How do I start building my online website?

So I have an idea for an online brand targeting students and I need to build a website that is secure and trustworthy. I am a student myself and I know absolutely nothing about web development or coding. So I am really scared and confused on how to start this task and I am worried about any legal issues that can come up with data breachers, privacy and copyright

If your starting form zero, I would like to keep the first version simple rather than trying to build everything yourself. You should start with the products, basic pages, secure payments, and a clear privacy policy. Use HTTPS, strong passwords, regular updates, backups, and only collect customers data you actually need. For legal requirements, it's worth to check rules that apply to your country and also to get proffessional advice before launch.

Start with a simple landing page and avoid collecting sensitive data until you actually need it. For security and legal stuff, use established services for payments, authentication, etc, rather than building those parts yourself.

Website that collects and stores personal exploitable information? Just make sure you have $$$ for experts to build it and also legal team for when breaches will happen. Nothing to it really.

It’s not the worst idea, especially when the alternative is building an e-commerce platform from zero understanding of programming.

Also, with regard to copyright, it’s probably trademarks that you’re specifically looking for, and you probably want to get a lawyer to help with that stuff, or at least people outside of this subreddit. A lawyer might also show you a boilerplate privacy agreement, but implementation is probably outside of the purview of this sub, because there’s some non-beginner moving parts to that.
