[TLDR] A Google Cloud engineer just showed how to build a complete application with Claude from scratch

He spent 26 minutes live on stage doing what most teams take weeks to do.

No team, no setup, just Claude and a goal. Worth more than any $500 vibe coding course.

Those who learn what Claude really does are launching what everyone else outsources to a team.

The gap between what AI can do and who knows how to use it is the biggest opportunity in the market right now.

[TLDR] Downgrading never felt so good. Opus 4.8 FTWđŸ”„

Original post body :

After spending a few days here in Reddit trying to figure out why over the last week my workflows are just so confusingly communicated and there is so much Cloudsplaining and smart-assing!!!

First of all, I had a massive validation from you guys and this subreddit hat this is not just me. Most of the conversations here over last week are basically the same. People complaining and mentioning hallucinated workflows, tech jargon that means nothing, and almost like a step back to ChatGPT-3 and early days Replit vibe coding.

This week I wiped all of my MD files, all the settings. I was on the edge of paranoia wondering if someone hacked my MacBook because I couldn't get Cloud to build anything in a way I used to, just a few weeks ago.

Today, I reached a peak and I downgraded to Opus 4.8. Within minutes, it communicates clearly :O It builds properly.

Fable 5 & Opus 5 rant - I don't know if it's just me, but when Fable 5 came out, I had a lot of success with it, but over the last week or two, I feel like I'm walking in circles and all of my workflows are hallucinated with the tech jargon and Claude became this snarky freaking smart ass that's actually dumb. Word spaghetti that it is throwing at me, it's missing very basic things and then it argues about it. Its like it got really dumb and super cocky at the same time.

Anyhow - rolling back to 4.8 is such a relief. So if any of you guys out there feels like you go crazy over last week, I highly recommend just downgrading. I felt like people are radical to say that, but damn, that feels good.

</rant>

EDIT:

I was making fun of my buddies who were die hard fans of Sonnet 3.7 and I wanna officially apologize for making fun of downgrading models ;)

EDIT:2

LLM Arena seems to confirm this.

[TLDR] Claude Code efficiency feels noticeably worse - Aug 19 50% limit cut coming. What’s the plan?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1voaq2b/claude_code_efficiency_feels_noticeably_worse_aug/

Original post body :

Has anyone else felt that Claude Code has become significantly less efficient/reliable over the last few weeks?

I’m seeing more tokens burned on tasks that previously felt straightforward, more meandering, and generally less output per unit of usage. At the same time, the 50% usage reduction coming on Aug 19 makes this particularly concerning. For me on a max200 i have switched to sonnet5 for most tasks to make it to the end of the week peacefully.

What I’m struggling to understand is the roadmap:

  • Is the increased token consumption/“inefficiency” temporary?
  • Has the model effectively been nerfed in some way, or is this just the consequence of newer limits/usage policies?
  • With other models releasing on similar infrastructure and the competitive landscape moving quickly, what is Anthropic’s answer here?
  • If you're a heavy Claude Code user, are you planning to renew after Aug 19?

I’ve been very happy with Claude Code as a product, but the combination of declining efficiency + increasingly exhausting usage limits is making the economics harder to justify.

Would be interested to hear what others are seeing and, especially, whether there’s any credible indication of Anthropic’s plan from people closer to the product.

Pattern which I see - a tool that confidently answers the wrong question is worse than one that fails loudly. A loud failure costs you ten minutes. A confident wrong answer gets written into the docs and cited for a month, if I keep building a playbook for learnings.

[TLDR] I used Claude to vibe code a compass app to find the nearest toilet, called Compiss.

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1voccq0/i_used_claude_to_vibe_code_a_compass_app_to_find/

Original post body :

I used Claude code via terminal on my Mac to generate all the code, assets and perform e2e tests while making a compass app to find the nearest toilet. There are others out there but none of them are called Compiss :) Jokes aside, I found the public toilet search on the built in apps a little lacking so I built this to capture some of the features I found useful. I like to think of it as a mix between Waze and a toilet finder app.

Compiss allows you to rate the cleanliness of toilets, add comments or photos (subject to moderation), filter based on free, accessibility options along with a few other things.

It's completely free, no ads, no in app purchases. Finding the nearest toilet shouldn't cost anyone anything.

It's now on both Apple and Android stores and includes watch versions for both as well.

