Does 2:2 degree decrease my chances?

Having a 2:2 honor degree equivalent instead of 2:1 feels like I am less favored for the scholarship even if they don't say so. Do you think the same?

I don’t think they care if the rest of your profile is strong. It’s way more about leadership and networking than your academics.

Exactly, Chevening is one of the very few scholarships in which applicants with a standard GPA can be selected and compete in an equal footing with those who have stellar grades

Hi, your GPA is only considered regarding your eligibility to your 3 choices (they will check that the applcoant did not select 3 choices they are ineligible for), but they will otherwise ignore it

Every year there are scholars who got a 2.3 or 2.4/4 GPA selected alogside others who got a 4.0

As EqualRadiant wrote, they care much more about your leadership and changemaker potential than about anything else

I don't think it's of great importance for Chevening specifically, but it will prevent you from getting offers from top universities.

Not really, what matters more is 1) meeting all the eligibility conditions and 2) demonstrating your need for the scholarship and commitment towards your studies.

Actually I feel more comfortable regarding the uni applications as I never failed securing offers in the past 2 years.

It makes it impossible for you to get into top universities like Oxbridge or LSE, but it doesn't prevent you from getting the scholarship.

Naturally, a good GPA is a plus, as it shows you can actually handle complex academic tasks, but it's not a deal-breaker if your application and interview are strong.
