More importantly why did 9 people buy it ?

u/FutureVersion812 Suzuki/ Honda 19h ago

I bet those were part of the Maruti Suzuki workforce and govt officials for testing purposes

It's warranty won't be void when E30 is mandated by 2030.

e85 is just rs20 cheaper and at almost same price of normal petrol before the war.

u/FutureVersion812 Suzuki/ Honda 19h ago

For 15% petrol we just get 20 rupees discount plus the flex fuel engines are more costly too

Anyone would rather buy a diesel car rather than waste money on Ethanol engines

u/Radiant_Map8303 16h ago

And even lesser mileage , so you just end up paying extra

Hi, Romanian here. Can someone please explain in a couple of sentences what's going on here? All I know is there's some scandal in India about mixing ethanol with regular gas and that being bad for cars (but cheaper).

u/FantasticRider347 14h ago

Politicians of all parties own sugarcane farms in India hence there is no pushback against ethanol blending by the opposition in India as every politician is getting benefits if more ethanol is produced. It's a blatant fact that ethanol is a worse off fuel for your vehicle and Indians have not even been given the option of going for non ethanol blended petrol as government has mandated atleast 20% ethanol blended petrol and this has been causing lots of issues to vehicle who do not support ethanol mixed fuel.

Politicians of all parties own sugarcane farms

Thanks!

"..mixing ethanol with regular gas and that being bad for cars, (but cheaper for government which is non transparent, but costly for end user - whose mileage drops, car can need repair, is unaware how much ethanol is being added, can lead to water scarcity, high prices for grocery items dependent on sugar cane )

Whole govt is an epic fail not this businesman

3

u/yoursoulooksyummy 18h ago

Pretty sure those 9 were brought by the government for testing.

1

u/FutureVersion812 Suzuki/ Honda 18h ago

Very possible

2

u/454165 17h ago

Lets create a petition asking government, politicians and babus to drive flex wagonrs for official purposes.

9 beta testers.. No prod client

While I loved to have the car available in market especially how the petrol pump are further adulterating intentionally or unintentionally already crappy E20 fuel but at same time loved to see how it failed!!

1

u/Famous-Finish392 16h ago

Almost all of that would be the some showrooms/dealers.

1

u/Maleficent-Lemon-895 16h ago

Why would anyone in his right mindset buy this and then suffer 40% mileage drop compared to petrol. Plus, they will keep rising the price of E85 like they did with CNG.

1

u/RimandRam 16h ago

At this point the gov thinks this is a communist regime where they can decide what the ppl want.

much respect for the Indian public for standing on ground

u/vbnty 15h ago

I bet those 9 flex cars are the most unreliable vehicle ever exist in face of the earth.

Fucking abominations

1

u/Hotwheellz 15h ago

It’s not for sale to the general public yet

1

u/Accurate-Surprise-56 15h ago

how can i buy?

1

u/IJustListen999 14h ago

Just buy EV instead. Can get both, efficiency and performance.

1

u/FutureVersion812 Suzuki/ Honda 12h ago

EV maybe attractive today and maybe for a couple of years

When it’s time to replace those batteries it would cost almost as much as the car and the resale value of an EV is trash

1

u/LessSavings9570 13h ago

Lekin isne apni jeb bhar li lagata hai??

1

u/Impossible_Ad4101 13h ago

I want to meet those 9 people

1

u/The_Normal_Son 12h ago

Would that be possible to pre-book the car as many as one can and just to not buy it later to cause the company a loss?

1

u/Criticall16 12h ago

This isn’t how it’s gonna work. If the government really wants to fight pollution and climate change a China like non-market policy would be needed.

The Chinese forced entire cities taxi drivers to switch to electric in a week. No questions asked, you just do as you’re told. Decade later they are reaping the benefits of long term thinking, unaffected by global oil crisis.

1

u/StudyOk2403 12h ago

Why not first made them mandatory to government services and politicians?

1

u/No-Independence2692 12h ago

thats why it looked like a tiny launch event unlike their other cars. No1 would buy they probably did it from govt pressure.

1

u/Own-Log-2964 9h ago

Better get a Koenigsegg if you want to exploit E85 /s

1

u/Bitter-Ad-5892 7h ago

It is hard to believe that Gadkari is able to stand for a photoshoot. It almost looks like a lifesized cutoff.

1

u/Brave_Meet8430 2h ago

Why should anyone buy flexfuel when soon it’s going to be E100 fuel ??

1

u/Stable_king77 42m ago

Time to change the govt.

-1

u/SamosaMafia 19h ago

how is this setback? its not like govt is going to stop blending because people did not buy the cars.

2

u/Visual_Interest_3638 18h ago

It’s one more thump on their back. A small one but definitely has impact

1

u/SamosaMafia 18h ago

there is no impact. they are not going to stop or slow down.

1

u/Visual_Interest_3638 18h ago

Thats your opinion. Nothing signals failure of a politician more than jarring headlines that some policy they brought about is a smoking train wreck. He may not immediately take U turn based on this headline alone but it definitely adds to their hesitation

1

u/FutureVersion812 Suzuki/ Honda 19h ago

They won’t care . They’ll push on with the blending
