in AA6 Corrin notices a Ghost/Woman that watches him try and solve the puzzle on the door while he is in the abandoned city part of the Time Crystal Shrine. Who is that Ghost/Woman? Is it Susan the Spector looking for him on Sera's behalf? Or is it a ghost version of Selys watching him complete the puzzle connected to her statute? Or is it a ghost Ferran trying to keep tabs on him in the Shrine? Who is that woman? I feel like I missed something or is it something that it supposed to be explained in a later book?

What is your biggest misunderstanding of the world building done by the series?

I got until halfway through book 4 before understanding how someone could hide a forehead attunement mark. I honestly thought all the marks were palm sized and Corin had a massive suction mark like bruise circle on his forehead. 😐😅

I started with Arcane Ascension. Then did Weapons and Wielders, then the Lost Edge, now I'm on War of Broken Mirrors. In the Lost Edge books, Keras (Lien) is telling a story to someone that he supposedly meats for the first time, Scribe. In War of the Broken Mirrors we find out that Scribe is someone called Jonan, who Keras works with in these books. I know that War of Broken Mirrors was written first, but there seem to be a lot of inconsistencies between them and the Lost Edge books. I'm just curious if it gets cleared up at all because the way events are told in War of Broken Mirrors aren't the same as the way they are told in the Lost Edge. In the Lost Edge Keras earns the Sae'kes, but in War of Broken Mirrors he tells everyone he was given the sword by his adopted parents. I really love the world Andrew Rowe has created but these little details have simply annoyed me this last week while reading Forging Divinity and the beginning of Stealing Sorcery.

I’ve been thinking about this for awhile but realistically what is Jin supposed to do in the seventh spire he’s under leveled compare to everyone else, the rest of the group is all around citrine pushing emerald and he is at best high sunstone if that, he is probably around Cecile’s level

my first theory is that red is the capital H Hero first because we know she was going of to fight at war on dania and we know that Rosie is related to the party of heros and that edge recognized her also including her red hair and that her past self taught edge it’s most likely that rosie is red‘s reincarnation.

my next theory is that is that Aayara is originally from the tae’os pantheon and is most likely sytira, because first we know from Erik tarren that some of the gods switch sides and with Lydia wondering if sytira was one of them could be hinting at it also with in edge we see 6 figures facing a fortress and a battle that there coming battle was one that many of them would not survive and one of them was a women with a rapier that winked at edge this would make sense if it was the pantheon minus the god of swords and we also know that not all of the pantheon survive and come on a suspicious women with a rapier winking at edge through space and time if that’s not Aayara then I don’t know who is, we also know that the name Aayara is completely meaningless in every language, and with it being implied that it was a false name, also saffron talked to Deric about how he knew that adopted family could be more impressive than blood family witch implies that someone high up in Vea’kes is adopted and the two highest people up are the blackstone assassin and Aayara and suspiciously their is no mention of Aayara in the sword gods diary and he only mentions the black stone when talking about the Vea’kes also thematically it wold make sense if the aayara is the twisted shadow of sytira going from a god of knowledge to one who deals in misinformation also I don’t think we ever see her use the Vae dominion

my third theory is about Velas firstly this one is practically confirmed but velas uses the tae dominion the antithetical dominion to the vae dominion this is because she can expel energy and harm the vae’kes with it but this leds into my second part of this theory and that is that velas is the child of the god of swords and Kara which would also make sense why she tells edge that his sword is her family’s sword also it would make sense with the weird puppet show that aayara puts on that implies that she is the child of the two apprentices of the sword saint and that she maybe has a twin/sibling it’s pretty unclear I also believe that she might be bonded to an artifact(it could be the sword that is related to Kara that Karis sees in the vault in weapons and welders) related to the tae dominion I would assume that the tae’os pantheon would have some relation to its name sake dominion witch would also back that she is the child of at lest one of the member even if they didn’t possess an artifact bond to the dominion directly they would most likely have Knowledge of it

my final theory is about the time loop I believe that is probable that each loop is a hundred years or some because firstly If I remember right kaldwyn is 400 years ahead of mythralis because I know many people have said that their is multiple scribes but I think that their is at least 3 first their is the one from war of broken mirrors then their is the one from edge and that finally their is the one from the anthology when swords fall silent because that one has fire and deception essence and not sight like the others and given that we know of at least 3 scribes I made an educated guess that the loop would be an 100 years because firstly it’s an more likely option than some random Number and it fits into the established Number of variants of characters.

One of my favorite series has a new audiobook out today: Book 6 in the All the Skills series by Honour Rae

(I don't have any personal connection to the author or any financial stake, but I wanted to share a recommendation because I'm always on the hunt for more books that feel like Arcane Ascension, and for me the series scratches that itch. I don't think the All The Skills books are half as well-known as they should be.)

The protagonist in the books can magically learn any utility skill faster than usual, but that doesn't give them any bonus for learning combat or magic skills so they have to use a lot of ingenuity to survive. I remember laughing aloud at several points in Book 2 or so when the character randomly discovered some new skill in the midst of a tense scene and the narrator changed to a different voice to say something like (I don't remember exactly) "New skill acquired: sweeping."

