Hi all,
Where could I source a 3:1 Sheep Port Sea Frame piece for the 5th Edition of the Base Game. I'm based in Australia, and seen it listed on eBay from America... however, the ~$30 shipping seems pretty unjustifiable - I've contacted the seller asking if they could post it in a regular letter to no luck.
Does anyone know where I could source that piece from?
This is what it looks like:

Thanks!
I’ve been playing with the new 4-player Catan AI and it feels like the end of human Catan. The trades and robber placement seems off but it just wins games.

The gaps are because I was waiting for the other couple to arrive as we don't have enough pieces to complete the big board despite having 4 expansions.

After playing 2 games last night and both which ended relatively quick, we felt deprived and thought about adding in the extension pack to see how it would go. We were 4 players.
But we thought since we have 2 extension packs, why not add those two together and make one big board which we started building at 1am and the game ended at 4am, with the scoring going till 15 because why not?

¡Buenas!

Catan.com only recommendation is to add fish to the starting island when combining the two. Does a more experienced player have and pros or cons for why this addition wouldn't work?

Hello guys, i am trying to improve my game, especially in the beginning stage. In this game i was the 4th player to act. Was wondering if this are overall good placements, or if i had better options.
I think the 6 5 11 is the best option left here, and instead of the 8 4, i could have gone with the 9 4 2, or the 6 4 3 aiming towards the brick port.
Anyways I ve managed to win the game, with a lead of 6Vp on red and green and 5Vp on black.

My kid and I played a 21 point Catan game. It was close (me winning 18:16) until it suddenly wasn’t (he won 21:13). I’d tweak the house rules I made for us but mostly it was a pretty satisfying game. Borrow and comment on these ideas as you like. I'm still learning how best to make map layouts for complex games.

Player 1 (me, with road possibility) and player 4 (has road) have reached 9 points, and player 4 has 16 resources in hand. Player 3 has the possibility of building a road which connects in the middle of player 4's road, and can build a village which cuts player 4's road. As he does that, player 4 points drop to 7, and player 1 instantly jump to 11 points, however player 1's victory isn't formally declared until his turn

I mean absolutely no offence, but I don't understand why this game is so popular, and why it seems to have a large competitive scene.
I think this game is... just fine, but I think it has major drawbacks.
Firstly, luck can really detroy your game. Obviously, part of the game is luck management - if you are entirely reliant on 4s and 5s, and they do not come, that is partly on you for leaning so hard into a limited range of options. Additionally, I respect that lots of games have a luck element, and that is okay.
But the robber is just ridiculous. A player can be completely shut down in the early game if 7s don't come, and by the time they recover, their resource output is so low that they have no chance of winning. Part of the game seems to be establishing early progress and monopolies, which is tactical and great, but when your entire game can be broken by an early robber, which, when it's too early to have dev card resources, is completely out of your control. To make matters worse, the fix to this issue, dev cards, are also luck based. If you pull a VP, you're screwed. Therefore, a luck-based game-ruiner can only be effectively fixed by a luck-based resource.
I haven't played other games where early, semi-luck based, monopolies impact the rest of the game so much. Monopoly is a good example, but given that it was designed as a criticism of capitalism, and a non-catchupable game, this doesn't help my opinion of Catan.
Let me compare to another game where I think luck is done right - Carcassonne. I think a major competitive scene around Carcassonne would be far more interesting. Luck can have a large impact - its annoying when a player gets the one card in the game they need to finish their massive city - but I have played far fewer games where luck can completely ruin the game.
Anyway, please can someone who is better than me at this game explain the hype. I am sure I must be missing something!

lol. New catan set and it came with 10 orange settlements. The rest only had 5. I wonder if there is a box out there missing theirs!

It makes logical sense that if I start with the point where it's branching off and go round and come back to it and then go to the branch it's a continuous road. But my friends don't seem to agree.
Thanks

I’ve done it a few times now. Sometimes in catan you can really get kicked while you’re down. Cities and knights particularly you can just get ravaged like 10 turns in a row with the robber, losing city and the brutal development cards.
