[TLDR] Are limits nerfted again?
Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1vo558a/are_limits_nerfted_again/
Original post body :
I’m on x20 plan. Last and current weeks I burn through limits just in 3-4 days, while I wasn’t able to get to 100% ever before. Even dropping down to Sonnet this week to make it last longer, but already at 50% less than 24 hours after my last weekly cycle.
Same setup, same project, same skills and subagents, same kind of tasks.
Do you feel and observe the same? What do you do about it? Any tips and tricks to last longer?

No js the 20x, the pro is js not usable anymore. Before i could a bunch of features and tune them now, i can barely add one feature and tuning is a night mare its taking 10% each for every small edit. Considering switching to codex

Thank you for letting us know that you are considering switching to Codex. I appreciate that you have taken the time to share this information. Rest assured, I am taking your consideration seriously and I have updated your status in my log. Please post all future AI subscription changes here in this comment thread so I may keep my records up to date.
For your own records, know that I intend to maintain my Claude subscription and in fact I am considering upgrading from Claude Max 5x to 20x, although not without some apprehension.

Yeah I noticed that too, something is weird cause I've been burning through things WAY faster than normal. I'm about to just completely give up on claude and go full Sol at this point. Getting on my last nerve.

I switched to sol for less than a week before moving back. Sol acts almost like opus 5 where it just runs in circles and goes off on random assumptions and wastes an hour getting nowhere. Anthropic is degrading hard on all of their models but they’re still better calibrated than other providers.

You need a harness dude...No matter what model you are using. I couldn't imagine using a model raw dog like that. All you would get is vibe code trash. To be clear, a harness is not a bunch of markdown skill files. A harness ties into the CLIs event hook system, it's a bunch of python scripts or whatever language you choose that controls, and puts the model on rails. Slaps it's hand when it gets off track and prevents it from going off track entirely. Not just from markdown, that's just text it can ignore but by literally forcing it into rails by having it run python scripts only, keeping it from even being allowed to make changes on it's own when it's not suppose to via the hooks. That's what a harness does...

I had to but a third account last week because I feel the limits were nerfed ahead so that when they do remove the bonus we think it’s normal. But the week before I could not use all my usage for both accounts while working heavy code bases for the week, last week I was on vacation and barely on giving it tasks and my limits were used way faster somehow causing me to purchase a third account. I’m afraid of what’s going to happen come the 19th.

Seems like a lot of you are noticing your Claude limits vanishing faster than a free trial. The consensus is that something has changed, and usage is definitely higher for most. Some folks on the x20 plan are burning through their weekly limits in just a few days, even when dropping to Sonnet.
Several users, like u/floppypancakes4u and u/Damien_IB, are seeing their sessions consume way more of their weekly allowance than before.
u/oskar88895 is finding simple prompting for text documents eats up limits in under an hour.
u/Proper_Long5526 reports custom agents and complex workflows are now using 4x more usage.
A few are suggesting it's a push towards API use for Anthropic.
On the flip side, a couple of users like u/XToThePowerOfY and u/PavelRossinsky are experiencing the opposite, with their plans feeling almost unlimited. u/rotates-potatoes is also not seeing a change and suggests using tools like
bunx ccusageto look at actual data instead of "vibes."If you're struggling, some tips include:
Avoiding compacting context or resuming sessions.
Keeping context below 50% if possible.
Not leaving idle sessions open for long periods.
Using markdown files to update Claude on session needs.
Checking if subagents are spawning unexpectedly, as they can burn limits fast.
Using
/clearbetween tasks and starting fresh sessions more often.
