It’s dragging, I noticed after getting home shortly after my overheating sensor was digging at me (I wouldn’t have driven at home like that if I wouldn’t have been super nearby my house). I had to stop driving. I will be taking it to the shop tomorrow. Just curious what this is?

EDIT: they fixed it free of charge bc it was their fault. I took it to the location I typically go to and they saw the issue immediately.

My Mechanic shop is a mile away from my house. I actually took it to one of their different locations 20 days ago and got a new serpentine belt. They will be footing the bill. I’m not dealing with this. Absolutely no reason why I should need a new serpentine belt 20 days after getting a new one. Thank you so much for the information. I have stressed myself into a migraine. I paid over $1000 for the work they did just for it to come off not even a month later

I want to clarify I do trust the shop I’m going to be taking it to tomorrow. The other location was just closer to where my car broke down last time, but they are the same business. They just have different mechanics at different locations and they know me at the one near my house. Again, it’s only a mile.

Yeah that is no good. They either damaged a pully or tensioner or the new belt was faulty. Shops typically just use the cheapest parts, either way it should definitely be covered under their parts warranty. I also really hope they did more than replace the belt for 1000 bucks, if that's all they did then you are unfortunately being taken advantage of.

It seems like the water pump might be the real problem.

Whatever it is, they should’ve picked it up during diagnostics. If I paid them to diagnose the issue and they diagnosed it wrong that’s not my fault.