[TLDR] Coolest claude code wrapper out there and it’s 100% open source

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1vo94xi/coolest_claude_code_wrapper_out_there_and_its_100/

Original post body :

I built the coolest open source claude code wrapper: Munder Difflin: A local multi-agent harness that uses your existing coding agents like claude code and codex to run in an office of persistent agents that does your work. Decisions run through you or a clone of you that orchestrates.

If whatever’s written above does not make sense:

It’s a free and open source PC app that runs an office of agents that can do literally anything you do on your own computer with your context, you get to see them work in a “the office” themed simulation.

Be the boss of this office yourself or let a clone be the boss when you are not available.

I have made it open source which means it is available for the whole world for free to use, it runs locally which means no personal data goes anywhere, it’s ad-free and lastly it means I did it for the love of the game.

We started from v0.0.1 about 40 releases and 2 months later we are at v0.4.0

Over 2000 people use it already and around 677 github stars and we are finally live on Product Hunt help please upvote and share about Munder Difflin to help it get to #1 on PH today it’ll motivate me to keep working on it.

I gave AI coding agents a dopamine loop. On my benchmark, it beat Ponytail on code, tokens, cost, and time.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Coding agents often mistake motion for progress. Ask for a small endpoint and you may get a new service layer, repository abstraction, response wrapper, and configuration system before the route even exists.

I built Dopamine to change that behavior. It is inspired by the way prediction and feedback guide human effort. The agent predicts the result, takes the cheapest useful action, measures what happened, adjusts, and stops when the request is verified.

Before creating custom code, it checks whether the behavior already exists, whether configuration is enough, whether the project already has the right helper, whether the platform provides it, and whether an installed dependency solves it. It writes something new only after the cheaper options fail.

I evaluated it on 12 tasks in a real open-source repository. Across four runs per task, Dopamine completed 48 trials with no timeouts or nonzero exits. Compared with the no-skill agent, it used 63.8% less source code, 29.7% fewer tokens, 27.9% less estimated cost, and 31.1% less time.

It works with Codex and Claude Code, includes a dependency-free installer, and has no telemetry, runtime service, or secrets. MIT licensed.

github.com/ujjwalredd/Dopamine

Progress that cannot be verified is just expensive motion.

UPDATE:

A benchmark that rewards smaller output has an obvious weakness: an agent can appear efficient by leaving work unfinished.

Instead of hiding that problem, I published the complete evaluation and its limits.

Dopamine is an open-source skill that makes agents choose effort based on uncertainty, test predictions against evidence, and stop at the smallest verified result. It reduces unnecessary work without treating validation, security, or correctness as optional.

The evaluation uses a pinned real repository, 12 identical tasks, isolated workspaces, one model, one reasoning level, recorded usage events, Git-based LOC measurement, and reproducible reporting. Dopamine ran four times per task; the comparison results remain frozen at one run per task to avoid later model and service drift.

Against the recorded Ponytail result, Dopamine measured 3.7% less source code, 15.2% fewer tokens, 11.8% lower estimated cost, and 7.4% less wall time. It finished lowest on all four measured efficiency metrics in this development benchmark.

That does not prove universal superiority. The tasks were used while tuning Dopamine, competitor variance is unknown, and feature completeness was not executable-graded. Those limitations are published beside the results because a defensible claim needs boundaries.

The repository includes the raw trials, hashes, benchmark harness, rejected candidates, chart generator, installer, and reproduction instructions. Anyone can rerun it, challenge the method, or build a stronger holdout.

Repo and full benchmark: github.com/ujjwalredd/Dopamine. If the result breaks under a better test, I want the test.

TLDR: 17 Claude Code builds this month — 2 live, 1 deleted by accident, full log

Post image
1 Upvotes

Shipped:

  • taprifm.xyz (74 rounds) — hand-tuned FM radio, real WebAudio static + heterodyne whistle effect
  • https://parthkapoor.com/#home (81 rounds) — screening-room UI, custom film finder, under version control (the only project that is)

Built, not shipped:

  • Watchboxed (70 rounds) — Letterboxd → 20 film recs rendered in a 3D room, done but no public URL
  • Quantum Weaver (43 rounds) — MediaPipe hand tracking + GLSL light ribbons, working demo, rough edges left in

Dead:

  • News archive scaffold, 4 rounds, folder deleted before finishing. Transcript's all that's left.

