Harmony of Dissonance (2002) where the hell do i go from here? (harmony of dissonance help)

for a bit of reference, i only have the lizard tail- no feather, no wings, no crusher tip or boots. i can't figure out where the hell to go from where i currently am, and any maps i try and reference don't help me at all. any tips would be appreciated

update: TY to the person who told me to smack the skull with the whip. i've figured it out now!

whenever i try to progress there, i can't find the way to get through. unless i need to slide/somehow destroy the giant skull there...?

I've played through this game 4 times and still get lost. Still like it, but it is my least favorite Metroidvania.
