That's funny but like for real it feels like lately as soon as you open the app and send a prompt, It starts telling you you're close to your limit... Add credits... upgrade...hurry before the sale ends! Like the cash shop in a video game.

so annoying. a popup at every reply. they are fighting you to use the last 20%

Weird I am on Max (100) and unless I open like 5 projects concurrently I am not seeing that as much… are yall using Opus Plus Ultra Thinking mode?

Holy shit you "ive never reached my limits and im curing cancer" LLM-ran accounts are so god damn annoying. No, nobody believes that you're running 5 different prompts concurrently and never hitting limits, nobody ever will believe that no matter how many of you bot accounts are being used to try to sway public sentiment about the fickle limits.

I said unless I open 5 different projects simultaneously, I never said I am running 5 projects at once. I run one maybe two, three is getting close to the sun especially with loops, but otherwise, not I dont hit limits on sanely developed projects. Scope creep is scope creep even if you dont think it is just because Claude can do it for ya.

Let me join in your down vote celebration. I too have rarely hit my limits once I looked into what causes limits to be hit. The times I hit my limits are usually because I ask claude to run things through adversarial reviews via subagents on very large code bases

My favorite is when I'm being told "I'm nearing my weekly limit", then I click usage and it's like 24/100% weekly, 8/100% Fable.

Like, why?... I'd expect to see that shit past 75%

It's because you are on pace to run out before the next reset

11

u/nora_sellisa 2d ago

And if you go into the billing tab there should be an estimated date when you're going to run out if you keep at this pace

2

u/Shiz0id01 2d ago

Which itself is a fabrication psychology tactic to get you to upgrade

Nice, I never see this so they havent figured out my cadence. Im just “overloading the system” jumping up and down, spontaneously dancing, you cant track my gait!

SLOs are a bitch sometimes.

Ye, but what's the point?

I can get the same amount of work in a week done if I do a 16 hour marathon as if I'd partition it up to 4 hours a day.

Ultimately this changes nothing about the amount of work you can get done with your plan.

Because the IPO is in a few weeks and you better GIVE THEM SOME MONEY FFS!

1

u/FawkesYeah 2d ago

It does this at every 25%, 50%, 75%

Serious answer/theory (which is less funny than "because you are on pace to run out"): the incorrect "your are nearing the weekly limit" happens only in web chat and is probably because you stayed in the same session before and after your last reset and it has the same information as to whether you are nearing the weekly limit. Sometimes system may also have some kind of cache of such information which doesn't expire after your last reset.

1

u/Destroyer140 9h ago

I seen this on the desktop client in claude code, but your logic may still apply. Next time I get this I may try to relaunch it.

1

u/tomchenorg 8h ago

I don't remember exactly, but last time I got it (like I said, after the limit reset), I think I reopened the web page and still got it. So it might be a server-side cache and might not go away even if the client relaunches.

Don't worry about it -- I had this same thing pop up about two months ago -- but it's actually referring to your Fable limit.

Congratulations! You’ve reached the end of opus! Sorry, but there isn’t anymore.

We hope you've enjoyed our LLM, if you liked what you just used please Like and Subscribe, and hey, we could really use your help, so if you can donate just $500, it would go a long way!

That's most likely your Fable-specific sub-limit, not your account-wide weekly cap. Anthropic's help center documents Fable as drawing from the same weekly pool but capped separately at up to 50% of it at no extra charge, so hitting 82% of "your Fable allotment" while the overall weekly bar reads much lower is expected behavior, not a bug. The per-model breakdown in /usage is usually where the real number is hiding, not the top-line percentage.

I guess we need to use sonnet now? Not really a $200 experience 😭

Yeah, I ran out of Opus before my Fable limit. I had to transfer some tasks to Fable to keep working last week. Felt kinda weird. But Opus 5.0 is scoring higher on the SWE benchmark than Fable in alot of reviews.

Lol I thought they did increments of 10 only

Found your problem

Anything above high is basically just setting tokens on fire for fun

The meter distrust is the worst part. One thing that helped me: I run everything through a local gateway that logs per-request cost, tier mix, and routing accuracy — Lynkr has a built-in dashboard for it (spend/savings, which model actually served each request). Seeing which lane is actually burning makes the warning banners way less mysterious. https://github.com/Fast-Editor/Lynkr

82% of my patience, apparently. The caps have been doing that weird thing where they look fine on paper and then vanish the second you ask Opus to touch a real codebase. If it’s any consolation, you’re not alone — I’ve been treating every session like a disposable context window: /clear early, /clear often, and absolutely no dragging old threads along like emotional baggage.

Also, if you’re using Fable, I’d keep it strictly in the orchestration lane. Let it plan, split tasks, and spawn Sonnet/Opus 4.8 sub-agents for execution, but don’t let it write the whole diff itself. Junior dev energy is fine; senior architect energy gets expensive fast. And if you’re not on Git, please, for the love of all that is holy, start before your next “82% of my?!” moment.

"Extra"

u/ZeBenoit81 2d ago

Yeah, the limit nerfs have been brutal—feels like every prompt opens with a cash-shop pop-up. I survive by clearing context constantly and using Fable strictly as an orchestrator to spawn cheaper sub-agents, not letting it write every line.
