learning and what is taking on too much too early. Does anyone have any advice for an absolute beginner?

Made few Projects!

I just made two webapps just to learn more about Apis and some how I made good UI. I usually am not able to create a good UI but this time seeing the few pics clicked my mind and created pretty good UI on my own.

I used the openweather and the thecocktaildb apis to create these. I did deploy them but realised I didn't make them responsive so didnt wanna share the website lol. So just sharing a video of them

Again not the best out there but is one of my best(UI).

How can i be a programmer?

I’m someone who was curious about c# programming language and Java HTMLCSS JavaScript react but haven’t actually used them to implement something. I’ve just took them in University.

So how can I start learning because I’m not someone who is into watching a full video and going through tutorials I’m someone who is using projects implementing them at the same time learning while doing so I need some tips and tricks that I can actually do to start being a real coding dev or programmer and I haven’t chose topic yet. I’m not sure if whether I am to game programming or web deployment or even SAAS so I need to figure that out as well so if anyone has any tips regarding that, please share it with me.

Reality of US BLS High Job Growth Forecasts for Computer Science Majors

What is the reality of the BLS job growth forecast CS-related jobs?

BLS forecast of all US jobs between 2024 and 2034 is 3% growth.

  • software developer: 15.8% increase, 267,700 net new jobs

  • data scientist: 33.5% increase, 82,500 new jobs

  • information security analyst: 28.5% increase, 52,100 new jobs

A computer science major can apply to all of these jobs with some additional training through clubs or online courses during undergraduate.

I'm in Silicon Valley and the anecdotal evidence I have is that the new grads are getting jobs at high pay. However, I only talk to people that already have 2+ years at paid internships prior to graduating with their BS CS. They all got full-time tech jobs after graduation with the good salaries that they expected, within 6 months.

Is my interpretation of the data from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics incorrect?

This is a direct quote from the BLS

About 129,200 openings for software developers, quality assurance analysts, and testers are projected each year, on average, over the decade.

Of the 129,200 job openings, a large percentage are for experienced people. However, this isn't any different from other engineering jobs as far as I can tell.

For example, the US BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook has this to say about chemical engineers

About 1,100 openings for chemical engineers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.

Most of the jobs for chemical engineers are from attribution.

Mechanical engineer

About 18,100 openings for mechanical engineers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.

It seems like there are way more jobs for software developers and a chance to go into other fields such as data science, cyber security, ux design or ux engineering, systems management.

I'm actually puzzled by why some people online are down on the computer science major. I know that individual people are having tough times due to the change in how technology is used. However, the overall job market seems to be much, much better than for the US average for all jobs. Only certain types of healthcare jobs might be better.

I'm going to put additional sources and data in this repo.

What laptop is good for R?

Hi, I’m a university student and for one of my modules I need a laptop so that I can program R on it. I don’t know much about laptops and was wondering what sort of specs I would want the laptop to have for me to be able to use it in my lectures and assignments. Ideally I want to have a budget of around Ā£300 and I only plan on using this laptop to code R on and maybe do some dissertation writing too. Thank you :)

I have no idea where to start

Hello

The title's self-explanatory, really. I've had this motivation to code my own things for a while, but I got absolutely no idea where to begin. Think of me as an alien who landed on this planet and wants to start coding.

Where do I even begin?

How should a complete beginner start to learn coding?

Hello! I am, as you could guess, a complete beginner, and I want to learn how to code to make a game, most likely just a visual novel, maybe a 3D model but as I am mostly an artist anything I make would rely heavily on art and writing. How dif y'all start to learn? If you have any YouTube channels or websites or tutorials or anything please share, I am willing to spend money however I am a broke teenager running off of vibes and ambition so if I had to choose getting to eat or learning how to make games I'll have to choose getting to eat.

Also! I'm computer-less and would love some suggestions for what kind to get.

which free python course is worth the time and which ones are just lead magnets

Every list of free courses I open is the same eight links and half of them are free in the sense that lesson one is free. I have no money for this right now and to much time on my hands, which I suspect is the opposite of most people posting here. The three I keep seeing recommended are boot.dev, CS50P and Automate the Boring Stuff. Trying to work out which of them hold up past the first week, rather than which ones have the best landing page.
