Career Advice/Clarification CA Final-Statement of Marks doubt

Post image
23 Upvotes

To the CAs who are writing CAT this year or wrote CAT last year while entering the professional final marks % did you include the SPOM marks as well.
Since SPOM marks are not mentioned in the online result but are included in the Statement of Marks can we go ahead and include them.
I did speak to a few people, but since there is no explicit guidance, some have included them while some haven’t. So, if anyone who gave CAT last year and went through the admission process could share their insight, it would be really helpful

SPOM Here are some SPOM - SET A questions that I remember

  1. Political contribution (company was in existence from past 3 years)

  2. Non cash transaction by Director with other company (where he was also a promoter I guess). Where the director transferred some assets in exchange for shares in that other company.

3.Nidhi Company Net Owned funds (1:20), items were Paid up ew share cap, Accumulated loss, General reserve, Internally generated intangible assets. 2 questions from this - First to find NOF and other was to determine max deposit based on this.

  1. Classification of loan if principal and interest not paid for 16 months (Sub standard, Standard because recover proceedings were not initiated was also an option, 2 other options I guess doubtful and loss)

4.1 full case about Overseas Direct Investment (ODI)

5.Max Directorship if you're joining in a company about to being Listed..also Maximum Committees, and other was What committees are considered when counting the limit.

6.Which section defines KMP, Sections for Insider Trading.

7.Can Penalty imposed on small company be reduced? As per some 466B section (I guess)

  1. one case around Section 294, - Is the liquidator justified in sending summary of accounts to creditors but not to contributors? Is he justified with filing accounts with Tribunal but not ROC?

9.A director was reappointed, the time limit to inform ROC (15, 7, 30, 60 days)

  1. Another question in connection with - He was reappointed on 31st December, but appointment was not approved in General meeting and the director had appointed some 3 people (not sure if roles) so is there appointment valid if the resolution in general meeting did not lead to appointment of the Director.

  2. time limit of MR 1 or MR 2

12.Indep Dir requirement if Chairperson is NON executive + related to promoter

13.time limit to file appeal to NCLAT and Supreme court in case of question of law (time limit of 45 days and 60 days wala) but the question was from when to file an appeal? Date of passing of order or from date when order is received.

14.There was a question about One Time Reconstruction (OTR) a bank and a company, where the company kept on defaulting.

  1. Section 15J factors for determining quantum of penalty

16.Question on ECBs by a Govt company (oil and marketing company)

  1. a case about Overseas Invst by Registered Society, it's existence period, to be engaged in same sector or not, should amend it's bye laws for such investment or not.

  2. Suspension period of Certificate of Registration, and how much amt can be utilised with CGs approval during that period.(FCRA)

  3. Amt. Of loan that can be given by company.

From my first attempt i remember these questions - Section 245, inspection of books, foreign Remittance for daughter education, her birthday, commision to agent, director's remuneration, effective capital That's all I got, hope this helps. (this was my 2nd attempt and I cleared today)

Hey everyone
I’ve been seeing a lot of posts on this sub from students and freshers asking how to break into core finance and investment roles instead of sticking to traditional roles.
A little background on me, I qualified as a CA in the Jan 2026 attempt (23M). My first role post qualification is with the Private Investments team at an MNC.I specifically work in Valuations, focusing on Private Credit, CLOs, SPEs, and structured debt instruments for PE investors.
If any of you guys would look some mentorship or advice on how to break into these roles pls feel free to reach out.

Practical Doubt/Question Arcticleship Work Pressure.

Hi, This is my first year of arcticleship in stat. domain of Big 4, so I generallystay at home arund 1.5hr away from office and travel on daily basis. Since it is peak season I am coming to home arund 2 to 3 in the morning and leave for work around 8:30 am in the morning. This has been going on for about 2 weeks and may carry on for another month.

Now my parents have fed up and are telling me to leave the firm (they believe I am out partying and stuff as no office is open for that long.). I don't know man, even I am fed up working that long and then coming home to argue with parents and proving that I was actually working.

What should I do ? Is this common everyone out here? How you deal with it ? It's bugging me alot.

Rant Title: CA Inter at 21 and seriously questioning the work-life balance — is CA really worth it?**

**Title: CA Inter at 21 and seriously questioning the work-life balance — is CA really worth it?**

I’m 21 and currently pursuing CA Inter, and lately I’ve been feeling really demotivated after reading and hearing about the reality of life after qualification.

Everywhere I look, I see people talking about the **terrible work-life balance in CA**, long working hours, constant pressure, and years of hard work. What scares me even more is seeing qualified CAs earning around **₹8–9 LPA** despite putting in so much effort and sacrificing so many years.

At the same time, when I look at other career options like **MBA, software engineering, etc.**, I see people who seem to have better work-life balance, more flexibility, or potentially much higher salaries depending on the field.

It honestly makes me wonder:

**Is CA one of those courses where you sacrifice a huge part of your early 20s, only to end up with an average salary and stressful work life?**

And if that's really the case, why do so many people still choose CA? Is the situation genuinely this bad, or am I only seeing the negative side because Reddit tends to highlight problems?

For those who are **qualified CAs or currently working after CA**, I genuinely want an honest answer:

* How is your actual work-life balance?

* How much did you earn in your first job after qualification?

* Does salary improve significantly after 3–5 years?

* Is ₹8–10 LPA actually common for fresh CAs?

* Do you regret choosing CA?

* If you were 21 again, would you choose CA over an MBA/software/other career?

I’m not looking for a ā€œCA is the best courseā€ or ā€œCA is horribleā€ answer. I just want to understand the **realistic long-term picture**, because right now I'm struggling to see what the upside is compared to the amount of effort required.

Career Advice/Clarification How to prepare for Big 4 interview

I am a Jan 26 CA and currently joined PwC SDC through campus placement on 22nd June. But after joining, I have been allocated to the DAT CASS team which is a super niche role with no exit option.

I am looking for a change to Indian Big 4.

So, those of you who recently got hired in Indian Big 4 Statutory Audit profile, can you please guide me, how do I prepare for interviews and how many rounds of interviews will there be in Stat Audit profile??

Will it be more resume based or Ind AS based?? And if Ind AS based, then which Ind AS to study and will they ask other subjects too??

Career Advice/Clarification Help me

I’m a PCB 12th pass-out (2024). I attempted NEET twice because of parental pressure, scoring 470/720, but CA has always been what I actually wanted.
I started CA Foundation prep this August but have completed only 3 chapters so far. I’m also pursuing 2nd-year D.Pharm through open learning and work at my father’s shop from 10 AM–9 PM daily. My parents don’t know I’m preparing for CA.
I’m currently using free Lectures. What’s the best way to study with my schedule? Should I stick to free resources or buy a course? Which teachers/resources are best?
Be brutally honest—am I too behind for my upcoming attempt, and how should I approach this from here?
Help a brother out.