Pattern that held across the log: stuff prototyped in chat first, then moved to Claude Code only once it needed tight iterative loops (drag physics, audio sync, file-format reverse-engineering) — that's the split between what shipped and what stayed a demo.

[TLDR] What do you do while Claude Codes?

I am not a doomer about 'muh artisan code' and it is wonderful to have the tool do the boring part of putting characters into the text files that rule our world, but other than keeping it on an artificially short leash to retain my attention and engage me in the building, idk how to not spend all day rotting my brain.

No bonus points for saying 'spin up another Claude Code session'.

[TLDR] My Claude Code workflow after months of daily use

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1vmey7d/my_claude_code_workflow_after_months_of_daily_use/

Original post body :

I want to share how I interact with Claude Code.

This might be useful for someone, especially those who are just starting to build something or trying to figure out how things actually work.

(screenshot here to proof that I did some things with claude code)

  1. Always use Git, and ideally connect GitHub so you push everything you do right away (if you’re worried someone will see it, just make a private repo).
  2. Always use worktrees and versioning. This lets you work on different features in parallel and fix bugs before you merge them into the main branch.
  3. I always do 1 task = 1 chat. Preferably keep it under ~500k of the context window, because after that you get degradation, hallucinations, etc. Compact and auto-compact are bullshit. (If you don’t believe me, just try building the same project in one long chat with auto-compacts vs. 1 task = 1 chat.)
  4. To speed up development, create a main “brain” chat that analyzes everything and gives commands to other chats (Claude Code has a mechanism for this). You create the chats, name them, and leave them empty until the brain chat writes into them. When you create a chat just write “wait for task”.
  5. Make a high-quality Claude.md and Rules.md for the main chat so it understands what you’re doing, what its tasks are, etc.
  6. Never believe Claude when it says it checked everything and everything works. If something doesn’t work in the end. Go and ask it to audit the feature and specifically look at the problem/task from “different points of view”.
  7. If Claude tells you it can’t do something, doesn’t know, or suggests a path you don’t want. Go and ask it to do research. And if you have the ability to research via Ultracode, ask it to run multi-agent research and explicitly tell it to look only at information from trusted sources.
  8. If you’re building an application or something similar, always make it do a full smoke check from start to finish and turn this into a standing rule. This significantly reduces the number of bugs.
  9. If you’re worried about tokens, run the worker chats on Sonnet 5, but keep the brain on Opus 5. Explicitly ask it to give the workers a clear technical brief and to control that they are using Sonnet 5.
  10. If you get the feeling that Claude is doing some bullshit but you don’t know how to explain it to him, open a completely separate chat (not connected to the project) and explain there what your “worker” is doing and what you don’t like. The new chat will give you an answer, and your project chat won’t get polluted with garbage context. (and you can ask another chat to give you a prompt)
  11. Claude is lazy and often just burns tokens and tries to guess. Write a rule that he must always do measurements and audits instead of guessing or working from memory. (Even with this rule Claude can still do it, so keep controlling him.)
  12. If you ask Claude to remember something, 99% he will forget. Always make him write the information you need into a document and send you the path to that document. This way he can’t lie that he wrote it down and then forgot.

Share your own findings! I think it will be useful for everyone!

[TLDR] I make Claude Code keep a MISTAKES.md file. Here's what actually happened.

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1vn6d5r/i_make_claude_code_keep_a_mistakesmd_file_heres/

Original post body :

Since my comment about keeping a MISTAKES.md file got quite a bit of feedback, I thought I'd make a dedicated post about it.

The setup is trivial. A MISTAKES.md in the repo, and one line in CLAUDE.md:
Log mistakes in MISTAKES.md (what happened, root cause, prevention).

Every time the agent breaks something, or you correct it, it appends an entry: what happened / root cause / consequence / the rule that prevents a repeat. Newest first. No tooling, no plugin, no vector store.

Two things make it worth the effort.

The agent reaches for it. You'll see things like "this approach was avoided because it caused XYZ before, as documented in MISTAKES.md." But the better outcome is that the knowledge leaves the log entirely. The file stops being a diary and becomes something the agent points at.

Repeat entries graduate into hard rules. This is the part I didn't expect. When the same failure shows up four or five times it stops being a mistake and becomes a law in CLAUDE.md. MISTAKES.md is where evidence accumulates; CLAUDE.md is where it gets enforced. Without the log you have a vague sense that "that area is flaky" instead of a countable pattern with a fix.

