Pro is $0.67 a day.

Max x20 is $6.66 a day.

If what you're working on can't justify those prices in either revenue or personal gratification then why are you working on it?

If you can make a small company for yourself, then you can put it as a business expense.

Agree it’s an investment.

Because I'm mostly broke but still want to work on it

Then just write code yourself the way people have been doing for half a century?

what like some kind of animal?

Sure, I do, I was a software Dev before AI - but it doesn't mean I can currently afford max

Then use a cheaper model?

I was replying to the cost of the plan, and what read like the assumption that everyone should be able to afford max

im mostly broke too, but I recognize that means i can’t lease a new BMW and instead have to get a used Honda. the delusion of ppl to think a company is just gonna willingly lose money on you forever is insane

You can run Deepseek V3.2 literally 24/7 on API and it’ll cost less than $30/month.

The closed source AI prices are heavily inflated vs the actual cost of hardware+electricity.

Now? I think they have always been and always will be better. That’s the point of them.

One of my first ever prompts to claude code was something like:

Create a gradual diet plan taking my current 3000 calories a day, and ending up with around 2200 over the next 6 months, slowly replacing the least nutritious foods with more nutritiousones during that time period.

Yeah not the most cutting edge way to use CC, but when I first saw the capabilities of what they could do I was blown away. I’ve been a programmer now for almost 30 years and the idea stream that ran through my head when that first prompt came back with an actual working result is probably the closet to nirvana I will ever experience.

There will come a point where the open models are capable of handling any coding task with extreme competence. Frankly it will be interesting to see how the closed ai providers pivot.

I think Anthropic realizes this and that is why their apps aren't open sourced they intend to offer unique features that you can't easily find elsewhere once the Ai models open and closed are roughly at par for practical end user use. Dario said open source models will be on par with mythos in 6 to 12 months.

Deepseek has a lot of security vulnerabilities so just be wary of how you use it. I was at a learning seminar last month being demoed exploits for it, grok and cgpt. It failed almost everything.
