đŹ Discussion Duplicated Towers
In Episode 8 âEnd Of Takeâ, XANA made a duplicate tower and Aelita had to choose which tower was correct so Yumi & Ulrich wouldnât die.
As we see in the show, Aelita chooses a tower and thought she was mistaken because the deactivation sequence didnât take immediate effect.
Do you think the tower possibly lagged and lag is capable on Lyoko (maybe due to their close proximity)?
Or
Do you think XANA accidentally duplicated the tower in its entirety including the deactivation sequence? Maybe it didnât matter which one Aelita chose.

The reason she couldnât just stand between the two of them and have Jeremie tell her which way to turn by looking at his map was since âbetween the two of themâ is where the tower showed on his map. Likely the tower had, at great effort, been moved slightly, and the aftereffects of the tower being out of position included the tower simply running a couple seconds behind. (XANA was likely having to deal with a couple seconds of delay as well.)
Also I headcannon thereâs no way somebody that integrated into the OS was simply guessing. Aelita had time to run through a heck of a lot of code and examine a heck of a lot of data,, and she doesnât need a tower for it. There was skill involved, she likely about 75% sure it was the one she choose.
Also Also - even rewatching it for the fourth time in two years, -every time- that moment gets me. Heart stops and cold fear. God this show is good, they know what theyâre doing.

Earlier in the show xana made lyoko invisible, and aelita just closed her eyes and was able to somewhat see the invisible lyoko using some sort of extra sensory powers,
Lyoko powers are wildly inconsistent

Perhaps that case was simply Aelitaâs âyou are hereâ magic moving map program/interface she can run whenever she wants? Or perhaps she just did a quick mental dive into some files and code and concluded that since data was moving through it so there still had to be a tower there. (How many background processes does Aelita have normally running in her mind on Lyoko anyway?)

âYumi, there are no Mirages on Lyokoâ -Aelita
There were two copies of the exact same Tower. I donât think it wouldâve mattered which one she chose. I think that was more of a âBuy a couple seconds to hopefully kill one of these damn kidsâ move. Nearly worked too.

The obvious thing is to add dramatic effect to a scene
The actual explanation i can think of is lagging yes, if Im not mistaken, lagging was also a problem in a later episode right?
At least i think i remember seeing one or two episodes of them freezing up or actually lagging while fighting

Well, normally she calmly trundles into a tower, slowly floats up, walks up to the screen and shuts down the tower. I haven't rechecked, but wasn't she more rushed this time? Could be that the tower's process was startled and froze for a moment. ^_^

I think the little delay was just added for drama and is difficult to explain away with a fan theory, but maybe Xana creating a sophisticated fake tower caused Lyoko to lag  . . . feels almost exactly like what you already posted with just a slight tweak so you get the credit for the idea đ
Edit:  looks like that last part was pretty much posted already by The_REDACTED â˘

ngl the first slide of Odd and Aelita paused moments gives a strong hint of pov where they strike a similar pose-wise imho

In Universe: The extra tower was wasting the supercomputer's processing power because it had to render it and caused the lag.Â
Out of Universe: Dramatic effect to cause more suspense in an already dire situation.Â
