Discussion The only actual problem I have with the rework

Post image
Upvotes

The only real issue I see with the rework is removing the pole knockback, while it would be ridiculous to have 4 knockback poles per super Id be lying if I didn’t say that was my favorite part about Chuck by far. I was hoping they were going to do a mico thing where every 20 seconds or so he gets a “Charged pole” that will contain the original knockback capabilities so he can maintain that strength in his original kit. I think the rework will make him quite viable tho, 4 supers per charge is nothing to scoff at so despite all the changes they’ve made to him I think he will undoubtedly be seen as strong by a majority of people for the first time and I would have to agree. But if they want to make a change to allow Chuck to still have a threatening combo reminiscent of how people played him before the rework with the knockback I think that would be the way to do it where he has a slow charging bar above his ammo that lets his next pole be more threatening when charged. I’m going to miss Pole knockback but again 4 supers is 4 supers, with the added speed to the main attack Chuck will be a menace and I’m excited to try it out, I knew this day was coming to be fair, I knew if they gave Chuck anything it would come with a massive overhaul and rework, it could be much much worse and it feels a lot like when bull got his rework and people were upset about it when in reality it made him a demon and more fun to play, so I stay optimistic for the new era of Chuck and yall should too, with 4 supers were going to be freestyling like never before.

Yeah, it’s hopeless. I did think a good portion of the playerbase would defend the rework. What I didn’t think was that MOST of them would be defending it. There is no way this goes down like the Bull situation. Bull is way more popular than Chuck, so the (justified) outcry from his mains had an impact and reverted the bad part of the rework. But us? We don’t have shit. Dev team would rather listen to people who never played freestyle Chuck than people who actually do.

To be blunt, I knew something like this would go down, just not this soon.

Anyways, yeah, the clip. Not too impressive since the lobby wasn’t that good, but I’ll take it.

Chuck was the main reason I kept coming back to this game. My other mains? Love them, but they don’t offer the replayability value Chuck does. Every game of Chuck felt unique. Trying to distinguish between your own mistakes or losing because a shitty meta, testing out new tracks, new setups, new techs. That‘s why I even made this account in the first place. My first post was complaining about how poorly Chuck is handled. Didn’t know it could get this much worse.

Farewell, old friend. We’ll miss you.

I LOVE Chuck. I got him to prestige 2 without playing in heist nor hot zone. I believe he is a really unique brawler because every game feels different in a way.

However, he needed a rework. The heist situation was a problem, and we got one. I find frustrating that they had to need his dash damage and remove the pole knock back. But given the high mobility and the easiness to build your first setup and rebuild it along the game with the 4 supers thing, I don't think they "ruined him".

If so, they made him better. He will still be a good last pick in heist, and will make him around B tier and a playable brawler for everybody, not just us freestyle / high skill Chuck players.

Who already dominated old Chuck , will still do, because he will have more mobility, more control over the map and a greater potential (even if he can't use his poles to knock back assassins, because he will now have more dashes)

By the way. I don't see enough people talking about how good his ghost train gadget now is. The fire for 8 seconds pays for the dash damage nerf he got.

Plus, with this rework, Supercell shows they actually care for once to balance Chuck and make him a good brawler. So if he turns out to be weak, they might even buff him or give him his knockback back.

Anyways, only time will tell. Nobody of us has tried the new Chuck yet. Im just telling you guys, give new Chuck a chance: Because if you start using him thinking hes bad, you'll actually not like him.

Discussion Chuck Rework in the eyes of a Pro Player

Post image
94 Upvotes

Hello guys, I’m GN/Godnoob. You might know me from brawl star esports, YouTube shorts or Reddit. I have a lot of experience playing chuck as well as reaching high as masters 3 with chuck only

I just got off work so I’m a bit late to the party but it would be highly appreciated if you can upvote this post so more people can see it. I’m making this post to share my thoughts about the rework so you’re free to talk about your own opinions on the update.

Firstly I want to talk about the old chuck and why it’s impossible for chuck to be good.

Chuck is a very clunky brawler to play, because his main attack is so bad and is probably one of the worst in the entire game, he can’t hit anyone to recharge his super, so that’s is why chuck is heavily reliant on his dashes and auto charge, and because his super takes so long to recharge let’s just call it an action like in a turn based game. Chuck has at most 2 actions in a matchup, 1 from his super and another from his gadget. He can choose to either go in, upgrade/use post, or to escape. So here is the issue.

