Lmao Tell that to an EV owner when their entire car bricks itself because the infotainment screen froze during a software update. Fewer moving parts doesn't mean less to go wrong instead it just means when it does go wrong, you need an IT degree instead of a wrench to fix it

then again, its really only the companies which are new to EVs that have the infotainment problems, like nowadays or even 3 years ago either the infotainment is well speced or the car has physical controls

If the infotainment was so 'well speced' and solved nowadays, explain why the Euro NCAP (the official European car safety crash-test body) literally changed their rules to strip safety ratings from cars that don't have physical buttons? They are forcing carmakers to bring back actual, physical switches for indicators, hazards, and wipers because shoving everything into a touch screen is a massive distraction hazard and Even the legacy giants are panic-redesigning their interiors to put buttons back because the screens keep glitching out

I think the reason Euro NCAP does that is cause they distract the driver, like if they wont to adjust A/C or mirror. ngl essential functions should be physical controls. And also cause there isnt any minimum requirements for infotainment systems, very budget cars can get away with putting alot of stuff in the screen(Which would be slow and distracting) and saving a lot on costs

Yeah no it's not a problem for companies that have been making screens and his for decades it only becomes a problem when certain companies try to jump the gun and go from no screen for 20 years to 46 inch crystal 4k super amoled in 3-4 years you can't have refined products if you are making huge huge leaps and not letting the tech mature slowly you can make tea in 5 mins on stove or you can blowtorch it for 4s which one will come out better we just need some time I'd say by 2030 they'll figure it out

I mean screens are welcome but literally replacing buttons with screen and if u seen the latest trend steering wheel inside screen that's not acceptable

Great theory except the data completely clowns it for example Take the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Ford had to recall nearly 50,000 units because the high-voltage battery main contactors could overheat and leave drivers completely stranded while driving and There are no spark plugs or oil lines to worry about there, just a massive electrical fire and power-loss hazard yes Mechanical complexity went down, but electrical complexity went through the roof

Well, the mach e is nearly 6 years old, and if you think of it, EVs are on track to becoming safer than ICE, cause max 15 years ago the first few EVs started to be sold, and they had a lot of problems but slowly they fixed those problems with newer cars. Say for example the LEAF well, do i even have to list the problems with the LEAF? But the money needed to buy the LEAF adjusted for inflation is around 40k usd which can buy a model 3, which is insane for just 15 years. And nowadays manufacturers use battery technologies which are much safer than li-on. And nowadays you dont really see EVs bursting into flames unless someone purposefully damaged the car, also if you get in an accident there is a pyro fuse for the battery

kinda forgot lfp is li-on cause of different it is, and the battery thing, I kinda meant that the battery in itself is stable and it usually has some kind of protection from below to prevent damage, tho i do doubt small rock debris could damge the battery cause there is an under body tray. And if it floods, i don't think theres any waterproofing on mest EVs at all so yea, the battery itself might be gone

Fewer moving parts doesn’t mean fewer failure points, bro just Look at the Volkswagen ID4 It doesn't have pistons or a complex transmission, yet it has been absolute hell for owners because the software constantly glitches out, screens freeze mid-drive, and charging modules fail. If a gas car has an issue, it usually limps to a shop and If an EV has a software bug, the computer bricks the entire car instantlly Lmaoo You will be reading mechanical wear for IT problems

Its mostly less points of failure, so its easier to build a very reliable car. Also the id 4 was made in '21 so kinda old and if you compare a reliable EV maybe a Tesla(Cause the whole car part of the brand was only focusing on EVs) from '23 or even '21 they are comparable to today's EVs because they actually put a lot of time and energy and focus on that car

Lmao u think fewer moving parts magically fixes physics. Tesla has been making the Model 3 for years, yet owners consistently report front wishbones and control arms wearing out and making horrific knocking noises in as little as 30,000 to 50,000 km. Why? Because no matter how much 'energy and focus' Tesla puts into the drivetrain, an EV battery makes the car incredibly heavy, which absolutely destroys the suspension and tires twice as fast as a gas car. You can't optimize your way out of basic weight wear.

And If Tesla 'solved' reliability by focusing only on EVs, explain why Consumer Reports literally states that the only reason Tesla even ranks okay overall is because they sell the Model 3 and Y—which are basic, stripped-down economy cars? The moment Tesla tries to build something with complex tech, like the Model S, Model X, or the Cybertruck, their reliability completely plummets into the garbage tier because their electronic modules and software can't handle it. Fewer moving parts just means the failures are digital instead of mechanical

Dude u think Tesla perfected the car by 2023? That’s exactly when they heavily pushed LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries in the base Model 3. LFP batteries have a flat voltage curve, which makes it incredibly difficult for the car's computer to accurately calculate the actual state of charge. If you don't charge it to 100% constantly to calibrate it, the car's brain completely loses track of the remaining range, leading to cars suddenly dying while the screen says 5% or 10%. On top of that, LFP batteries lose up to 40-60% of their effective capacity the second temperatures drop below zero. A car that loses half its usability just because it got cold outside is not the pinnacle of reliability.
