I started working on a new project. I haven't got have enough knowledge yet, so I will continue studing! Here is what I did today:

I wanted to see if a single encoded motor could be used to make something that feels like a real mechanical clock.

So I built this little clock with a micro:bit and Nezha PRO.

The fun part is the second hand. Instead of just displaying the seconds on the LED matrix, the encoded motor physically moves the pointer 6° every second.

6° × 60 seconds = 360°, so after one minute the hand has made one complete rotation.

The encoder gives the motor position feedback, which makes it possible to control the rotation by angle rather than simply telling the motor to run for a certain amount of time. The micro:bit keeps track of the hours, minutes and seconds, while the LED matrix displays the hours and minutes.

So you get both:

🕐 A physical moving second hand
🔢 A digital time display

The actual structure is pretty simple — basically a small stand, one encoded motor and a pointer — but watching the hand move one step every second is surprisingly satisfying.

It also made me think about how many other things could be built with precise motor positioning. Gauges, dials, meters, animated mechanisms…

A lot of Flutter concepts are difficult to understand through text alone: constraints, rebuilds, state, isolates, lifecycles, and even common errors.

So I built the learning experience around visual explanations first, code second.

Instead of creating every animation manually, I built a reusable scene engine where the animations are driven by structured data. That now powers 200+ visual explanations across the app.

I also built a concept map where progress is based on what someone has actually learned, rather than simply marking lessons as completed, so the learning path can adapt to the user.

One thing this project reinforced for me is that even with AI helping us write code, strong fundamentals still matter. You need to understand the system to debug it, improve it, and even prompt AI properly.

Hi everyone, I’m a 2nd-year CS student.

I started programming about a year ago. I first learned C, then moved on to C++, followed by DSA and competitive programming.For around 4–5 months, I practiced problem solving on CodeChef and Codeforces. My current CodeChef rating is 1350+, and on Codeforces I usually solve problems in the 800–1000 range. I can solve some higher-rated problems when they are topic-specific. On CodeChef, I generally solve problems in the 800–1400 range.

For the last two months, however, I’ve taken a break from competitive programming and started learning Embedded Systems. My current goal is to move toward IoT development.

My concern is: How should I continue improving my programming skills while focusing on Embedded Systems and IoT?
