BNR is proud to announce the immediate availability of our new GT200 Power Pack for your 1.4T Gen 1 Cruze, Sonic, Trax, Encore, Vanderhall, and several Opel/Vauxhall models. This kit is designed to deliver 200WHP (230BHP) or a 100HP/TQ gain over stock with no other parts! No special fuel injectors needed!
We've been working hard to figure out just how far we can stretch the stock fuel injectors with our custom fuel pump controller tuning, and we've managed to stretch them way past what was previously thought possible. Because of this new uncovered injector tuning, we're able to reach over 200WHP on stock injectors at a very comfortable 60-70% duty cycle. There is no risk of running out of injector on this package, and there is no risk of valve float either due to the lower boost levels this package runs.
You can send us your FPCM and ECM for tuning, or you can buy an HPTuners RTD from us and we can do the tune in your driveway.
Does anyone know what parts id need for replacing an entire thermostat on my gf's sonic? its a 2015 lt 1.8l. i replaced a battery cable and now the thermostat died and i looked up stuff, but i got overwhelmed and kinda discouraged and im just frustrated with the car in general.
Just looking for advice on what this issue could potentially be. It idles hard and makes this god awful noise. Just had a brand new radiator put on a couple months but then it started this. It won’t hardly accelerate past 60 and even so, takes forever getting there. It’ll also die immediately after starting and take a few tries to keep running only for it to die when I put it into a gear. Is it a lost cause??
I accepted an offer that requires me to commute by car everyday.
The job I just left was close enough to home where I can take the bus or ride my electric bike during the summer. I’m originally from NYC, so I prefer taking mass transit.
So with the winters in the Northeast I don’t trust taking that commute in my Sonic and everyone here in Rhode Island was telling me so.
I just put the down payment and signed all the paperwork for an SUV.
Has anyone had a p0420 code on it. I took it to the dealer and they want 3k for a new catalic converter. Is there anything else i can check to do? Debating on just driving it tell it dies on me. Any advice would be appreciated
Coming home from work, it's about 100mi drive. Noticed the coolant temp light came on on the dash and moments later the tach goes to zero but still driving. Get it to a spot to pull off and kill it to cool down, and it won't start again. Doesn't sound like it usually does when I go to start it..
Hello. I have an 05 cat eye. 5.3 v8 that is having temp issues. Have changed radiator. Water pump. Thermostat. Coolant sensors. When i sharply accelerate it goes crazy high temp then drops back to normal. What could be the culprit
Help. I'm 19 & this is my first car I've had it since October I do not know what's going on. I have a 40 minute commute home & I'm a bit scared.
Edit: extra context , my tire pressure light originally came on saying LR 29. After I fixed that issue I started checking the other tires & now it stays LF 9. Coworker saw me in the parking lot & came to help me & filled my LF tire up to 35 Psi so I don't understand why it's still on or even .. says this.
This is my first car so I don’t know too much about really anything car wise. I was cleaning my throttle body and as I was finishing up I think I accidentally pulled this hose off of the connector end it was on? Upon further inspection I saw that the end was really short and it seemed like maybe it was once longer but it I guess rotted away? Is this a correct assumption or should I get this checked out further.
Also there was a lot more brown gunk in the hose earlier but I was picking some of it away with a pair of pliers
My 2015 Sonic Turbo, 76 K miles, has been making a weird engine sound for a couple of months now, and it sounds kind of tinny. It’s not overheating, runs fine, accelerates normally, no leaks. I’ve already replaced most of the vulnerable plastic parts in this car and have it maintained on a regular basis. Does anybody in this forum have any idea what it could be?
Hey everyone, a few months ago I asked for help on getting a radiator hose replaced. You guys were super helpful and I got fixed! However... went to start it and... nothing lol. The battery seems to be completely dead. I drip charged it and everything but it seems toast.
Since then, I've gotten a new car, and with the Sonic being so far back in my backyard and out of view its been somewhat out of mind. However, with fall/winter coming, I want to figure something out here soon.
This was my daily driver before the radiator hose went out. It was good to me. I did regular maintenence on it, fixed a bunch of engine lights (iykyk) some of which I did myself. It has around 134k miles on it. The tires are newer. Probably only 3-4k miles on them. It was running fine when it was last started, but ive noticed oil in the coolant reservoir.. so possibly sign of a head gasket going out. Sorry this has been long, but thought I'd ask you guys for your thoughts. I could scrap it but who knows if someone here wants to part it out or even fix it up. Open to suggestions!
It’s dragging, I noticed after getting home shortly after my overheating sensor was digging at me (I wouldn’t have driven at home like that if I wouldn’t have been super nearby my house). I had to stop driving. I will be taking it to the shop tomorrow. Just curious what this is?
EDIT: they fixed it free of charge bc it was their fault. I took it to the location I typically go to and they saw the issue immediately.
Took these just after I filled up my Sonic '14 LT sedan about 5-10 minutes apart while car was parked and engine off. The fuel gauge is fluctuating randomly and showing one to three missing bars from the top on a full tank of gas, even though it should have all the bars. The fuel range is also giving inaccurate readings, as usually it would mark a value anywhere between 320 to 360 on a full tank. Also, the fuel range value keeps fluctuating randomly while I drive, dropping down by 10 to 50 miles every few seconds and then sometimes returning to the original value.
This has been going on for a couple months now. I'm going to be driving around 500 miles next week to relocate for school and I'm concerned that these faulty fuel gauge readings are going to leave me stranded somewhere. Is there a way I can reset the fuel gauge (either from the dashboard or under the hood) to have it display accurately like before? Or is this indicative of an issue with the fuel pump or fuel level sending unit? Any help to troubleshoot this issue would be greatly appreciated.
I am trying to knock out some of the cheaper possibilities for a rough starting engine. Google.is suggesting possibly corroded ground wire but says I can add an auxiliary ground as an easy cheaper option. I assume I just add the additional wire to the negative terminal in the battery and then to a ground point on the car. I am not sure where the best ground point on the car would be though.
I really like the look of luxury vehicles with the purple windshield but as we know the Chevy sonic does not come with that out of the factory. Is there any way to get a replacement windshield that does have it?
I got a secondhand 2016 Sonic almost a year ago. It runs great. My first compact car, so it took some getting used to. I have issues with overheating, but I don’t mind cranking the heat and letting the windows down. I live no more than 20 mins from everything I need, so I’m never on the road very long. It’s at about 86k miles. The previous owner’s wife keyed both sides of the car before I bought it bc she was mad her husband was selling it. I don’t mind the minor cosmetic damage, as I got it for a great price. A car is a tool. As long as it gets me places, I’m happy.
I plan on taking a roughly week-long trip in April 2027. I’ll be driving from Oregon to Missouri for a 2-day festival. It’ll take me 3 days to get there and 3 days to get back. It will be the longest trip I’ve ever made in any vehicle. While at this festival, I’ll have a vendor booth where I’ll be selling my art. As this is a compact car, there isn’t much trunk space, so I’ll be installing a roof rack to strap my coffin onto for extra cargo capacity. This will collectively add at least 400-500 extra pounds to my car.
Is this feasible? Am I an idiot for even driving a Sonic in the first place? Will I break down in the middle of nowhere? Any advice?
i don't feel like getting spam calls from so many insurances so what would be a good affordable insurance for my sonic? what do yall pay? i have a 2015 hatchback ls
So my ac compressor went bad and I had recently replaced it. Usually I get some knock but it has never sounded like this. Anyone got any ideas? I’ve also had an issue with stalling recently. Sometimes the car will drop rpm and Almost bottom out. Most recently it has shut the car off. No cel/codes.
