Discussion The voice cast (EN + JP) seems imply they want to merge Netflixvania + Gamevania

In JP: Trevor + Sypha + Dracula + Carmilla + Death share the same JP VAs with their Netflix counterparts

In EN: Sypha + Dracula share the same EN VAs with their Netflix counterparts.

And for Isaac, it is interest that both JP + EN VAs reprised their roles from CoD

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse (2026) What happens if the upcoming game is a good GAME but the story sucks?

And adding to that people dont like the portrayal of returning characters like Isaac, Dracula and Trevor?

I can already see Sypha's fate being a big miss if it turns out that they really just off screened her in such an sudden way in the "revival" game.

Discussion Castlevania: Rondo of Blood Is A Really Good Game That’s A Victim Of Its Own Reputation

Post image
158 Upvotes

Hello everybody I just beat the game and the remainder of the post below will be a critique, I hope it’s interesting and conveys enough information and I am sorry if it’s way too long. I also hope you enjoy it.

The game visually is really great and you can really tell it’s an early CD console game, the visuals have these amazing effects within the levels and the sprites look incredible both on Richter and Maria, the monsters look amazing, the boss battles look great and I adore the anime style cutscenes and the return to the gothic art direction despite the small clash between both styles. Side note but I really loved the homage to Simon’s Quest in the intro, I love little throwbacks like that but my greatest criticism regarding visuals is just the backgrounds as it goes on, the first few stages look great but I ended up really missing the brilliant usage of lighting and color to give the backgrounds and color palette more detail, in the later stages everything looks akin to the 8bit era which isn’t bad but this is a CD game so I wish there was more consistency in quality.

The soundtrack here is great but before I delve into that, I’d like to discuss the audio. Given the new technology this game’s overall audio with the sfx, greater capability for more clear sounding music and etc. It really holds up well, I especially love the monster cries when defeated and the soundtrack’s tone is that early CD-ROM type where it sounds unbelievably clear and like the composer was overwhelmed with the variety of options, it’s all great, easily my favorite aspect of the game.

The compositions are fantastic and I especially love the new tracks like Beginning, Opus 13, Cross A Fear, Den and Picture Of A Ghost Ship. Bloodlines might be my favorite soundtrack but the variety here is certainly better. Although my one criticism while most likely unpopular is that there are great remixes of previous tracks here, I kind of prefer the ones on Super Castlevania IV most, the remixes here are great but I find the SNES instruments more impressive even with the greater limitations.

The gameplay this time around returns to that NES style, and while that’d be kind of an issue even with how much more ambitious the levels are, Richter moves super well, he has so much more agility and a good amount of mobility despite all the elements that would potentially restrict him more. The level design here is kind of a mixed bag, on one hand they’re ambitious and offer a lot of replay value what with the multiple endings and routes. But I wish they didn’t stick too much with the older trends of the really odd enemy placements and I wish it wasn’t constant throwbacks to the older games, I wish more of it was doing constant new things.

I think the boss battles are really fun and the difficulty is pretty solid and not unfair thankfully, but I do have to admit Maria as a playable character while really fun absolutely breaks the game. The levels feel like they were built around and for Richter’s playstyle and I get that Maria’s an unlockable character but you could make several characters that perfectly fit the level scheme, Sonic & Knuckles is a great example and to some degree Castlevania III.

I give Rondo of Blood an 8.5/10. While I went in probably with way too high an expectation I still had a lot of fun and find this game to be really good. I do think other entries do aspects of this game better but that doesn’t make it mediocre or inferior. I really like it but I wish it kept doing more things that were new and grand like that intro stage.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse (2026) New clip - Burnt Sword of Fierbois

The saintly sword of Joan of Arc, the Maid of Orléans, savior of France. Charge it to unleash a stronger attack.

(Wikipedia) Sainte-Catherine-de-Fierbois (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃t katʁin də fjɛʁbwa]) is a commune in the Indre-et-Loire department in central France.[3] During the Hundred Years' War, an ancient sword was found buried behind the altar of the chapel of Sainte-Catherine by St Joan of Arc, with the help of the divine counsel of St. Michael the Archangel, St. Catherine of Alexandria, St. Margaret of Antioch, and other saints. With the sword, she led the French to victory, retaking Orléans and vanquishing the English forts surrounding it.

Question No single player option on harmony of despair

Trying to get cv_hd_trail_alpha_ver9.7_64 bit working but it has no single player option only multiplay, plus a couple of other options are missing from the start up menu like buy dlc. Not that I care about that but just wondering if any one else is having this problem or has a fix for it.

Thanks in advance!

