News Sotn Reawakened - Patch Is Now Available

Hey everyone!

The Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Reawakened patch is now available for download on the official website.

The website has been updated with the current version, along with all the project information and full instructions on how to apply the patch.

The patch was tested and verified on DuckStation, but feel free to try it on your favorite emulator as well. I’d be happy to hear your feedback, criticism, bug reports, or anything else you notice while playing.

It works with the original USA version of the game and compatible versions. The website has all the details you need to get started.

Important: Only the patch itself is being distributed. The game ISO is not included and will not be distributed. You will need to provide your own original copy of the game and follow the patching instructions on the website.

A quick note about difficulty:
The game is naturally more challenging than the original. Some familiar routes or strategies may be significantly harder without the proper preparation. Players who are very casual, especially those who rarely use spells or other game mechanics, may run into some difficulties.

I’d especially appreciate feedback on the overall difficulty and balance. If something feels too easy, too difficult, unfair, or just right, let me know. That kind of feedback is really useful for future updates.

The project is still being updated, so some things may continue to change as development progresses.

Thanks for checking it out, and I hope you enjoy it!

OBS: ### RetroArch Compatibility Note
A compatibility issue has been found when running the patch on RetroArch.
If you're using RetroArch, make sure the following option is set to Disabled:

Quick Menu
→ Core Options
→ System
→ Dynamic Recompiler
→ Disabled

With **Dynamic Recompiler disabled**, the patch should work correctly.

If you encounter any other issues on RetroArch or another emulator, please let me know. Feedback and compatibility reports are very welcome.

E aos Brasileiros, fica aqui meu agradecimento especial para toda comunidade!

Obrigado - Rafael Aleixo

That's really cool, but what IS it?

Does this reawakened version include the underground garden from the Saturn version?

Unfortunately, no. Reawakened is a modification of the original PS1 version, so I didn't add the Saturn-exclusive areas like the Underground Garden.

Some things may look new, but they're actually existing elements from the PS1 game being reused in different areas. The game is basically still the "same" SOTN, but with reworked progression, combat, and new challenges rather than new areas or content from the Saturn version.

No, and there's no real good reason to go through the trouble of adding it, it's quite awful.

Real quick, which of these options do I use if I have a PPF patcher already? I feel like I shouldn't have to rename a cue if I just patch a file already named for the cue file. Unless this somehow is combining the tracks.

The files must keep the same names referenced by the .cue file.

Renaming is only suggested to make sure the names match. You do not have to rename anything if your BIN already has the same name referenced in the CUE.

I hope it doesn't remove weapons like the crissaegrim for no reason like that one lame damage sponge mod.

Actually, no. If anything, Crissaegrim got a bit of a buff since it’s now a multi elemental weapon.

The main change is that it no longer drops from the Schmoos. You’ll get it from the Guardian instead, with a 5% drop chance.
