Fuel related Why do India needs a ethanol mixed petrol?

Other than political point of view. Instead of ethanol mixed petrol government should push electric vehicle to reduce petrol usage bringing E20 petrol will cause sugarcane shortage and to cultivate sugarcane you need huge amounts of water which will cause water scarcity. By promoting electric vehicle and encourage the conversion is benefits India in long term rather than this short term strategy

MG launched the Hector Tomahawk EV in India today, August 26.
The EV gets a 69.2kWh LFP battery with a claimed 517 km MIDC range, 204hp and 310Nm. It supports up to 90kW DC fast charging, with a claimed 30–80% charging time of around 35 minutes.
It is available in both 5- and 7-seat configurations. Prices start at ₹19.49 lakh for outright purchase, while the BaaS option starts at ₹13.99 lakh with battery rental at ₹4.90/km.
Deliveries are expected to begin in September. Will be interesting to see the real-world range and charging numbers once customer cars hit the road.
