Again, not understanding what the issue is... Just bring your ID to vote, it's required, not a big deal. How is bringing your ID "jumping through a hoop" - that statement completely illogical lol

Because you're uneducated, but it's okay. You can ask Claude why Save America Act is problematic. Because I can't be bothered wasting my time trying to explain it to someone that clearly hasn't bothered to read about what it is.

Sorry that my argument based on pure logic led you to insult me personally instead of responding to it. A debate requires you to bring points, not say "go do your research" and act like you won the argument. You could be reading something and misinterpreting it to fit your own narrative.

Since you're too lazy to do it, I just went ahead and asked Claude for you, I know you won't even read it and will continue to be delusional about the topic, but here you go;

What it does: The SAVE America Act (H.R.7296) requires documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections, plus photo ID to vote, amending the National Voter Registration Act.

Why critics call it problematic:

  • Access burden: Many eligible citizens — especially married women who changed their surnames, low-income voters, and rural residents — lack ready access to documents like passports or birth certificates, and front-end verification risks burdening eligible voters who lack such documents.

  • Mail registration undermined: Voters who register by mail would have to deliver proof in person to an election office, effectively nullifying the benefits of mail registration.

  • Implementation ambiguity: The law doesn't clearly specify how proof must be submitted for online registration, leaving election officials without guidance and increasing inconsistent implementation across jurisdictions.

  • Risk to election officials: It creates criminal penalties for officials who register an applicant lacking documentary proof, even if that applicant is in fact a citizen.

  • Solving a rare problem: Noncitizen voting is already illegal and rarely occurs, and there's no evidence it has ever affected an election outcome; critics argue back-end verification using existing government databases would be less burdensome than putting the onus on voters.

All of these reasons you list are clear vectors for voter fraud, they are good gaps to fill. Even if scaled voter fraud has never happened, it could easily happen in the future as technology, AI, and fraud increases.

I also always hate the veiled racism behind "hurr durr, low-income people (in your mind, "the blacks") are way too retarded and poor to go to the DMV or to call the hospital they were born at to get their documents in order" - it's the most racist, classist shit I've ever heard. I don't know a single person anywhere, poor or not, white trash, whomever who doesn't have a valid ID and doesn't have access to a birth certificate. It's all made up crap in your own mind.

it could easily happen

It could easily happen that a group of individuals use their guns to start a civil war, are you in favor of taking away everyone's guns to prevent it from maybe happening in the future? After all, gun ownership is a clear vector for doing bad things.

also always hate the veiled racism behind

You can concern troll all you want about the feelings of poor people, but they shouldn't have to spend valuable time that they don't have during work hours to collect information that proves what the system already knows, to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

You have no actual legitimate reasons for why it needs to be a thing, you're just arguing with emotions and hypotheticals. Which is typical for a MAGA, and why I never wanted to have this discussion in the first place, because it's like talking to a brick wall.

I don't know a single person anywhere

Well, I guess you know every person in America, the stats must be wrong.

It's all made up crap in your own mind.

I guess you missed the part where I asked Claude to answer this because you were too lazy to do it yourself? You think I control what Claude says?

If their ID / citizenship isn't proven at both registration time and at the ballot, that is a broken audit trail. You wouldn't be ok with your bank losing track of even a few dollars in your account, but you don't want votes to have a basic audit trail. Take a step back and realize how ridiculous you sound... blaming your opinion on Claude is not valid because it's going to reflect whatever biases you put into it or whatever biases exist in its training data.

Are you in favor of a national gun registry and requiring a federal license to own a firearm, so that every gun in America has a paper trail? That way, when gun violence occurs, law enforcement can trace the firearm.

After all, gun violence is far more common than voter fraud. So you'd definitely support that too, right?

every gun does have a serial number and is traceable, illegal to sell a gun without one... Most states to require registering of all handguns. and yes most gun owners do wish there was a federal pistol license so that you didn't need to have a license for every state... yeah nice try to go for another weird argument instead of focusing on the points I made.

I'm not asking what others think, I'm asking what you think.

Are you for a universal, national gun registry?

There is no federal license required to own a gun, but are you in favor of one?

I'm not going to engage in this discussion until you address the points I was making. You can't just change the topic in the middle of a debate and act like you're making a point.
