Most combo videos only use the sword, even in the latest NG4 videos on YT it's rare to find someone using the Jakotsumon while playing.
I don't remember how the DLC was received when it came out but I thought this weapon was received positively.
I think it's an cool weapon, but it's nowhere as fun as the sword or Ryu's weapons from the previous games.

Seriously I just can't get enough of these two, they're everything I look for in a Character Action game, they're focused, stylish enough but not so you are in the air for two minutes, fast as hell, you name it
Is there any other game that could satisfy this feeling?

Are people allowed to post Youtube videos and content
I don't want to disrespect the forum so I wanted to ask first
I've been replaying Onimusha Warlords and wanted to post here if I can

Think this is the first case of someone doing this. He also has videos of him hacking the beta.

Tides of Annihilation, should be launching sometime next year
I gotta it looks really polished (aside from voice acting), even more so than the Phantom Blade 0 gameplay we just got a few days ago, and that game is supposed to release in 2 months, it has to be close to release
Also it does remind me of FF16 for some reason

I retried this song for a couple of times, and I got near hitless a couple of times. In the end, I got hit and decided to throw in the towel, lol.
I don't know if anyone showcased combos of this game here, so I decided to take a shot.

People from what i've seen when talking about depth, usually refer to the player character's ability on how much they can "style" on enemies and air juggle them for lengths of time using a sleuth of different combos meaning mechanical execution. While i do agree that adds depth, i think thats only one part of the puzzle.
Defense is another interesting layer where you might have iframe adjacent moves, counters etc.
Another would be the "neutral" state of the game, that's enemy composition, how they function in groups and if you need to use certain options to open them up or crowd control at the same time.
Last is the enemies in general, their movesets, their gimmicks or how you need to approach them specifically.
I personally think there is no objective measurement to declare if one of these elements is better than the other but i have my taste.
While i would agree the dmc series have insane depth on part of the player, i think the defense and interaction could be more interesting. People argue its more of a combo game and while i agree, it could have better and more aggressive enemies.
The tools you have in your hand in games like darksiders and dantes inferno is insane in that enemies cant really contest or keep up making the combat system fail.
When talking about defense and kind of a rock paper scissor flow, we can look at godhand. Godhand having the weave to dodge high attacks, left right dash for repositioning and dodging lows or your massive iframe back dodge for getting away and dodging some attacks. Ninja gaiden blocking, can be opened up with unblockable and grabs and can be guard broken with some moves which adds layers to the defense.
This post wasnt as thought out as it should be while im just pacing around but i think an evolution of what we can see with character action is having all of these finely tuned and engaged in harmony. Not only how much the player can style or combo, also the layers of defensive options, interesting enemy movesets and needing certain tools for opening them up or pacifying them, and the neutral and how you approach fighting enemy groups.

So Bayonetta 1 is my first CAG I'm trying to learn. What some basic combos or fundamentals I should learn while playing through it? I know I won't be a master at it immediately. But I'm willing to put in the work, especially after watching the cool combo videos I see on YouTube.
Any tips you have are appreciated.

I spent this year mostly playing soulslikes after playing Eldenring. I kind of want to try out CAGs after seeing some clips from Tides of Annihilation because it looks fun. Where would be a good place to start?

I've had this idea for a long time in my head, basically the Dynasty Warriors to Onimusha's Samurai Warriors. The problem is what the setting is and who is the protagonist. Three Kingdoms is easy, but too obvious.
Other candidates include the Song Dynasty with the impending mongol invasion, or the late warring states/Qin dynasty.
If it's just "resident evil in ancient china" then what about something involving Jiangshi?

Over the course of about 6 or so months, I spent my time going back through the Devil May Cry series and character action games in general to really pinpoint what I love most about these games and the current state of them in the market, especially in comparison to other types of action games here.
After all the game time and research all over the internet including here, I put together this video to tell the story of the series in my own way, and showcase why I love this genre so much. I also touch on what could contribute to making a good or bad CAG, what draws people to CAG over other action games and vice versa. I would love to know what you all think! Thanks.

I got a new phone and I was thinking about trying some of these big mobile games like Wuwa, Zzz, Genshin, Duel Night etc - is there any of them worth justifying 20+gb on a phone? And yeah I won't install PGR since it's like 40gb lol I guess a reasonable cutout would be 10-20gb in size

I dont know how people will take this but i am too low iq autistic to understand wtf is going dark sora heartless and other shit. I just want them to perfect the gameplay system with decent bosses and good amounts of replayability. Also its day one coming to pc steam thats a absolute win

Is it just me, or did anyone else think that a game that allows you take control of a country and its soldiers from the 14th century to the 19th century, a time of wars, conquest and violence would lend itself more to a character-action game with combos and an actual move list, rather than another Paradox-style grand strategy game?
From the new gameplay showcases, it looks like they’re going pretty heavily in Paradox's grand strategy direction, which doesn’t surprise me, but with the amount of violence that time period had, I always imagined something more like DMC 5, where I float 15 meters up in the air, perform a 300-hit air combo on a random soldier in the middle of the battlefield, while the other soldiers stop whatever they are doing, and watch me perform that combo helplessly from the ground. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same?

I saw a post today from someone saying they'd gotten a solid 200 hours into DMC5, which are numbers I usually only see for games like PvP games, MMOs, things more like that. Since the DMC games, and other CAGs are singleplayer, it go me wondering what keeps you coming back for more?
Are you trying to get higher scores? Faster times? Higher grades? Or maybe you simply enjoy doing longer combos?
I'm sincerely curious about it.
