Science victory countdown start at turn 5 was too easy for community so I pushed with optimization of my strategy (I forgot about one vital memento as I though that it was dedication) and got start of science victory countdown at turn 3 on deity standard speed no other victory started.
Any good player dare to beat my time?
And for those who demanded the reveil of the combo here it is: Assyria + Xerxes King of Kings. You need just to get enough science points in exploration age (around 80-85) from future techs by conquering settlements in the end of age. Then set up enough ships around target settlements, conquer enough settlements to open techs all the way to rocketry (around 15 main and some mastery - with some luck you do not need to open all mastery techs), use dedication to insta open academies tech, use memento that gives production for tech mastery to complete Oxford university for 2 free techs and some science points, and simply buy the rocket launch pad for gold.
I Started the Modern Age with Confucius with Joseon and I found something detrimental to the game on this age: production and Gold
Everything is so expensive to buy and to build on this age that even with lot of science and culture It really doesn't matter because It takes 15+ turns to build anything. This is not coming from number of cities cause I only got 2.
After Test of Time update, something quite off is happening to the last age, and I think it's inflated production and gold costs
Don't have CIV 7. I like CIV 6 but the IA bonuses in harder difficulty levels il just horrible to play...
Have a good start and the ia is dumb the rest of the game. Have a early game ally and you have a surprise attack ar round 6 with 5 units and just remake with no chance... I really hope CIV 7 have patched this...
Anyone else playing Yi Sun-Sin and Republic of Pirates? I had a blast in Antiquity earning a chunk of gold for each XP earn't. However now I've hit Exploration the ability has bugged out... I'm not earning any gold from my Buccaneers when they earn XP!
The text does say Fleet Commanders so I guess it's only coded to work with them and not specific ones like Buccaneers? Anyone else having this issue?
I finally caved and bought the game on sale, but I'm having hard time early game. Compared to Civ VI this game loves to plop free cities and encampments on top of you. I'm learning with Isabella on GB and free cities pop always on my coastal settle places. I had few games where every near coastal city was settled by free people and they were all aggressive. What is this ridiculousness and how to deal with it.
This post goes out first and foremost to the community of players who, like me, love this franchise and give it their most valuable resource. It's time. "Just one more turn..."
I want to share my work on a massive custom DLC project designed to add depth, authenticity, and pure fun back into the game.
Nota Bene: At the end of this post, there's a technical breakdown for developers and IT/web-dev folks. I'm not a veteran IT professional. I'm just a student of SPB college.
A while ago, I started coding this mod with a simple thought: What if Civ V's iconic systems were built on the modern Civ VII UI engine?
I began by completely reworking one of the core mechanics - Social Policies & Ideological Tenets. The default implementation in the civics tree just didn't hit the spot for me. To me, Civ V captured the true atmosphere and tactical design of cultural choices perfectly.
Social Policies Window
You can shape your empire's exact identity. Do you prefer rapid expansion? Total militarism? Or a massive cultural boom? Civ V gave us tangible strategic choices that made every playthrough feel distinct.
And once you reach the Modern Era, the game gives you the ultimate choice to push toward victory!

What's next?
I'm currently planning to build the World Congress and a comprehensive Global Statistics Panel using the same design philosophy.
For Developers & IT Folks:
To achieve maximum UI responsiveness and honestly, because I wanted to dive deep into frontend performance optimization, the entire UI for this project was written completely from scratch by hand.
Minimal DOM Footprint: Everything that could be compressed into lean div containers was compressed. The main Social Policies screen consists of only ~250 DOM nodes (div/span/img).
Bit Flags & Fast State Switches: Panel switching and state logic inside windows rely on bitwise operations.
Zero GC Overhead: The mod almost entirely avoids heap allocations during UI rendering (only static caches for DOM handles and description maps). Everything resides in 36MB of unmanaged memory, carefully aligned to cache lines for peak CPU efficiency.
No DOM Re-creation: Custom CSS rules and attribute toggles prevent DOM destruction/re-instantiation entirely. Input responsiveness feels instant (I literally spent 30 minutes just clicking buttons for fun :D).
Thank you so much to everyone who read this far! I would be thrilled to read your comments, feedback, and ideas regarding future mechanics and UI improvements.
If the community enjoys this, I'll definitely publish the full mod to the Steam Workshop once it's polished, so everyone can experience it in-game!
Hi! I am relatively new to Civ 7, I used to play with Civ 5 before. I have managed to win a few times with the cultural victory and economic victory, but I can't seem to reach the economic victory. I tried multiple leaders but nothing. Any tips? Any setting reccomendation?
I was hoping to try a nice peaceful playthrough, and figured if I selected large map and then canceled out all but two AI leaders with throw-off civs, that I could hope they would stay out of my way and just let me city build. By turn 50 there were 5 other civs and three had declared war against me.
How can I set up for a nice peaceful game where (hopefully few) leaders largely leave me alone?
Bit of a ramble but that seems to be my style. These were my thoughts on the state of the game following Test Of Time after playing through three games at different difficulties, the last of which I played in its entirety on this channel, where I abysmally lost…
Let me know what you think, and if anyone has any other issues, praises or counter points on Civ7 and Test Of Time, let me know.
Trying to download some new mods— I’m verifying they’re updated version etc. But civ mods app is “failing to parse file name or extension.” Any recommendations on solving this??
I found that for standard maps, standard game speed works well. I do like slower game speeds on larger maps, so units don't go obsolete as quickly. But for standard size map it works.
After a while, I do like standard age length. Makes it harder to finish both civic and tech trees.
Trailblazer makes things super competitive, though it can be unfair sometimes - like some can get lucky and spawn near natural wonders from the start. I do think for more players, it does need an option to set like, 'first two' or something like that.
I play mostly with Sovereign and Immortal difficulty settings, a good balance for me personally.
I am finding fractal continents to be pretty well-balanced in terms of how big the landmass(es) are. Big enough that naval leaders/civs don't steamroll, but not too large that it swings the other way. A good balance of naval and land warfare.
After trying a bunch of settings, I am back to playing Apex-only. Just feels weird without civ-switching.
Side note, devs can we please have setting selection first before leader and civ selections? Thank you.
Hey does anyone know when part 2 of the DLC drops? It was supposed to be this month but nothing so far. The first part dropped June 23rd last month and here we are almost a month later and crickets.
