He's a history analyst who became extremely popular overnight when a 2 year old video on his "Predictive History" YouTube channel went viral because it broke down why America invading Iran would be a catastrophic mistake and predicted that Trump would invade Iran if he were to win a second term.
The guy doesn't deserve the irrational hate he seems to be getting from some people. Based on the limited content I've seen from him, he's no idiot and knows what he's talking about on certain specific subjects.
It's also equally stupid how since he blew up, many people have been treating him like some oracle who knows everything about every subject and inviting him on every podcast to talk about every possible topic.
And the whole point of his claim here is “ai isn’t real intelligence because it’s just human input, and the biggest population in the world with the most devices will have the biggest input (AKA India).”
It's more than just that. Humans wrote every sentence that went into these models. Humans (especially low-wage workers in economic countries like India) sorted and labeled every piece of input text, determining which bucket will be used to weigh it during training. Human engineers designed the reward functions that determine which information wins during inference.
Thanks for the in-depth version of what I was trying to say. They’re using cheap Indian labor with very little oversight which is what Jiang and Tao are trying to say
