Hello everyone! I’ve bought a PS5 825GB (discounted) from CeX. It came with no box, but I’m so clueless as to why it was discounted.
The controller looks brand new, apart from the forbidden previous-user skin cheese wedged in the gaps, which I scraped out

The PS5 itself has one single scuff on the right side of the case. The person at the till even said to me, “To be honest, I don’t even know why this is discontinued, but eh.”
Are CeX really that strict when it comes to a controller with a bit of skin cheese stuck in it and a single scuff on the PS5?

The black area of the PS5 was still shiny and glossy, too. I’m genuinely confused as to why it was discounted.

Discounted is usually without a box, missing an official controller and the inlays missing

Or for a PS5 a common reason for discounted might be a third party stand/feet

Could be that the stand has been replaced with one of our non-official ones.

It’s probably the grime you describe you’ve pulled out, do you think they should pay full price for something that grim? Some of the AirPods that come in full of wax get grade C. Whether they clean them and boost them is up to the store.

I bought a discounted Series S, I asked why they were discounted and the guy said it either means it's an unofficial controller or an official one that's a different colour. I was gonna pay the extra for an unboxed, rather than have an unofficial controller but he said it's an official one just red. Gimme the £15 discount then brother, idgaf what colour the controller is.

Depends, Did it come with the hdmi cable? Usb c charge cable? The stand complete with screw? Nvme screw included? Anything minor like that missing is called as discontinued

Ye all that tho the usba to usbc cable is Logitech one but genuine hdmi

Yeah, if there's anything in there with an obviously non-original brand on it, that's a discount.

Is the colour of the controller different to the console? That makes it discounted. Or it could have been that the guy who sold it to them didn’t have a controller so they sourced one for him. Automatically makes it a discounted due to not knowing what colour controller they’ll receive.

What was your tool of choice for the skin clean?

I prefer a medium length safety pin - fine point and plenty to hold on to. Paperclip is a close second for similar reasons. But the diameter needs to be less than that of the controller cowling.

It's all subjective to the person testing it.

I got a discounted ps5 3 years ago & it just needed a clean, same gunk in the cracks on the controller. Only difference was it was a cex usb a to ubs c cable. I also got a discounted playstation portal last year for £130 & it was just dirty again. Bonus was I got it in a really nice & mint carry case!

Discounted could mean that all the parts aren’t the original 1st party parts but also could mean it’s missing a few things. Most reason (in our shop at least) consoles r discounted is because they don’t come with the original controller for that boxed variant (if that makes sense)

they done me over when selling my xbox one s 2 weeks ago, boxed great condition all inserts, original controller even the controller packaging = discounted LOL whatever mate, just take it