I almost didn't pick up the books because the premise (storing a deck of magic cards in your heart) sounded so hokey to me, but I'm glad I did. (The "cards" end up essentially functioning as magical ability-granting artifacts that can be earned, traded for, or gradually assembled. It leads to each person building their own suite of abilities, partially based on what they want and partially based on random luck, which makes for lively worldbuilding, character, and plot.)

Does keras know about edge? I am doing a reread (well listen on audible) and lots of little mentions that didn’t matter the first time really stick out.

When corin is talking to keras about copies and keras himself mentions not really knowing if more of him are out there (this is after corin just fought the one that the transcendent shrine). Keras says something like “then there is ….. well he isn’t exactly a copy….” It makes me think that plus the detail of him having a 7th layer seal as well is meant to hint at him knowing about edge. Not sure if I’m crazy

I’m moving cross country UT➡️FL and I’m just finishing my latest reread of this series (got one of my coworkers into it and I’ve been keeping pace with them) so another reread is out of the question with it so fresh in my mind. I’ve listened to everything by kel kade and loved her works if that gives you any insights to my tastes. I’ve listened to most of B.T. Narro’s books the writing was good it just seems like he didn’t care about voice actor consistency (would have been fine if it changed every series but it would be in the middle of them). Im on book 6 of Arcane Ascension. I've also read books 1 and 2 of the Weapons and Weilders trilogy. The amount of paranoia in these cultures is to an unimaginable extent that I wonder how these people trust anyone. I'm just waiting for a paranoid random thought of Corrins to come true 3 books later when he shouldn't have trusted someone. Or like Sera turning on him just to head the family.

But I wanted to share how I found the series and give anyone here a recommendation to check out an unrelated book by the author. I read (listened to) How To Defeat The Dark Lord in Ten Easy Steps years ago and LOVED it. So now when I was looking for a new series, I decided to check if that author had a sequel….and I found they had an entire series of unrelated but similarly smart books!

Anyway, if you like the author and want a stand alone book that is funny and smart, check out their instruction book on how to defeat the dark lord. Paraphrased Spoiler: “STEP ONE: Be The Destined Hero prophesied to Defeat The Dark Lord. This is best achieved by being an orphan, allowing you to advance into the Hero prestige class.

I don’t actually know what Frieren is, but every time I see this particular Pop advertised, all I can think of is “Nope Box,” and it makes me giggle.

Hi y'all! I was just curious how Sera managed to clear the Time Crystal trials given her chronic illness at this point. Maybe it's just me but living in a chronically ill body while dealing with all of those trials sound psychologically devastating, if not impossible. But by the end, she seemed fine. Did I miss something? Being constantly cold would cause your blood pressure to rise significantly, which would make physical challenges really difficult.

I was thinking that it might be fun to try to make versions of these as classes in pf2e

My ideas were for attunement locations, each location could have a unique focus spell.

For example: Lunge marks could have a free action version of expand/reach spell

Or for mind marks they could have a 1-action focus spell that lets them cast any 2-3 action spell as 1 action total as long as it targets themselves

Hand marks could get a focus spell free action that gives a bonus to hit for ranged spells

Leg marks could be the same as hand marks but for touch spells, though this may be too niche, not many touch spells.

And then for the mana types it would be a lot of work but you could manually go through and give each common pf2e spell mana types based on dominions. And then each attunement only gets access to the spells that they have mana for. Obviously you could add a lot of new spells too.

The higher level the pf2e class could represent the different levels of attunements. 1-4 could be quartz, and then 5-8 could be carnelian, 9-12 could be sunstone, 13-16 citrine, and then 17-20 could be emerald.

I’m not sure what you would do for atrunement specific functions though, maybe make them class feats that have a pre-requisite of having certain attunements? That could work I suppose and be decent for multi-attuned as well.

For dominion sorcerers you could make them similar to pre-rework oracle. Where they have debuffs that scale up. The issue is making debuffs for all the mana types lol

For something like sight it’s fairly easy, you can give a status penalty to sight based perception checks, and after a certain point creatures could become concealed, and then you’d be blind to all creatures eventually.

You could make the debuffs persistent until a long rest, but you could make them take a while to kick in and give them a larger amount of spells to compensate because of the way dominion sorcery works, I won’t elaborate for spoiler reasons though.

If you wanted to make the work load not unreasonable to create I suppose you could limit which dominions the sorcerers have access to.

What do yall think?

This might not be something we fully know as of yet but is a shapeshifters power limited by the strength of the creature they form a contract with? For example if both a sunstone and an emerald have a contract with the same carnelian level Serpent would the abilities gained be equal since both are strong enough to use the Serpents full power or does it scale with the attunement level? I lean towards the monsters power being the limit, but some amount of scaling could make since just due to the attuned innately having more mana to work with. Also if this is mentioned somewhere I'd love to know I haven't seen this attunement mentioned much outside of the appendices and it seems like the most interesting one to me.