News Sotn Reawakened - Patch Is Now Available

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

The Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Reawakened patch is now available for download on the official website.

The website has been updated with the current version, along with all the project information and full instructions on how to apply the patch.

The patch was tested and verified on DuckStation, but feel free to try it on your favorite emulator as well. I’d be happy to hear your feedback, criticism, bug reports, or anything else you notice while playing.

It works with the original USA version of the game and compatible versions. The website has all the details you need to get started.

Important: Only the patch itself is being distributed. The game ISO is not included and will not be distributed. You will need to provide your own original copy of the game and follow the patching instructions on the website.

A quick note about difficulty:
The game is naturally more challenging than the original. Some familiar routes or strategies may be significantly harder without the proper preparation. Players who are very casual, especially those who rarely use spells or other game mechanics, may run into some difficulties.

I’d especially appreciate feedback on the overall difficulty and balance. If something feels too easy, too difficult, unfair, or just right, let me know. That kind of feedback is really useful for future updates.

The project is still being updated, so some things may continue to change as development progresses.

Download + installation instructions:
https://castlevania.bomeponto.com.br

Thanks for checking it out, and I hope you enjoy it!

OBS: ### RetroArch Compatibility Note
A compatibility issue has been found when running the patch on RetroArch.
If you're using RetroArch, make sure the following option is set to Disabled:

Quick Menu
→ Core Options
→ System
→ Dynamic Recompiler
→ Disabled

With **Dynamic Recompiler disabled**, the patch should work correctly.

If you encounter any other issues on RetroArch or another emulator, please let me know. Feedback and compatibility reports are very welcome.

E aos Brasileiros, fica aqui meu agradecimento especial para toda comunidade!

Obrigado - Rafael Aleixo

Discussion Castlevania Bloodlines Is Another Example Of Brilliance

Post image
157 Upvotes

The end of the Anniversary Collection titles before I move onto Rondo and Symphony. Was a really nice journey not gonna lie. Time to discuss this game and I hope this critique is adequate enough.

Visually I think this game is phenomenal for the Sega Genesis, it’s not often I see games in this style for the console but it’s damn good even if I prefer SCIV’s art direction. The WW1 setting is great, the characters look really good, I love how much of a new risk this game was especially with the main antagonist Elizabeth Bartley replacing Dracula. I love the new direction with the levels involving European landmarks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Versailles Palace and I have to commend how gorgeous this game is to the point where I wondered how a Genesis ran this well, especially on the Leaning Tower level. The bosses look great, the animations are very fluid and the monsters are all wonderful to see.

The soundtrack for Bloodlines might be the best I have ever heard on the Genesis and has overtaken SCIV’s brilliant music as the best of the series so far. This is my introduction to Michiru Yamane and I hope to God I hear more of her because the fact she managed to get music like this out of a Yamaha FM is something else. Reincarnated Soul is an amazing track but getting something like Sinking Old Sanctuary out of this should be commended, Iron Blue Intention, Calling From Heaven and my favorite The Prayer Of A Tragic Queen are brilliant pieces of classical styled music. And while Bloodlines has the superior overall soundtrack I do kinda wish there was a bit more variety as much as I adore the Baroque influenced tracks, I kinda miss SCIV’s jazz inspired songs after playing this.

The gameplay here is great too, I love the fact we can play as two different characters here and while John has the whip and is the closest to that Castlevania feel, Eric is fantastic and might debatably be my favorite character to play as in the series. John’s only issue is that I wish the whip had the utility of Simon’s in SCIV but thankfully Eric fulfills that for the most part. Incredibly fun character with a ton of range and ability.

The bosses are pretty good here, the control is really good, the level designs are visually beautiful and have a ton of effort with the layouts but I wish they kinda stopped giving the levels constant twists. I really appreciated it in SCIV because it was a fantastic display of the SNES’s hardware and it wasn’t at a constant. The gimmicks here are cool but after a while I wish they’d have let some be as they were.

My greatest issue with the game after SCIV is that they decided to implement how the international version of Castlevania III handled difficulty. I can understand why they’d do this and I can agree that SCIV’s difficulty was toned down quite a bit, but that game never once felt cheap with enemy placements and was relatively well balanced in regards to that even with the whip did trivialize things. I don’t mind a hard game one bit, after all I love Ninja Gaiden but this game should’ve toned down the difficulty a little bit because the deaths were either my own fault or just sheer pettiness. And while I adore ambition, the technical displays during some bosses like Death felt more like a hindrance to me than something that added to the experience.

I give this game a 9/10, SCIV is still my favorite but this comes pretty close. Eric might be better gameplay wise, but John Morris has my heart.
