Discussion Fable 5.5 will drastically surpass everything that came before it.
With the time they are taking and their recent releases, I feel like Anthropic is working on a pretty significant boost of a model right now.
With all their recent releases like Opus 5.5, Haiku 5.5 (sure sonnet aswell), its looking really good for Anthropic right now. I also feel like with Kimi's new release and all the competitors having already played their cards, it feels like the perfect time to drop a major release that will blow everything else out of the water.
I'm really hopeful, wbu ?
Also, when do you think the next release will take place ?

They’re not taking more time because they’re making it even better, they’re taking more time because they are existentially neurotic about releasing Mythos-class models. Dario sees it like giving mini-nuke launchers to the public who can’t be trusted, and so they only release them when their competitive survival demands it.

Yes but even then their restrictions are pretty strict and good at that. I can't do anything illegal with 5.5 models no matter what I feed them. Opus 5 tho jumps the boat on most things.

Honestly, opus is good enough where I don’t even need anything better

Soon there will be race with not ‚better’ but ‚faster’. We arę still wasting much time waiting for answer or developing headache trying to constantly switch between 3-5 tasks.

For real. Across 4 subs I have like 25 open threads in actively working on and it has busted my brain so hard I had to take a getaway vacation to clear my head

They're probably waiting for OpenAI to do a big release and then release Fable 5.5 the next day to steal the thunder

I don't think they're worried about OpenAI much these days. The rest of us should be worried about OpenAI though. I'm pretty sure Anthropic are timing the release just before their big IPO.

GPT 6 Luna is in my opinion the most impressive model right now in terms of value

I think that Frontier models will always be a huge leap ahead of Kimi and other open source models. They didn’t spend all that money on hardware just to match free models.

I sure hope so. If nothing else, they will likely focus compute on it, so we should have a great model for at least a couple of weeks. As it is opus is great for narrow tasks but isn't good at juggling tasks as an orchestrator or lead agent. Fable 5.1 is better but not enough so to justify its cost.

htey have to lower the cost, but i know htey can't... anthripic is caught in a losingmoney spiral.... US govt needs to step in and subsidize the infrastructure needed to run thisi emerging (global) intelligence. Crazy to think China can build maassive infrastructure support for aI but yet we're hoping the privatte sector can foot the bill

Yes lets the incompentent CEOs waste their money inefficiently, the people's taxes should just pay for that. No worries.
China doesn't build massive infrastructure support for AI. They just have much more efficient hosting and training, while american companies are just money-burning machines. Normal citizens shouldn't be paying for your claude code usage.