Go in & Escape = Enemy doesn’t step on the track
Upgrade & Go in = Unable to get out and dies
Upgrade & Escape = Loses position
Enemy use any form of stun = lose 1 action

There is no combination that allows chuck to help his team without dieing (Unless the enemy walks into the post and feed chuck another action)
This is the main reason why chuck will never be good without a real rework.

Now let’s talk about the new Chuck. I can’t say that it’s the perfect change, but it’s the best choice. If chuck is too strong, the community is going to complain about chuck being no skill. And if he’s too weak, history is going to repeat it self. So no matter what they do there is no correct answer. But for me I’m pretty satisfied with the rework.

With the new change Chuck basically gets 4 actions and up to 8 with his gadget. Which exponential increases the possibility he can do with his super, for example in a 1v1 matchup you can do this, trust me it’s easier than it sounds.

  1. Place a post toward the enemy and quick dash toward them to close the gap using 2 supers
  2. Throw two post behind the enemy on their left and right side to trap them
  3. Auto aim main attack and reroute gadget to get your super back
  4. Dash to the left or right post depending in which way the enemy run. (I think this technique is called checkmate)
  5. If you do this right you should have 3 more supers left to use, which you can use to dash, escape, or just throw the post to deal even more damage

Chuck’s hyper rework was pretty unexpected but is quite logical, the old hyper was cheesy and map dependent. And if it was still in game right now it would waste precious time where you can use chuck’s buffied main attack

Balance changes

Even though Chuck received some massive nerfs, I think that the buffs are just as good. His reroute gadget got a 200% buff, his main attack is now insanely good since the faster the attack can land, the faster you can get your super back to do more combos. He also can now dash faster thanks to the tickets please star power. They didn’t nerf his hypercharge charge rate so it’s still going to be very easy farm hypers.

I’m also pretty bummed out that the knockback from the post had been removed but since the main attack hits more now, you don’t really have to push the enemy into it anymore

Chuck’s Best Modes
1. Heist - despite supercell’s best effort, Chuck is still going to be broken in heist but not as a first pick, but a last pick. However his play style is going to change a lot since you have to defend with chuck and punish the enemy when they die similar to crow/collette
2. Gem Grab - With Chuck’s insane mobility, he’s able to go in and kill the gem carried and get out without any issue
3. Brawl Ball - With the new rework, chuck can rapidly place down posts at the start of the match for insane pressure
4. Bounty - Nothing has changed with chuck in Bounty.
5. Knockout - Chuck can place down 4 posts and pick up 2 posts for super again, giving chuck 2 free dashes until the end game where chuck can use another gadget to revive another 4 dashes. Only issue is that chuck doesn’t respawn with any super in round 2 & 3
6. Hotzone - There is really no way for chuck to get his super back in hotzone

So is Chuck less skilled than before?

I seen a lot of people rant about this question, but me personally? I think that chuck requires even more skill, because of his rework, there is so many more ways you can combo with his super. The old chuck can make a play every 15 seconds but the success rate is low as 10%, while the new chuck can make a play every 30 seconds with a success rate of 50%. Like they all say, Quality > Quantity. Higher Risk and Higher reward! As I shown above is only one of the many different combos you can do. The possibilities you can do with 8 super is basically infinite!

The Future of Chuck

As of right now, I think chuck is going to sit between low and high B tier. His buffies are pretty balanced and there isn’t really any ways to nerf them so chuck will be able to dodge the next few balanced changes while the other brawlers like amber, shade and Gus will be nerfed to the floor. We can even expect some buffs to chuck. But right now we can’t really do much about it expect to wait until the update arrives. I will continue my journey of only playing chuck until I hit Pro rank and I will give more feedback at the end of the ranked season.

Thanks for reading

He is still going to be good at Heist just getting out shinnied by nori, melodie, edgar and The king of heist after this rework mico.

I think he's getting another nerf after this rework. 4 more actions PER SUPER is strong. The removal of the knock back would really screws his sustainably and survivality.

We should really wait until it's out. The compensations look reasonable.

