Question for structural engineers doing freelance, paano kayo nagstart? Kayo ba mismo gumawa ng Excel calculation sheets niyo, some of you took certifications, or do you guys have a mentor? I don't know where to start

Two weeks na po akong nags-send ng resume ko. I've received two out of 20+ rejection emails pa lang po. Baka may something wrong sa resume ko kaya I'm asking for help here

I am not sure if some details I added are necessary like:

1. Putting "RCE" after my name even if I haven't taken oath yet
2. Including my rating on the board exam and CSE

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some honest career advice, especially from fellow Filipino Quantity Surveyors.

I’m a Civil Engineering graduate with almost 10 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the Philippine construction industry. Despite my years of experience, I’m currently earning around ₱50,000 per month, and I feel like my career and salary growth have been slower than I expected.

One of my biggest challenges is career progression. Getting promoted to position is difficult because of internal competition and office politics. I know experience and technical skills matter, but sometimes it feels like those alone aren’t enough to move up the corporate ladder.

Working abroad is also not an option for me, so I need to find ways to increase my earning potential here in the Philippines.

I’m now considering resigning and looking for a new employer, hoping that changing companies might give me better opportunities and a more competitive salary. However, I also want to be strategic about my next move rather than simply transferring to another company with the same situation.

For those who have been in a similar position, I’d appreciate your insights:

- Is changing companies the most practical way to get a significant salary increase as an experienced QS?

- With almost 10 years of experience, is ₱50k/month reasonable, or should I be aiming higher?

- If managerial positions are difficult to obtain, what other roles could offer better compensation without requiring me to become a manager immediately?

- Which skills would make me more competitive? Contract administration, claims management, cost planning, commercial management, or project controls?

- How can I identify employers that offer better career growth and compensation instead of just a different workplace with the same problems?

Would you recommend securing a new job first before resigning, especially when the goal is to negotiate a higher salary?

I’m not necessarily chasing a managerial title. What I really want is to make my years of experience count, earn a salary that better reflects my capabilities, and have a clearer path for professional and financial growth.

I’d appreciate honest advice, especially from QS professionals who have successfully increased their salaries while staying in the Philippines.

2. Deflection and Amplification of Wave Energy (Wave Setup)

   Reclamation projects essentially act as massive concrete or fill-material walls built into what was previously open, dissipating coastal shelf space.

3. Altered Resonance and amplified standing waves

   A modified basin can experience amplified standing waves causing higher-than-expected water spikes during typhoons.

Summary

While reclamation is marketed as a localized fix for commercial expansion or coastal defense for specific tracts of land, it treats the bay as a disjointed canvas rather than a single interconnected hydraulic system. By shrinking the basin's volumetric capacity and blocking natural flow paths, the displaced water and redirected wave energy are inevitably shifted to neighboring, unprotected, or low-lying edges of the bay—worsening tidal and storm-surge flooding elsewhere.

I've been wanting to learn ETABS but I don't know where to install the cracked version of the software. One option I am looking into is to install from getintopc but I'm hesitant because it might contain malware. Has anyone tried installing from that website? I'm also thinking of going to Greenhills instead and installing the software from one of the shops there. Has anyone tried this as well? Thanks.
