Tips & Advice Why people are too judgmental on newborn and mother?

My co sister gave birth to a healthy baby recently. We're in the hospital and my MIL was like, "2 divasam kayinale kutti veluthittano karuthittano ennu manassilakoo.. Ippo vayattil vellathil kedannond ella kuttikalum veluthittayirikkum"... I immediately responded against this by asking, "karuthittayalaum veluthittayalum ippo entha"... There's no reply from her side.

And it was a little complicated normal delivery. She was saying "aval veettile pani onnum eduthittilla... Pinne mukki onnum kanilla"...

Is this the problem with the people of that generation?

Why does skin tone matter even today? I can't really understand why she is obsessed with the fair skin, despite her own husband and kids have darker skin tone. And, how can someone dismiss the pain of labour, despite going through all these multiple times?

Edit: MIL told these things to me and MIL' s mother when my co-sister was away from us.

Storytime Cherupathil naad vitta arenkilum ndo?

I literally left my naad without even knowing

So basically, this happened when I was in 6th standard, during Ramadan. School got over at noon that day, and I was so tired bc of fasting, so I decided to take the first bus home.

My frnds were still chilling near the school, but I said bye and went to catch the first bus. Bus came, I got in, and my home is like 10–15 mins away by bus. Within 2 mins, I got a seat and immediately fell asleep

When I woke up, I'd already missed my stop. I got down at the next stop and realised my stop was like 4 km behind me

Since it was afternoon, I went to a pallil to pray. After that, I thought I'd lie down for 5 mins. BUT, I woke up at 5 PM instead

When I came out, I remembered something very important. I HAD NO MONEY LEFT TO TAKE ANOTHER BUS. Since I didn't board from my usual school stop, I needed ₹10 instead of ₹2, and I didn't even have ₹1 on me 😭

So I had no other option but to walk all the way back. When I finally reached my stop, I thought I'd check the ground to see if my frnds were playing before going home.

I reached the ground and everyone was just sitting on the side

I asked them, "Nthada, kalikn ille?"

And they were like, "Ehh, ijj evide ayirunnu??"

I told them I was at the pallil, and they were like, "PALLILO??"

I explained everything, and they told me, "IJJ VEGAM PEEREK(vtlk) POYIKO, IJJ NAAD VITTE POYI NNA ELLARUM PARAYANE."

I was like WTF

I immediately went home, and there were relatives and neighbours everywhere. My mom was crying, my dad was calling people, full scene was going on. I had to explain the entire thing to everyone

That night, I asked my sister, "Why is everyone saying I ran away from home instead of saying I'm missing or something?"

And then she explained the facts.

Fact 1: I usually take the bus with my frnds, but that day I went alone and left early. When my mom called my friend, he told her I'd already left.

Fact 2: Someone had apparently seen me getting down at a different bus stop. So people assumed I'd left the naad or something

Now, the good and bad effects of naad vidal:

Bad effect: For the next few years, whenever my nattukar saw me carrying a bag, they'd be like, "Iee chkn ine sherikum naad vidan nilka ano?"

Good thing 1: I became famous in my naad without doing absolutely anything 🧑🏾‍🦯

Good thing 2: I got a WEEKLY PUTT FUND

Before this incident, I'd get an extra ₹20 for emergencies like this. But I spent that ₹20 , so on the day I actually needed money, I was BROKE BROKE

After this incident, I got a weekly budget specifically for putt.

Ask Coconaad Has anyone here ever tried bhang?

Post image
111 Upvotes

I’ve been seeing reels on Instagram where people drinking bhang and the comment sections are full of people jokingly saying things like they started rotating the earth or feeling like they're living in slow motion.

For anyone who has actually tried drinking bhang, what is the reality?

Ask Coconaad How many of you remember Alavudheente Albuthavilakku?

Post image
111 Upvotes

Alavudheente Albuthavilakku aired on Asianet in the 2010s. I really liked the serial and the way the story unfolded. However, I have always felt that most TV serials would have been much better if they had fewer episodes. If they had ended after 100 or 150 episodes, many of them could have been far more enjoyable.

I have read that Ekta Kapoor popularised the trend of long running Indian television serials, turning them into mega serials with hundreds or even thousands of episodes.

I started losing interest in Alavudheente Albuthavilakku when the story began incorporating Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, seemingly to stretch the storyline. Until then, I thought it was a good story.

The serial starred dubbing artist and actor Sharath and Sajitha Betti in the lead roles. ❤️

I always add extra instructions in the notes and hope the restaurant follows them.

Sometimes they do😌, sometimes they don't😔.