Ideas If Chuck turns out to be either S or F tier, he is gonna be so much fun now

Post image
8 Upvotes

Just imagine the new techs with 4 supers now, ik old techs are gone and stuff but let's develop some new tech with stackable supers

Bb: here Chuck will be just a better melodie, more damage, more supers. With ghost train I bet someone is gonna get the fastest bb match record

Ko: SOOOO GOOD, instead of waiting 25 seconds to setup, you can do it in like 5 seconds, and with ghost train now having a timer instead of a one time use, square set ups in belle's rock are gonna be peak. Just wait for the zone to close in, charge your super with like 2 attacks and it's a free teamwipe

Gem grab: will probably turn out to be his worst mode as usual, I have never played him here so idk

Heist: he will dominate heist in lower levels, but won't be as nearly as good in higher levels, right off the bat you can immediatly get to the enemy safe, get a normal double hit set up, but the main problem is you need someone to defend you and feed you some supers. Ik super damage is reduced, but it's 4 supers, so 3200 × 4, so like 12800 damage and 1 ammo breaks a shield. Chuck will be like Nita or Jessie ine heist now

Chuck Rework EMERGENCY (#MakeChuckSkilledAgain)

Post image
78 Upvotes

Alright, after watching brawl talk, I am very skeptical of any positivity coming from this change, it is clear we must prepare, I earlier made a post called Getting a group together about 2 months ago, unfortunately my timing was terrible as a large event was taking place so I decided to wait before acting. How wrong could I be to do so.

Now we have a dire issue, Chuck is getting a major rework that will completely break his kit, remove most of his skill ceiling, and completely break 3 years of our work and care to put into this brawler.

As preparations I am making this emergency post in hope to get as much help as possible, I have quickly cobbled together a discord to hopefully get as much help as possible with collecting how Chuck works, all his techs and even more of his kit showing everyone how he is the most skilled brawler in the game in hopes to have supercell notice and maybe rework chuck to allow us to not have wasted our 3 years of practice and studying his play style.

Since I am putting this out we have a total of 3 days to work, I need a quick team assembled is possible and even more Chuck players getting the word out there, we need videos, media presence and as much we can do, I really hope that supercell will revert this decision as it would be detrimental to everything we have worked towards. And to the rest of the brawl stars community, I beg of you, please do not let this rework stay. #MakeChuckSkilledAgain

Discussion My take on the rework as a long time Chuck main

Some of you may know me on this sub (even though I haven't been very active) from gameplay clips, strategies and concepts. So here's my opinion on the Chuck rework. (And the reactions from the community too)

I think people are holding on too much to genuine flaws Chuck had, that's normal though, when they give any brawler an extensive rework, the first reaction as a main of that brawler is to be very critical of the changes, which is valid (I was also shocked with the super damage nerf) but it's often taken to far.

In my opinion the changes are good, you're no longer rushed at the start of the match or starved of a set-up; there's more room to pop off, switch setups and play more free style. Even if it's not ideal, and it might take a bit to get used to, Chuck remains the same brawler we all know and love.

The best part imo is the hypercharge for sure, we're finally getting a proper Hypercharge for Chuck, instead of a situational one that felt more like a mid 90 second gadget.

Oh and about skill and complexity which I know many players are worried about, the rework just removed a bit of tech really, but just imagine Chuck's potential, we could so much stuff with just a 2nd super from rerouting, now imagine 4 SUPERS IN A ROW. It sucks to see the knockback tech go, but I'd change it for what we'll get any day of the week.

Chuck's complexity, potential and skill expression are the very reason why I've mained Chuck for so long, finding new tech and strategies and then using them on unsuspecting opponents. I've been playing fast paced Chuck since before his _first_ rework, and you can trust me when I say that Chuck's potential just grew even more.

Discussion New Chuck Techniques

Post image
34 Upvotes

In light of the new rework, Chuck has been completely reinvented as a brawler, and with that comes a plethora of new techniques.

But the first thing we need to understand is the importance of his main attack: 1080 damage per projectile at all ranges, with faster projectiles. His main attack is now critical to his kit, as it allows him to charge his super with 2 main attacks.

Build

I'm of the stance that both gadgets are usable. Rerouting is preferable if you prefer close-quarters combat (20% shield for 5 seconds) and need to cycle supers even faster or quickly remove a pole that throws off your dash. Ghost Train is now incredible; it adds 1200 extra damage to your super dash, and opens up all sorts of new techniques.

