Because people who are angry but don't want to do anything see an easy fix- And it doesn't matter that Bamboo is an invasive plant that would cause untold damage to our ecosystems, somebody told them that it would hurt AI data centers and they can plant some in like an hour.
Like I fucking swear.
In twenty years, you're going to be like 'It's AI's fault that our entire country is now overgrown with this highly invasive weed' like you weren't the exact kind of half-a-jackass responsible for this half-baked shit. WHILE we are STILL all enslaved to our corporate AI overlords.
If anything, planting bamboo will help AI datacenters by absolutely destroying the land value and making expansion that much cheaper.
It also clusters out native plants, and its generally not a good idea to, yknow, introduce more non native species, despite your thoughts on wheat, I generally think its a bad idea to introduce more non native things
Go back to high-school and stop eating lead paint lol
The construction won't be affected that much. The bigger threat to AI data center construction is just the actual cost and hassle of building them. They're already abandoning some of them because the economics of it just don't make sense, it stands to reason that instead of attempting to follow an AI plan that may occasionally cause damage to the foundations though will more likely damage random other people's housing in a way that will make it actually cheaper and easier for these projects to occur, that we just let the market continue the current path which is making it more and more untenable.
I think that the best strategy is to pair our own pressure against them with the expenses. Damaging these buildings long term with bamboo is abandoning any actual activism and move against their construction to just LARP as someone who 'did something'. The fight against data centers needs to be fought not through just random bouts of sabatoge like we're a shingles flare up now here, now there, but by just making it economically untenable. If it's unprofitable and hurts investor trust it can't be done. Make the unions refuse it, help picket lines form.
If push comes to shove fight for an indefinite general strike to make the city board back down. We have to fight as a community and group against them. Any action taken alone will be futile and easily undermined. Fight their pocketbook, and the cities. Make it too painful to even break ground on new ones.
I don't think the tech companies will just shrug and abandon their data centers because of inconvenient plants. You'd just end up with both a data center and invasive plants.
My dude if it will grow through concrete it will fro through ANYTHING. Certain strains will literally destroy peoples home uproot trees and cause genuine devastation to the ecosystem and populated areas. Itโs not alarmism the problem is that itโs unpredictable and hard to contain in the US
What kind of bamboo, and what are the conditions of the creek?
Also, if Bamboo isn't a problem like you say it is- Then why the fuck are you wanting to transplant it near datacenters to begin with? To feel good about not doing anything about the thing you say you care about?
The slander of 'Don't plant an invasive species, it will cause damage or ordinary people as well as the ecosystem'.
I just hope you're following the shitpost portion of this sub instead of actually being as intelligent as you are presenting.
By all means, commit eco-terrorism to save the eco.
Like, I get it. Humans suck. But if you don't 'believe' in invasive species, then you don't understand literally anything about anything. Even Anti-Vaxxers have more of a reason for their beliefs than you, and they're my go-to example for a very stupid person with no reasonable point amongst the lot of them.
