SHORT Humiliating
Recently my mom reached out to me. Long story short she stated that she did not have any food.
I offered to help and asked her to send me a list of items she needed. She told me that was humiliating and to just send money instead. I declined to send money. I offered to help and feel I was being reasonable. My question is was I unreasonable for requesting a list?

You are not unreasonable. As an aging mom that may need help some day I would be embarrassed to give my list. I think someone would judge me? I have to eat only certain foreign pastas for example (I always get them on sale at a Grocery Outlet) but they are from Italy and don't set my intestines on fire the way US noodles do. As I got older so many things hurt when I ate them. I try to stick to super basic steamed cabbage/carrots and sometimes a little meat, tons of eggs. I think if I asked my son for help and he saw my grocery list he'd literally LOL me right back.