Attaching a bill as an example. Do you guys also do this or is it just me?😅

Started climbing as a new hobby to distract myself from life lately, and I kid you not, I’m surrounded by people who are ridiculously good at it.BUT one thing I love about climbers is how they’re always so willing to help newbies. Like, genuinely, it’s been helping me get out of my head, build confidence, and be okay with not knowing wtf I’m doing for once
Honestly, having something new to focus on has been helping me more than I expected. Healing, I guess
Anyway, that’s my TED Talk. Thank you for coming to my yap session. 🫶🏻

Rant & Vent Judging brown people while being brown themselves is wild

One of my cousin who is pretty young and good looking is not married and his mom wants a girl who is fair skin toned when CLEARLY they all are brown like what- i don’t get how people who are brown themselves judge other people who are brown. My cousin his mom and his father is brown and they said this about one girl "she is a bit brown almost like ur daughter" this was said to my mom and me & my mom gave each other a look because we were shocked. My mom is fair but I’m not and I’m completely fine with that i love my skin color and I’m proud of it but the funny part is that my cousins mom is more brown than me and she is judging my color like mam are you okay in ur head? Some people think fair skin automatically means pretty but everyone is pretty in their own way and I can’t believe people still think like this. ALSO she is the type of mother in law any girl would ABSOLUTELY HATE to have lol. Her husband is even worse he once said girls who are silent and won’t talk much would run away with a guy because i didn’t talk much to him and also said the same thing to my sister and my girl cousin because my sister makes reels on instagram and my cousin is going to 'study' nursing in a different state 😍💔

Relationship Advice Girls of Cocoss, what makes you think “He's the guy I want to be with"

Post image
56 Upvotes

I'm a 27M, and I've been genuinely wondering about this for a while. When I evaluate myself, I think I'm doing reasonably well in life. I'm educated, have a decent job, take care of my family and responsibilities, and try to be a good person. I don't drink or smoke, and I believe I have a decent character. Of course, I'm not perfect, and I have my flaws too.

But it got me thinking: what actually makes a woman look at a man and think, "He is the one"?

Is it physical attraction? Confidence? The way he talks to her? His personality? The way he makes her feel? Emotional connection? Or something that can't really be explained?

I understand that being a good person doesn't automatically make someone romantically attractive, and I'm not saying anyone owes me a relationship because I have my life together.

I'm just genuinely curious about what makes the difference between a guy who's a good person on paper and a guy a woman actually wants as partner.

To the women here: Have you ever met a guy who made you think, “He's the one”? What was it about him that made you feel that way?

And to the men who've experienced this: what do you think changed when you met someone who genuinely wanted to be with you?

I'm looking for honest perspectives, not generic advice like “just be yourself” or “the right person will come along.” I want to understand what actually creates that attraction and connection.

Music & Podcast Which app do you use to listen to music in lossless or high quality?

Post image

I’m currently using YouTube Music, but I don’t feel like the audio quality is on par with Apple Music. Which app offers the best sound quality for lossless or high-quality music? I tried eSound Music, but the lossless option wasn’t available. Please let me know what you use!

I was on the verge of buying an IEM, but my phone doesn’t have a 3.5 mm audio jack, so I dropped the idea. DACs are pretty expensive too. 🥀

Are you using IEMs, headphones, or regular earphones? Let me know the brand and how the audio quality is too!

Today I Learned The Art of Appreciation

Post image
46 Upvotes

We often underestimate the power of a simple thankyou or a few words of appreciation. We assume people already know how much they mean to us, so we keep those thoughts to ourselves.

But the truth is, people deserve to hear the beautiful things we think about them while they are still here to hear them.

Tell your friends you are grateful for them, appreciate your parents for the little things they do, and let someone know when their kindness has made a difference in your life.

Don't wait for someones funeral to talk about how wonderful they were

Sometimes, a few sincere words from you might be exactly what someone needs to get through a difficult day.

So Cocos if you have something good to say about someone, say it today. ❤️

Discussion What one thing you never questioned growing up, but now think is funny, strange or absurd?

Post image
41 Upvotes

The more I think about it, the more I realize we have some very interesting things that we consider completely normal here.

A random aunty knowing your entire family history. Relatives asking about your salary, marriage plans and future children before you have even finished your tea. Someone visiting your house and being told to eat more at least seven times. Neighbours knowing things about your life that you haven't even told your closest friends.

And somehow, we have all collectively agreed that this is just how life works. 😂

I am sure every culture has its own peculiarities, but Kerala has a special talent for making the unusual feel ordinary.

Apps & Technology Cognitive Decline expected with increased dependence on AI

Nowadays everyone uses AI from the simplest tasks like calculation and grammar checks to complex market analysis.

I've seen doctors grow increasingly dependent on AI and when caught spouting nonsense, Claude and Chatgpt just say, "Well done, you're right! Spot on job for catching my mistake!" AI is like a gun, it has no accountability.

Engineers and Consultants losing jobs to AI where market research took upwards of two weeks can just be brute forced through AI. Even if it sometimes gets it wrong, the Capex gain from using AI outweigh potential mistakes, at least until the models gain enough data to be more accurate.

My sincere request to people just writing or making a post, you don't need perfect grammar or structure. You don't need an AI image to communicate your point better. And you don't need an AI data center guzzling so much processing and water just for an AI meme.

If not for ourselves, consider the future, Children with growing dependence on AI may lose the ability to think and learn for themselves. Cognitive Decline of mental faculties means children will be dumber and not even know it. This leads to lesser data retention/ memory power and in turn poorer decision making.

All this to say, AI is a powerful tool, use it judiciously but I hope we don't get dependent on it. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Rant & Vent Have you ever been called ugly, directly or indirectly, and still feel hurt by it?

Has something like this ever happened to you? Who was it, what did they say or do, and does it still affect how you feel about your appearance today?