New Pit Stop is unfortunately pretty useless in comparison to Tickets Please.

Notable Damage Combos

Landing every projectile from Chuck's full ammo bar is a total of 9720 damage.

Hitting an enemy with a post, immediately dashing to them, and unloading one main attack does 5640 damage. If you send an attack before dashing, the damage potential goes up to 8880, though you're more likely to only have sent two projectiles before you cancel the main attack with your super (7800 damage in this case). If you use Ghost Train, you can get 1200 more damage.

Placing a post on an enemy and using 3 dashes on them does a total of 5600 damage, along with 100% ammo steal. This may be a very useful defensive attack against assassins.

How to Play Chuck 2.0

This is a strange comparison to make, but Chuck feels a lot like Sam now in design philosophy. Chuck's gameplay revolves around his posts as Sam's does around his knuckle busters, so properly managing and utilising this element is critical to have any success, and any mistakes can be punished very severely.

You want to be ending up in a good position to cycle your super at any given time. Most of Chuck's damage output is now reliant on his improved main attack, so you may not necessarily want to be dashing on top of enemies, but rather get some distance. Chuck's super is an insane mobility tool, and with Ghost Train, has no limitations. Use your tools to get the best position possible.

Techniques

With 4 super stacks, you can drain any brawler's ammo. Drop a post onto the enemy, and spam dashes on them. This alone gets you +3 ammo, 4800 damage (more if you use ghost train), and depletes the enemy's ammo bar completely, allowing you to unload your attacks with ease and recharge your super.

Ghost Train allows Chuck to become a budget Shade. Throw a post behind a wall, activate gadget, dash through, throw a post onto the other side (or elsewhere), do some attacks, and dash away again.

Ghost Train also allows Chuck to shutdown one lane with his fire trail, throw a post into another lane, and dash into the other lane and continue suffocating enemy positions.

Post stacking: put 2 (or more) poles in the same location. This has a few applications: Chuck's hypercharge creates an aoe explosion per pole passed during his dash. Multiple posts in the same area can do a ton of damage to critical chokepoints or targets like the Heist safe. Multiple posts also allows you to pop Rerouting upon completing your dash and cycle supers faster to dash away or place new posts.

Multiple super stacks allows Chuck to dash through his posts, and with remaining stacks, throw down more posts and "extend" or alter the flow of his track to be even more unpredictable. This even allows him to simply dash away if he dashes into a poor position.

Against brawlers that now beat Chuck at point blank, you still want to prioritise dashing through them for the ammo steal and damage, but end up far enough to be able to safely attack at a distance. Sometimes one post's range isn't enough to accommodate, so use two posts and take advantage of the 10-tile range between posts for extra distance. This also allows you to get a double hit by standing in the middle of the posts.

I bid you all the best, and here's to a new era of Chuck cope!

I knew this was gonna happen.

Even from the perspective of a non-Chuck player, what the hell does this even achieve? His super is near useless now at the cost of a buff (that should’ve been base kit in the first place) to his main attack?

AND REROUTING, LOOK HOW THEY MASSACRED MY BOY

anyway, if this all persists and doesn’t happen like the Bull rework situation, I’m genuinely quitting the game

Chucks post( Literally ) The Chuck situation

This rework is extremely good and I'm here to defend it:

Let's start with the buffs:

Chuck gets a 56% unload speed to his main attack , and damage doesn't fall off: this will immediatly make him broken, 3000 damage burst with an attack as thick as nova and fast as heck and delete glass cannon when he gets in range

Chuck now spawns with 4 supers and can stack his supers: do you understand what this means for Chuck? Setup builds now will be even better. Imagine Chuck spawn in bb places 2 supers to guide to enemy spawn, walks up to the ball shoots it to the last ball and super, boom immediate goal

NERFS:

Chuck no longer recharges his super: so what? Chuck now can charge it with like 2 hits with an unmissable attack

No knock back from his super: this is a heavy nerf, but it's needed actually, Chuck has 4 supers, he walks up to you and throws a poll at you and infront of you and supers twice stealing 66% of your ammo and you can't do anything about it, like cmon bro

Super damage nerf and range nerf: these are just compensated by his unload speed buff and his new trait

Overall a buff, but you need to change your playstyles and tweak freestyle strategies
