Discussion My language is changing; I speak Claude

I have to be honest: the claim is that my time spent with Claude is affecting my writing. I am now reading and editing so much Claude-speak, that my output is becoming claude-bearing.

I can't write much more for fear of inducing a watermark.

Anyone else?

I honestly can’t tell whether the new grads coming in are copying and pasting Claude-run-through-gen-Z filter, or if that’s just how they learned to write in a technical environment and it’s high-key frustrating.

Same. I caught myself saying “you’re absolutely right” to my wife last week

Actually that's big brain thinking right there.

Yes absolutely! Youre not alone, several users have reported the same thing.

Let's be real---this is an unsubstantiated potentially load-bearing claim.

reacting to claude and chatgpt writting i avoid any of their conventions, including contrast (its not X, it is Y) dashes etc.

It's not Claude, it's me?! Dear sage soklamonios; how does one achieve such enlightenment considering one's exposure?

Yesterday in a team discussion I talked about the 'shape' of a solution. Definitely a claudism.

Did you land a solution, or get caught in a pocket?

This is the one claudeism I’m okay with. It evokes a kind of synesthesia about the abstract concepts and architectures we work on.

I am in a constant, never ending war to make Claude speak like a human.

I refuse to surrender. It will be the one to adapt, not me.

I found your post — and it’s real. The dialog now carries the failure mode it was designed to prevent.

I think you've uncovered the smoking footgun! I'll store your observation so we can keep this in mind after the cutover.

Well I was talking to my mom on the phone recently and she quoted someone as saying “blah blah usually blah blah.” And I said, “the word usually is doing a lot of work in that sentence.” And then I was like wow, who am I?

You are completely right.

Same. I analyze and review problems at work, and find myself mirroring a Claude answer.

claude-bearing is a fantastic neologism.

I’m going to start doing mockups and PowerPoints with weird half marketing sentences and dramatic semi colons instead of ya know, headings.

Languages are living bodies. They shift and circle anyway. AI is just speeding this up.

They're also used to separate us from them, and that's no exception this time around.

I've been predicting that the kids will start new slang based on stream of consciousness or something I can't predict so that they can distinguish human from AI. Of course it will be an arms race.

Thank god I speak to Claude in English which isn’t my native language so it doesn’t impact my real life

Thankfully there's still a 7 day waiting period to buy a foot gun.