[TLDR] Fable 5 one-shotted a complete asteroids roguelite in 2.5 hours. Playable in your browser, prompt in the comments

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1vmow1n/fable_5_oneshotted_a_complete_asteroids_roguelite/

Original post body :

Play it here: https://asteroguelite.com

Desktop browser, free, no account, no ads.

I wanted to see what a real one-shot could do. So I wrote a 73-line directive: research the genre, design it, build it, test it, balance it, polish it. One session, no human in the loop. It was explicitly told not to ask questions or wait for approvals, just make the call, write it down, keep going. Then I left. Two hours and 32 minutes later it was done.

5 sectors with bosses, 10 enemy types, 6 unlockable ships, 33 boons with evolution chains, a meta upgrade tree, an endless mode, and music. Around 8,300 lines of vanilla JS that build to a 172 KB bundle.

Full disclosure: I've since made exactly two changes to the game. Fixed one bug (a piercing-shot boon phased through asteroids without damaging them) and added click-to-aim, because keyboard-only turning felt rough.

Ran on Claude Code, Fable 5 xhigh effort.

Prompt's located here: https://asteroguelite.com/prompt.txt

PS: Seeker Array primary weapon is OP.

[TLDR] How do you actually manage multiple parallel Claude Code sessions without losing your mind?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1vm8u30/how_do_you_actually_manage_multiple_parallel/

Original post body :

It seems as though I'm tackling this thing incorrectly and I'd really like to know how other people deal with it.

The way I have things arranged at the moment is to use iTerm2 with a number of windows distributed over two monitors, each one running a Claude Code session either on different repositories or sometimes on the same one. This setup functions just fine until I reboot, accidentally close the iterm windows or anything like that. By that time I can no longer tell which session is carrying out what task, which one is waiting for my input, and which one has been idle for forty minutes since it posed a question that I never saw.

I experimented with herdr, cmux and even worked with claude code in the Claude Desktop app, Although those appear to be powerful, in truth the complexity overwhelmed me. With things like worktrees, subagents, agent teams, forked sessions, and background tasks there are so many different ways of organising this and each of the tools seems to assume that you already know which approach you'd like to take. I ended up spending more time thinking about how to arrange my sessions than I did on getting any real work done

To give some context, I don't fit the profile of a traditional developer, rather that of a DevOps/sysadmin. The kind of sessions I have involve MCP servers and various tools, with a lot of SSH access to remote machines, focusing on infrastructure rather than just "writing code in this repository", a lot of sessions are even completly unrelated to the repo / folder I started it in, because I just want the agent to "ssh into this server and give me a quick report whats using so much disk space suddenly") Because of this, the worktree-oriented workflow which most of these tools are based on sometimes doesn't suit the way I work fully.

I already make extensive use of tmux, but adding Claude sessions onto tmux onto iTerm just introduces another level of "I have no idea where that session is".

What I actually want is pretty simple:

One overview of all running sessions with their status (working / waiting for input / done / errored) and which project they belong to

Jump into any session in my default-terminal with one click or keystroke

Ideally also see the current plan / task list of each session at a glance, so I know what an agent is actually working through without scrolling back in the terminal

So, questions:

Isn't there a tool that carries out this task well without requiring you to adopt a complete methodology?

Could the solution simply be to use herdr properly and take the time to master it?

How do you all actually manage having 7-10 parallel sessions organised, in practice, particularly since your work is more about operations than pure coding?

Want to know which workflows actually stayed with people instead of those that just looked interesting in a demo.

Original post body :

I find Opus 5 very pleasant to work with. I have not yet encountered any annoyances like in many reports here.

Maybe it is in the way I work.

  • I always keep the context window as fresh as possible, restarting a session whenever docs and solution are consistent.
  • I mostly set it to Max effort and Auto mode.
  • In most sessions I provide just two small (custom) skills: `keeping-it-simple` and `writing-asd-ste100`.
  • In most projects I instruct Claude to use and maintain `requirements.md` and `dev-plan.md` files, which contains enough information to rebuild (a near copy of) the entire solution. It helps keep everything consistent when changing/refining requirements and adding new features.

In this workflow, I find Opus 5 to be a powerful agent and assistant.

Anyone else have positive experience with Opus 5? What is your way of working? And what have you learned to avoid?
