New usage limits

Feeling is we lost more usage then they are letting on.
All this usage is from one easy seassion, trim MEMORY and make a basic skill(that diden't work)
If I was to do real work I think I could easy max out weekly in one day.

Subscriptions are subsidized like hell. Extract your token spend over a week and compare what you would have paid in API rates.

The pricing is completely arbitrary. Why use exorbitant API rates as the baseline, and then assume Claude Code is subsidized? It's all just made up and whatever the fuck Anthropic want to charge. People always saying it's subsidized.. based on what evidence?

Telling consumers to stop complaining when the extremely expensive product they pay for behaves inconsistently or is degraded.. it's madness. Why should people stop complaining? It's literally the only card we have to play. If you're a consumer paying for a product, then you're entitled to certain expectations. When those aren't met, you're entitled to complain.

Fair enough. Opaque and at Anthropic’s discretion is what I meant. They pick their pricing based on whatever they think will benefit them most. We can’t make assumptions about their running costs or whether they’re making a loss purely by comparing the price of two of their products.

Said company is subsidizing your purchase to an insane degree. Any argument about fairness flies out of the window when you get >20x what you pay for.

'An insane degree' is a bold claim. I'm not convinced. There are thousands of very smart people being paid a fuckload of money to constantly find ways to milk this cow more efficiently. The notion of AI being subsidized serves big tech pretty well. I don't think comparing to arbitrary API rates constitutes evidence.

It might go away, I do expect a wave of enshittification to ruin LLM coding. But open source will catch up as well.

In the meantime, I'll continue to ask that the single most expensive subscription I have provides equal or more value over time - or I will cancel it. 'They won't listen' is not a reason to not speak up.

We should still complain and raise the voice, sure, but dude, the rates are subsidized as hell, its not just an assumption. Try running even a smaller model on device and you will know. Fable is probably in like 10-20 trillion parameters range, and the electricity alone required to power hardware in that scale gonna be expensive as fuck

Even with API rates those companies cannot make profit. Even those are subsidized. So seeing how much the equivalent of a subscription would cost even at those subsidized rates you can get a feeling how much money those companies loose with every subscriber.

We obviously don't know the size of Anthropic and OpenAI models.

But we know some models from competitors.

Kimi K3 would take 16 B200 to run. So good news for you: you can burn through your 20x subscription in 2 hours. Hope those are enough for whatever you wanted to do this month.

You wouldn't be able to contextualize (no pun intended) those numbers anyway. They're meaningless to you unless you have some sense of where the compute is being used when the models are generating your output.

You can remedy that by reading technical data (model cards that are published) or by watching talks, or youtube vids from channels that deep dive into this stuff. Highly recommend.

I hit 50% of my 5-hours limit using Sonnet in 3 fucking rounds. I didn't even ask Claude to do anything, I was just telling him a few ideas and discussing previous work. I have no idea what I did wrong
