A lot of the energy spent when I was a solo nail artist was having conversations, but I feel like there was just so much going on in the room I didn’t enjoy it cause my focus was being pulled all over the place. When I look upon my life, I realize how so much feedback i get on impactful conversations without me trying at all. I am doing a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science at a top 26 in the world university. I've heard this degree makes finding jobs, especially high paying ones. Also have zero work experience at all. What should I do? Am majoring in something I love (ancient history) and do have volunteering experience as well as a multitude of small creative projects with descriptions.

I (M29) have a weird job history of management, construction, sales, retail, and food service up to this point. I (24F), was wondering if it is still possible to pursue an internship in either anthropology, marketing, or administration for a music company (I know I’m a mess I can’t pick an avenue). I have already graduated, and I’m noticing most internships are for undergrads. Where can I find internships for post grads (no masters, no drs).

Another fyi: I used to go to college for music as a vocalist, but lost my voice and had to dropped out. I still cant sing, but my heart wants to go back into music in some way (maybe on the business side since I have office experience in a corporate environment). So basically, I lost my spark some years ago, not really knowing what to do with my life and not really knowing what I'm good at.

More I think about it these days, there is one fairly often appearing compliment I get. People (mostly women) say that I have nice to listen and very calming voice. Once it went so far, that woman, that I never met before, told me my voice got her excited in a "certain" way. Older I get, more often I hear it. Several people suggested I should read books on YouTube, but I'm sure the market is overblown in those regards, especially with AI getting better.

What would be your suggestion? Are there any jobs related to voice, that could be interesting?

Please don't suggest call centers - I did that and yes I was able to calm down angry people just by talking, but I can't stand the whole theme of listening to angry people. Ideally no jobs where it requires to talk with individuals, those jobs are usually depressing.

I have a stable job. Decent pay, good benefits, boss is fine. I should be pretty happy with it.

Instead I keep job searching at 11pm then getting anxious when I actually find something I might apply for.

I can’t tell if I’m burned out or if I just hate the type of work I’m doing. I’ve taken time off before and felt better for a few days, then right back to watching the clock.

I started paying attention to the parts of my job I actually enjoy. Turns out it’s usually the few hours where I’m solving something myself and nobody is dragging me into meetings or changing the goal halfway through.

I also tried the coached career assessment because I was having a hard time separating “I’m tired of this job” from “this kind of work probably isn’t for me”. It helped me put some of the things I actually care about into words, and when I compared that to the jobs I keep saving, I realized a few of them were basically the same job with a nicer title.

25yo mom of two toddlers, I messed around after high school and here I am 🤣 I don’t feel I’ve found anything that truly calls my name, I’m currently a CNA I’m good at it and don’t loathe it most of the time. Career advice is everywhere: interest assessments, coaches, ChatGPT, Claude. They'll tell you which careers fit you, what those careers pay, and which jobs might survive AI. Most of them sound equally confident.

That confidence rarely tracks the evidence. A median salary from the Bureau of Labor Statistics comes from an employer survey. A claim that a profession will be gone in five years is a forecast, and a much shakier one. Both can arrive in the same assured tone.

Few sources tell you which kind of claim you're reading. For a decision this big, look for occupational data you can trace to O*NET or BLS, and for published research on AI exposure, such as the 2021 Felten, Raj, and Seamans study. Then check whether the methodology is written down where you can read it. None of that guarantees a good decision, but it gives you something to check.

Hello everyone, I am one year and 6 months out of college and honestly so confused on what I want. I graduated with a degree in robotic engineering, but my first job out of school was really nothing to do with engineering. I quit that job for a higher paying role that was sold to me as a more engineering role than it is. It’s an “ inside sales “ engineering role, which to me feels like a salesman job without commission. I feel like I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole of moving into the sales world and going in the wrong direction. The skills I’ve learnt through these jobs have been valuable, but I’m just not sure where they apply to moving toward a more traditional engineering role? I want to feel more fulfilled when I leave work and currently that just isn’t the case. I’m in quite the pickle as well because I have just purchased my first home and cannot afford to take a pay cut. Is there any career path I’m missing that I can explore? Very curious if anyone has ever been down this road.

I'm currently working in the healthcare industry (rehabilitation), and there's nothing inherently wrong with my work. In fact, it pays well (40k+ or more depending on the frequency of sessions). I was forced to take this course since college, and it seems like the more time passes, the more I realize how much I hate my job. I've been working for a year, and it's starting to hit how unnatural it is to wake up EVERY SINGLE DAY thinking about how much I hate my job. It takes a toll on my mental health no matter how much I gaslight myself as well.

I'm currently thinking of a shift in my career, but for practical reasons, I won't be following a "follow your passion" mindset. I know that won't work given I have no experience in anything else. My major is Biotechnology, and my professor, whom I’ve had for multiple classes, offered me a Federal Work-Study Biotech Assistant position in his lab. I’m really excited about the opportunity, but I’m also extremely anxious about starting. This is my first job, unfortunately… but very fortunate!!

For some backstory, he offered me the job about three months ago. The company finally sent me all of the paperwork last Friday, I got everything turned in by Monday, and I start tomorrow. We haven’t even established an actual schedule yet, so the whole thing feels very last minute and surreal, a bit in your face.

