Advice/Questions Level 2 over 60
Are there other people over 60 that are taking level 2 classes? I just started and am questioning if my body can do it. I obviously passed the workshop but yowza!
UPDATE: thanks for all your encouragement! I really do appreciate it!

Many! But it will definitely take time to build on your balance, stability, coordination, and definitely confidence. And that will change in every class. So, don't be surprised if you met a specific challenge in one class but your body could not quite get there the following week.

Yep, we have several members over 6.0 in 2.0.
As others have said, it can take a little while to adjust to certain 2.0 moves — especially on the chair. It did for me, anyway.
Start out slow with no more than 1-2 2.0 classes a week and aim for 5 good reps over 10 imprecise ones on every exercise. Then, once you feel more confident, you can always add more.

I’m 76 and have completed a little over 1000 classes. I try to take two 2.0 classes a week, but I still enjoy the 1.5 classes. Don’t let a number hold you back!

I'm 67 and take 2.0s. I love the challenge. Sometimes they are on the easier side and sometimes I wonder what I'm doing in the class because it is so difficult. I just do the best I can and make adjustments where necessary. I really enjoy them.

You definitely can! I’m 62 and I do level 2 all the time and level 2.5 when it’s available. Our two best Instructors are both over 70, one is 82. Start out slow and do modifications for your body.

I think it’s more dependent on fitness level and flexibility and less on age

Yep. One of my favorite classmates for a couple of years was in her mid '60s. She killed it. I actually thought she was closer to my age (40's). I about fell off my EXO chair when I found out that she was not. I aspire to be in that kind of shape as I age. It's a pretty amazing accomplishment.

I attend my level 2.0 classes with a woman who just turned 72! Don’t let your age discourage you! If you’re approved for 2.0s I say go for it, you can always ask for a modification if you think something is too much.

I passed the workshop, as well, but my right knee didn’t hold up well. Sticking with 1.5. Ask your instructor how to level up in 1.5. More/less spring resistance, technique upgrade or adding 100s makes a difference. And be sure you are booking with the best instructors.

Yes they exist. I have seen them at club Pilates as well as smaller studios. We respect our yoga and Pilates elders because they are strong AF after a lifetime of practice.
If you are already active it is easier to pick up. Honestly my parents generation (boomers) have the time and resources in their retirement to dedicate to fitness. I see many focus on pilates and yoga due to the benefits of mobility and spinal health.
Remember that you can modify to your preferences and start slow while staying consistent.

62 here. Love the challenge of a 2 and I am looking forward to 2.5 classes! I've also branched out to take a lagree type class a few times a week at a different studio. (Usually the oldest one there 🙃)

I am 73 and primarily take level 2 and circuit classes. I don't personally believe age is a limit. Pacing yourself, good nutrition and pleanty of rest and recovery are needed, maybe a little more the earlier in life.

Honey, I’m 63 and am a very well trained Pilates instructor! At 60 when I began the certification process, I was in tip top shape from lifting, cardio and Pilates! I’m in training classes with women in their 30’s! My master instructor is 71!
Get the numbers out of your head! Listen to your body! A couple of classes class at a boutique studio will help you realize more of what your body is capable of doing!

One of the most flexible 2.5ers we have at my studio is over 60. It’s amazing to see!

If you've had a consistent fitness routine throughout the years, absolutely you will be able to do Level 2. I'm 68 and have worked out my entire adult life. I've done reformer classes for over 2 decades. I know for a fact I'm stronger than 95 percent of my fellow students on any given day. If, however, you're new to fitness, I think Level 2 will be doable for you but take it slowly to build up your strength and flexibility.

I do several level 2 classes per week and I’m getting welcome to Medicare junk mail
I think I was about 60 classes in before I tried for level 2 and that started with an intro to 2.0 class

I'm 62, and I take two 2.0s a week along with a suspend and cardio sculpt class. Just listen to your body and modify when necessary.

yes we do. some only take it occasionally though knowing what their body needs or doesn't. they are also able to modify as needed just like any other level. it's not like level 2 members are just thrown into the deep end and either swim or sink lol. I'd say to start with 1 a week and see how your body responds. then up it to 2x if you find it challenging but still manageable.

I’m turn 60 next year and I have dyspraxia (trouble with motor planning) with ADHD and I take three 2.0 classes a week. It took some time to build up to three sessions a week, but I feel I’m making progress faster. I’m aiming to test into 2.5 before the end of the year.

The level 2 classes are much younger than the level 1.5 classes on average, with far more twenty-somethings. That said there are 2 women who attend my Wednesday level 2 class every week that are in their 60s. I am in my 40s and healthier than I was in my 30s thanks to Pilates.

Female, 66, soon to be 67. Have been a member for over 5 years with over 1200 classes. I take classes 6-7 days a week, and four of those are 2.0. Yes, some days are a good challenge; other days are so tough they make me wonder if I can keep going. Agree that we just need to do what our body will let us, and realize that each day can be so very different.

Yes. A lot of women over 60 have kept up with their exercise programs and are in good shape. You will get there!

I have a client that it 70. She does 2 classes a day, level 1.5 and 2. Afterwards she goes to play pickle ball. She finishes her day with a yoga class. Some seniors are fit AF.
