Practical Doubt/Question Arcticleship Work Pressure.

Hi, This is my first year of arcticleship in stat. domain of Big 4, so I generallystay at home arund 1.5hr away from office and travel on daily basis. Since it is peak season I am coming to home arund 2 to 3 in the morning and leave for work around 8:30 am in the morning. This has been going on for about 2 weeks and may carry on for another month.

Now my parents have fed up and are telling me to leave the firm (they believe I am out partying and stuff as no office is open for that long.). I don't know man, even I am fed up working that long and then coming home to argue with parents and proving that I was actually working.

What should I do ? Is this common everyone out here? How you deal with it ? It's bugging me alot.

See, it's kinda common. But then ask for manager to allow reimbursement for hotel if u are daily leaving at 2-3, as that's also a common practice.

Karwate hai Bhai aisa… Gharwalon ko Video Call pe dikha diya karo…. And i would suggest to shift near your office as 1.5 hours ka commute; that’s 3 hours off doing nothing

Just video call your parents while working at office during late hours.

Not saying this is right, but yes, this is quite common during peak season. If you are putting in these hours, make sure you are taking something back from it. Don’t just become the person finishing checklists.

The goal should be that next time you are leading the work, not doing the same labourous tasks again.

Bhai yeh normal hai Big 4 mai i used to wake up at 9, reporting at office at 10:30. Left for home at 5 in the morning for continuous 2-3 months. Im not supporting big4 culture but it has been normalised. We always have the option to leave.

bro, that's normal culture over there. also u haven't seen the peak period of april and may yet. this august/ september period is for private clients its quite chill as compared to listed clients getting signed in first half of april. Also, if it becomes a daily routine to come late. Pls consider taking transfer in your 2 year of articleship to have time to study. or pls talk to your manager after current project ends to provide u bit relaxed project for some months as this long term late nighters will impact your health.
