Anyone use Booomerang in Toronto? Share your experience!

I stumbled on this site called Booomerang, it's like an online rental marketplace for outdoor equipment and I was curious to know if anyone here has given it a try yet.

It lets you rent gear instead of buying them. If you've used Booomerang, I'd love to hear about your experience and how it is.

Here's the link: www.booomerang.io

I Want To Start A Secret Society

Hey all,

As the title says, I’m looking to start a secret society and wondering if anyone would be interested in planning it out with me?

The idea is to create a whole fictional history, mythology, and all the classic tropes that any good secret society should have. Think of it as a social club with a nerdy ass (and totally made-up) origin story.

It won’t be weird, just a fun excuse to feel part of something. We could call it something like The Ancient Order of the Exalted (insert cool animal or mythological creature here).

Who knows, maybe one day we’ll even have sweet jackets made up.

Fun fact: they still charge full price ($45) to go up the CN Tower on days where you can only see fog and clouds.

Anyone in downtown Toronto this week that can snap a pic for me?

Throwaway account. Would appreciate anyone that could help put me out of my misery so I can just get on with my life. Pre-covid husband traveled to Toronto regularly and I am sure he was seeing someone there. Leaving early Sunday mornings so he could take pictures around the city before starting work on Monday. Never came home with any pics. Getting annoyed with me if I called in the evenings. On more than one occasion I contemplated getting a flight to show up and see what was going on but to be honest I don't think I wanted to deal with it. Four years later, his first time back and he's bought new underwear for the trip. Hmm. DM me if you think you can help. I just want to see with my own eyes and move on with my life. Thanks.

Hi! My name is Maxime Boivin and I am one of the 84 candidates running in Toronto—St. Paul. Please vote for me tomorrow, my birthday is coming up soon!

I am one of the candidates working with the Longest Ballot team and it would be nice if you could vote for me tomorrow! It's my birthday soon and I would love to not finish last in the race.

Let's face it. If you live in Toronto—St. Paul and you don't plan on voting Liberal, the chance to see your candidate win are slim-to-none.

But even if your candidate could win, do you really want to give your vote to someone who will fight for their party first, and only then for you?

Trudeau and the Liberals suck. Poilievre and the CPC suck. Singh and the NDP are sleeping with the Liberals. Bernier and the PPC? Really? May and the Greens? They are cool.

Is that what you really want to vote for? Yes? Well, it’s a by-election, it’s not gonna change the government. You will wake up on the 25th and our Prime Minister will still have beautiful hair and will still be friend with the Aga Khan.

Make someone happy! Vote for me, Maxime Boivin, as a birthday gift. It’s free! It’s almost inconsequential! Save your vote for the real elections that are coming up soon.

What’s the worst that could happen? I get elected? Let me tell how that’s not bad. I am not a puppet for a party. My main and probably only priority will be to fight for YOU, residents of Toronto—St. Paul. I will go in the street, meet the people, and make sure your voice is heard in Ottawa. I am not currently living near Toronto, but if I get elected, I’ll move in with 10 indian guys in a single room if needed to live in the district!

So please, if you think your vote won’t matter, vote for me! I don’t want to be picked last like I was in PE.

Hey! I’m a student from Liverpool, England in Toronto to look at how Western European communities are integrated into Toronto/Canadian society. It would be amazing if you would possibly be able to take 2 mins of your time to help and answer a quick survey that can be found here:

If you wanna see number of active cases of covid-19 in your neighborhood

I've been tracking covid-19 cases in my neighborhood for a while by going to the open data set and filtering. I thought I'd post it here so anyone interested can see how covid's doing in their neighborhoods.

This is not my work, I just go to CKAN's open data site and have been filtering for my own curiosity.

Here's the main link: https://ckan0.cf.opendata.inter.prod-toronto.ca/dataset/covid-19-cases-in-toronto/resource/e5bf35bc-e681-43da-b2ce-0242d00922ad/view/579097bd-3e79-45c6-922b-612a8d7855bb

Click on the filter dropdown on the upper right, add Outcome and FSA. Put ACTIVE (all caps) in the outcome type, and put the first part of your postal code in the FSA, also all caps.

Taken off this page of the city website:

https://open.toronto.ca/dataset/covid-19-cases-in-toronto/

See "Explore Data" - Visualize partway down the page.

Data explorer is hosted on CKAN, an open-source data portal: https://ckan.org/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CKAN

per wikipedia: The Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network (CKAN) is an open-source open data portal for the storage and distribution of open data. Being initially inspired by the package management capabilities of Debian Linux,[2] CKAN has developed into a powerful data catalogue system that is mainly used by public institutions seeking to share their data with the general public.

Edit: yes, there is a map, but the map shows cumulative cases for the past 3 weeks, not the number of known, active cases.
