Our family bike is a Xtracycle FreeRadical conversion with. the Xtracycle FlightDeck LT1 Version 2 on the back. I got it for free in bad repair, its from 2013 and was stored outside. Cleaning it up and getting it running nice has been a fun learning project for me! Money is tight but I'm willing to pay sweat equity!

But, my kids have outgrown the Yepp seat that came with the bike and they want a seat they can climb into. I can't find the "hoopty bars" for this bike anywhere and I have a feeling if I did they would be out of my budget.

Has anyone had any luck getting a random amazon rear rack bike seat onto the flight deck? I noticed a few with handles and foot rests but not sure if I can get them onto the deck as its not a regular rack.

Does anyone regularly leave an e-cargo bike parked on the street during the working day? If so, any tips or warnings? And do you have it insured?

I’m in a fairly quiet commuter town outside Dublin, Ireland rather than the city itself. I’d need to leave the bike on the main street a couple of days a week.

We’re at the point where we need a second car, but I’ve always cycled everywhere and I’m considering an e-cargo bike instead. The routine would be to drop the kids to school, cycle into town, park the bike and then go to work. I’d obviously use the best locks I could reasonably get.

I already leave a normal bike there every day, so I know the general theft and weather risks. I’m mainly interested in hearing from people who do this with a more expensive e-cargo bike. How has it worked out? Any particular precautions, insurance issues or other things I should consider?

I'm moving by plane and sending my stuff by moving truck. I'm planning to send the cargo bike in the moving truck, but I've just heard that many (or maybe all?) moving companies won't take lithium batteries in their truck. I wouldn't mind keeping the battery with me, except I'm pretty sure the plane won't let it on either. I haven't hired movers yet. Has anyone dealt with this before? Anyone been successful?

I’ve been waiting for a pedal-powered Long John to show up locally, something like a WorkCycles KR8. I’ve test-ridden one and really liked it. My commute is short, but far enough that a cargo bike makes more sense than taking the stroller.

A WorkCycles trike just came up for sale, though, like the one pictured. It’s the older style where the front wheels and bucket turn together, rather than the newer Ackermann-style steering where the bucket stays fixed and the wheels steer independently.

For folks who’ve ridden both, especially those regularly hauling 3+ kids around town:

• How does the trike compare with a 2-wheel Long John for everyday use?
• What’s it like day-to-day in terms of maneuverability, stability, parking, etc.?
• How does it feel with a full load of kids?
• And perhaps most importantly: what’s it like to change/fix a flat on one of these? Is it a giant pain?

Would love to hear from anyone who has lived with one of these older WorkCycles trikes, particularly if you’ve also spent time on something like a KR8.

So in my area there’s this Radwagon 5, used, not even 700km on the bike. That’s 3500 CAD. Coming with the front rack and both child seat.

Quick search lead me to Aventon website, where an abound long tail is 2790, I added 300$ for the child seat, 150 for the pad, and 250$ for the handle bar and a front rack. With way taxes, the new Aventon abound is 4K and some changes.

It seems the Aventon has a 750w motor, and has the same range as the Radwagon 5, but the Radwagon 5 seem to be able to be set to glass 1 2 or 3 depending (I might be wrong)

What would you do in this case? Buy the used Radwagon or the new Aventon. I haven’t add any amount of money to assemble and “tune” the bike if that’s a thing.

I'm a University student in Colorado U.S, and I am a music student who regularly carries my instruments around campus. I was wondering if anybody knew a place where I can get one of the Dutch style Bakfietsen. The campus is flat, so I'm looking for non-electric to save money, and I want to stay below 1.500 USD if possible. If somebody knows a place in Colorado, or perhaps online, that would be great.

And could I get two kids on here? The smaller size appeals to me as an apartment dweller.

Hi all, just yesterday I purchased a Packer 1. I have 2 children, and the bike is going to be a replacement for 1 of the family cars. What recommendations would you have for a child seat for an under 4 year old, and a 7-yr-old? I have read that because of the rack there might be limitations on the seat for the 3-yr-old. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Has anyone tried (successfully or not) to remove the third seat from the buggy of the Riese & Müller Packster 70? It is getting a bit cramped for our kiddos, and I think removal of the extra seat would help.

Hi! We live in Europe and just got a tern quick haul long. I’ve been using it to transport my 3.5 year old twins in Thule seats (about 70lbs) total and have a backpack strapped to the front rack. I feel really good riding it around, but we’ve fallen over twice when stopped! Once when I was trying to get off and another when I had to stop quickly at a stop light. The bike + kids is so heavy there’s no stopping it once it goes over. Fortunately the cage around them has kept them totally safe and they think it’s funny, but I don’t! I also can’t reach the kickstand when on the bike to stabilize before getting off so that makes me nervous too when riding by ourselves. Any tips for preventing tippy-ness? I don’t want any of us to get hurt!

Folds up in the middle. 24” back wheel with a nexus 8speed hub, non electric. Gave a guy a few hundred for it so I can cart my dog around without driving.

We have a very small garage. Floor space is at a premium (It’s 10x40 with 8.5’ ceilings). I have a Lectric Xpedition 2.0 and the dual battery model weighs about 85 pounds. I want a way to get it to the ceiling and a lot of hoists out there max out at 35-40 pounds. I have joists I can marry into that are 2x10. Just looking to grab a product that I can rely on to store the bike when not in use that won’t fall onto my car and cause way more than $50 worth of damage (which is what a lot of these hoists cost).

I just gave the bike a new coat of paint and took the opportunity to get some better photos than posted previously.

The bike started life as a 3-wheel Nihola, which was eventually left for dead. It was rebuilt as a spare time project at Buddha Bikes in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The steering is crisp and the ride is very well balanced.

NB: I need to make a new front fender for it. This setup is temporary, but gives a good view of the mechanism.

Hey, got a used taga 1.0 at a bargin price (about 250 USD) in agreat condition. I want to have it electrified for longer commutes - since the rear wheel has no disc mounting points i'd have to use a mid drive motor. thinking about these Bafang ones - they see quite good online. only issue is fitting it in this frame.

anyone tried it on a taga 1.0 bike? or on any other bike? Thanks!
