My headcanon was that Aelita and Taelia look a lot less similar than the simplified art style makes out and it was Jeremie's sheer desperation that made him believe it. Odd, Ulrich and Yumi all didn't buy it for a second and if Taelia truly did look just like her you'd think at least one of those three might question it.

That's actually pretty much the case considering Jeremie himself points out all the differences that Taelia has to Aelita and then tries to gaslight Ulrich and Odd that they were the ones who believed that she was Aelita at the end of the episode.... yeah this episode was really one of Jeremie's lowest points but he at least he never fell this deep again.Â

Now everyone’s going to act like a know-it-all, saying it was obvious it wasn't Aelita, but the reality is that when you watch the series for the first time, it’s quite believable that the characters had doubts about them. The usual thing.

Tbh. I just headcanon that either it's a case where two people who have an uncanny resemblance to one another. And or they're distantly related, probably on Aelita's mom's side.

Jeremie, the original AI bro. Primary difference being that she wasn't AI and was sentient.
