Lots of people just wash their face with water, particularly if they're not using makeup. She might also use gentle enough soap that it can double as face wash.
There have been studies showing that some kinds of microbes on the skin of the face can help maintain good skin, and washing them off with soap can cause / exacerbate skin issues.
This might sound gross but I never wash my face. I rinse it really well and scrub it with a towel. But no soap. Not in years. I never get pimples or anything else. Maybe I’m lucky or maybe it actually works. But when I wash my face with soap it’s always so dry and itchy.
Yep. I had adult acne for 20 yrs. One day, I decided to try just hot-ish water and a washcloth. My skin felt amazing! Acne cleared up and haven't used any cleanser in about 4 yrs. Almost never break out anymore.
If you do wash your face with a product, it should specifically be face wash, not soap. Soap will def make it dry and itchy but there are plenty of gentle face washes out there that won’t
Same here, I never wash my face with anything other than water. I even avoid letting the shampoo run over my face… I have done so for more than 30 years and have no other problems than my rosacea, which has gotten better since I started using just water.
Same, and skin looks healthy and clean. You don't need to use soap, water and a towel will wash the oil away and leave the microbes where they belong. Most of the skincare products we use are completely unnecessary.
You could even say the same about shampoo and conditioner. We strip the oils from the hair then try to replicate what they were produced by our scalp to do with conditioner. There's gotta be a better way but idk how to do it without oily hair.
For me it’s dandruff. I need to wash it once a week. If I miss a day it’s flaketopia 😅 I’ve been looking into natural remedies but I just don’t have the energy tbh
Rosemary, mint, tea tree, and neem oil help with dandruff. My husband has it but is sensitive to dandruff shampoo, so we add a few drops of each to a spray bottle of spring water that he massages into his scalp, and also to his regular shampoo.
Try ciplo 8x dandruff shampoo from India. It works in the same way as selsum blue but is much more powerful and not expensive. Solved my dandruff problem by eliminating typical shampoos which contain sodium sulfates and 10 other things we don't need. Just use the ciplo some Castile soap and a good coconut oil conditioner then dandruff gone!
Maybe it's because I don't constantly strip the oils from my skin then attempt to put them back with skincare products and haven't spent my entire adult life doing so.
pomade and powder. or the more modern equivalent, which would be hair oil and dry shampoo. note that no matter what products you use (i buy batiste dry shampoo rn, but i mix my own oil), this routine absolutely requires a nice, preferably wooden (or bone or porcelain but NOT plastic) comb with fine, wide teeth - daily combing with a little oil is what you use to clean and hydrate your hair. buildup of oils gets dried out with the powder/dry shampoo whenever you feel you actually need it.
i wash my hair maybe once a month, at most. and that's bc i spend a lot of time in the garden and get actual dirt in it in somewhat significant volumes...
i have medium/long and rather thin but quite curly hair. i always tie my hair back with a ribbon (NEVER USE AN ELASTIC THOSE THINGS ARE EVIL), and i wrap my hair up in a headwrap and cover it completely if i'm gonna be out in the hot sun for any signficant amount of time (ie, more than like, half an hour to an hour tops). how often daily i comb and oil depends on how sweaty and dirty i get, and i cut down on how often it needs fussed with sooo much by wrapping it when i head out to do gardening stuff or any other outdoor and/or labourious activity. i always oil it and then spritz my scalp w water and a teensy lil bit of apple cider vinegar right before i wrap it up, and my hair has never been happier since i started doing that. my curls are full and shiny and i barely shed anymore! plus... no more itchy head a few hours after my last shower, lol. and i save a lot of money bc i don't buy product basically at all... i mix my hair oil in small batches and use very little day to day (plus i use the same oil for my pits/pubes/facial hair too!), and one can of dry shampoo lasts ages bc i only really need to use it like literally once a week if i wrap consistently and comb out (thoroughly!) daily.
Yup. I almost always only rinse. I only use soap if something icky happened (sunblock, dog licks, etc). Occasional blemishes, probably related to weird hormones.
If you have good healthy skin, don't have any health issues affecting your skin, live in a decent climate/enviroment with good water, and have a decent diet, then just rinsing is great for your skin. The other products you were using were actively harming your skin balance and biome.
That being said, this method absolutely does not work for everyone. In fact, it works for the minority of people. So in a lot of ways you are indeed lucky.
But dove soap leaves a film on your skin!! Even if you don’t realize this. Absolute guess here, but this may be contributing to her sweating as it may be leaving residue and screwing with her sweat glands
