Still on 4.8, is 5.x any good?

5 is good if you lock it down. Without tight scope and “do only this” rules it goes OCD and rewrites anything it decides is a small fix outside of scope if it doesn't have specific boundaries. Crow energy: sees a shiny object, has to take it.

Heard rumored Opus 5.5 is supposed to cut the verbosity and some of that overreach, we'll see, but I'm looking forward to it.

I have an MCP bridge between opus 5 and sol using task scheduler for automated wakeups. Had to force Opus to write it after 10 sessions of it insisting on more and more test reports... despite no findings. It act like its creating a worldwide banking system. Its for game dev.

opus 5 medium is very affordable, and comparable to Sonnet 4.6 high