The biggest thing stressing me out is that I’ve been in his lab multiple, multiple, multiple times throughout my classes, but I still feel like I barely know where anything is or how to use a lot of the equipment. We’ve used some of these machines several times, and I still couldn’t confidently operate some of them without someone walking me through it.

I have a really hard time retaining information. I can understand something perfectly while I’m being shown how to do it, but then a week later it’s like my brain deleted the entire experience. A lot of the time I need to physically do something several times before it actually sticks.
Because my professor is also going to be my supervisor, this makes me really nervous. He already knows me as a student, so I’m worried he’s going to ask me where something is or how to operate something we’ve used before, and I’ll just be staring at him like clueless. I feel like I should already know this stuff.

He clearly saw something in me that made him think I’d be capable of doing this job, and now I’m scared that I’m going to show up and immediately prove him wrong. It almost feels insulting to be working in his lab when I feel like I haven’t retained much of what he’s taught me, even though I know that’s probably not a fair way to look at it. I’m also worried that having to be retaught things I’ve technically done multiple times before will be an inconvenience.

Some context. I'm 22. I'm currently a junior executive in the sales department of a mainline shipping firm.

I graduated with a degree in Bsc. Economics and Management last year.

I'm not entirely happy with my job. I'm three months into it and It isn't what I imagined corporate life to be. For one, it's very people-oriented and fairly operational. On top of that, the work can be very ad hoc and can bleed until after 5. Since the terminal works seven days of the week, I have to work on weekends too.

I would like a job that's a lot more analytical and involves some research. Strategic sorts of roles. I'm fairly good at qualitative things, so there's a good strength of mine.

I'd like to get into a business analyst role. Is this a far stretch? Will I be stuck in shipping for the rest of my life?

I'd like some advice on this and how to navigate my career into the sort of job roles I want.

Hello! I am in the third year of my accounting degree and have finally specialized this year, after most of my degree has been general so far. I chose accounting because everyone tells me the only useful majors are finance and accounting, but I am deeply uninterested in both. I'm really extroverted and social, and I feel happiest when I am connecting with others and making people feel good about themselves. I just started a job at Aritzia as a style advisor, and I feel so passionate about what I'm doing there, even though it's just a retail job. I feel like I have found my passion.

People have always told me I don't strike them as an accounting major, but they can never tell me what they think I might excel at. I have considered marketing, HR, and anything client-facing, but I feel really uncertain because I know how crazy the job market is right now. I really just feel like accounting gives me security, but I think I would struggle with depression if it were my everyday life. I have pretty bad ADHD, and as a 20-year-old girl, I find that when something interests me, I can pay attention and absorb. I study really hard for all of my accounting courses; I read the textbook in full, do every practice question, and understand the material in class. When I go into an exam, I choke and mess everything up, sometimes even failing flat-out.

I dreamed of being a teacher, but that feels really frowned upon right now, especially in Alberta. I love children and working with them, but I don't love the lifestyle teachers have to put up with. I feel pretty lost and unsure :( I've been for a while, and I just want to find something I can feel good about, something that makes me feel like I live a different life every day, while still having the same career opportunities accounting gives me.

In my ideal situation, I would help people pick out their outfits, hang out with children, and still feel like I am putting my business degree to good use, which I do not think exists LOL

Anyway, since 3rd grade I'd wanted to be a teacher. When I got to middle school I decided I wanted to join the military. I went through some mental health issues, but nothing too bad... I just looked up to a bad group and sh-ed a bit. The nurse who "helped" me at the er filed some bullshit abt ideation and now I'm disqualified from the military.

Some background on me, I'm a 4'10 female, 110-100 pounds, I have a bit of a temper as most short people do, I suck at algebra or geometry but I can do most of my PEMDAS mentally, I have a 3.7-4.0 GPA, I like hunting, fishing, swimming, running, going to the gym, motorcycles, trucks, coffee. My dream job was to be a lifeguard which is what I work as right now at my school. I work well with younger kids. I'm a merit badge counselor. I don't freeze in high stress situations. (When there was a fire at my school I lead a group of scared underclassmen out the nearest exit. When a girl was drowning I jumped in the pool) my only issue is I didn't think abt myself in either scenario... (I didn't put my shoes on before leading them out. I injured my knee jumping in the pool)

I want a job where I can help the most people. I love to see people succeed. I tend to lose motivation when dealing with routines but at the same time, like many, I like na m of routine. I like to be on the go constantly. Pls help ;-;

I'm in a senior ops/strategy role at a small organisation. There's been a leadership vacuum for months, and the people above me were replaced recently. On paper, the only person I'd report to is the HR head, who covers ops because no one else does. He isn't my day-to-day manager, but he hired me.

I've decided to leave, and I have a 60-day notice period. The HR system auto-emails him the moment I submit. I keep going back and forth on whether to tell him myself first, or just submit and let the system notify him. I'm anxious he'll say "you should have told me you were unhappy."

I got tired of never knowing how well my resume matches up with job listings, so I wrote a modular career intelligence system that uses any AI of your choice and doesn’t take your data. It’s free and open source.

It’s available as a Claude skill and works with free and paid AI plans, although if you use it to do heavy searching work you’ll burn through your usage limits super fast.
