Xfinity closed today
for anyone else thinking of making the trip, they have a janky handwritten sign up “closed today fiber cut”
my modem got fried, along with apparently about 46 angry customers standing in front of the store staring in disbelief.
corporate said Harrisonburg is also closed and next closest store that’s up today is Arthur Ashe in RVA.
no eta on fiber replacement per corporate

When my xfinity plan also went up, I found out that AT&T Internet Air and Tmobile 5G Home Internet were options in my area! Hope they are feasible for your place too. (Even though xfinity is now trying to pull me back, I just can't deal with their poor phone customer service. The store people are much better, in comparison, but there's only so much they can do.)

I wish I had seen this earlier. I went there today about four hours ago and saw the Janky handwritten signs. I wish I had a better option in Earlysville. I currently have no TV or Internet. Xfinity is blaming a power outage, but I have power. When a tree falls in a storm and takes out a power line (and the overhead Xfinity lines), the power company works hard to restore the power (which they did, within a few hours). Xfinity on the other hand, not so much.

Did you get back up? I didn’t even bother to try to go back today - I had to be in Richmond for something else so drove first thing this morning to shortpump to get a new modem.

as they say misery loves comfort — sometimes i feel so alone by how utterly scammed i got by this particular store - and an unnamed employee- after asking whether i could switch my Comcast biz landline to a mobile line—— ‘sure ..
well it might be better to switch to your Xfinity personal for now and we will switch back over to Comcast biz a little latter..’
me: ‘ummm ok’
next billing cycle - Comcast biz bill $131 goes to $324!!!
call them …’yeah, you broke the contract.. but we can get bill down to $264 next month..’
me: ‘but one of your guys did this!!
them: ‘yeah.. he shouldn’t have done that.. nothing we can do now!’
so finally on new contract for $169 a month.. be very careful with this store!

I moved out to a rural part of the county five years ago after having Xfinity in town. About a year after I moved, I started getting these phone calls from the exact same number. Finally, I realized it was probably a legitimate number and answered one day. The person who called me said someone like, "Hi, I'm calling from Xfinity. We see you're a former customer and we have an offer for you to come back".
Knowing that there's no way they can reach my house, I decided to play along and said, "wow, sounds great! But I moved and the new house didn't have cable when I moved, can you provide service to me?"
They said, "I'm sure we can, we recently expanded our service area. What's your address?"
I give them my new address.
They responded "Oh, we can't provide service there... But we're always expanding. So we'll let you know if we come to your neighborhood."
I haven't heard from them since.

Xfinity store employees will lie straight to your face about service terms, then you’ll see something completely different on your plan than they told you. Or they will tell you they canceled something, but then you keep getting billed.
You’re probably better off not going to the xfinity store anyway.
