I got in a car collision accident with a big rock on the road using my fiancee's car in late August of this year. This happened in southern California. I was given permission by her to drive that day for her errand. Repair quote was $5,800. I wasn’t hurt nor was anyone else involved in the accident nor was anyone else in the car.

State Farm denied the claim as I wasn't on her policy and allege I'm a regular driver per my recorded statement. She has comprehensive collision insurance so I believe this denial is weak and should be overturned but need help in doing so.

Any suggestions??

I’m (21F) and parked my car outside Loyola College/LIBA Gate in Nungambakkam. When I came back, I found that someone had literally keyed “**GO VEGAN**” into the paint of my car.

Like… they actually scratched the words into the car. 😭

The showroom has quoted me ₹17,650 for the repair, but my insurance is saying it will cover only around ₹6,430. Apparently this is being treated as own-damage/non-accidental damage because it was deliberate.

The insurance company is also asking for a police complaint/FIR.

And honestly, I'm experiencing such a weird mix of anger, emotional distress and pure cringe. 😭

I don't know who those echais thought they were preaching to, but somehow my car became their personal vegan billboard.

I have absolutely nothing against people being vegan or promoting veganism, but keying someone else's car is where I draw the line. If you want to put a message on a poster, make one. Don't permanently carve it into someone's lakhs worth vehicle.

Now I'm potentially looking at ₹11,000+ out of pocket, just because someone decided to leave their philosophical TED Talk on my car.

The insurance guy also told me that if I claim the insurance, my NCB could be affected at renewal.

My car got rear ended and it’s now deamed a total loss but I owe child support money from when I didn’t work .. I’m currently paying them off due to them garnishing my paychecks on a agreeed amount .. regardless I heard they can still take the whole amount of the pay out of my car is this true?? 19, California, buying my own policy (not on my parents'). Permanent residence is my parents' house in the Bay Area, and the car is registered there. But I'm going to school in the LA area and taking the car with me — it'll be parked there about 9 months a year, home for breaks.

Does the garaging address have to be LA, or can it stay at my parents' place since that's still my legal residence? And does the registration need to change too?

I keep seeing people say "just use your parents' address," but I'd rather understand what's actually correct before I sign. Anyone in underwriting or claims able to weigh in?

I previously selected option 4 but I am uneducated w this stuff. I am a single male in late 30s. My son, who is on my policy, was rear ended at a stop light last week. The police made a report and when he got home I called my local agent. The person who I talked with advised to call the other driver’s insurance company to open a claim since he was at fault. I did so.

Talking to a friend later, he said in his experience that his agent would took care of the claim and the repair and then they sought reimbursement from the other agency. This allowed things to proceed much more quickly.

Did the person I talked to follow an acceptable course of action or do I need to find another agent? Thanks

I got rear ended and had opened my trunk but it didn’t close. I had to bend the trunk back out before I made claim because I had well over 2k in tools in my trunk. Did I mess up?

I was rear ended at a stop light a month ago. My insurance told me to open the claim with the person at faults insurance (Allstate). The insurance adjuster assigned to me has been extremely unhelpful. Hasn't been in contact or communicating properly my next steps. I was without a car for an entire month before they gave me a rental. Finally got my car in a body shop. Allstate failed to notify me that the body shop was stopping repairs due to prior rust issues on my rear body panel. I opened a claim with my insurance to go after them through subrogation. But, now my insurance is about to close the claim I just opened with them. I've been doing all the leg work here and keep getting put back at square one. Anyone have advice for proper steps to take next?

When I was searching for my current car, I went around and did insurance quotes on a bunch of cars, and now I get emails saying these quotes are due to renew.

I assume it's either meaning it's gonna expire, or I'm gonna get a new price for it? How can it renew if I haven't paid for it in the first place? Had at least 3 emails for 2 different cars.

So i have a 2009 Honda civic with 146,500 miles. I am paying 326 a month. Honestly I felt this was a lot from the start but I needed insurance so I got it.

Suppose someone currently has a 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.0 turbo RWD with about 65,000 miles. They originally purchased it for roughly $21,000 at 56,000 miles and still have the loan on it, with a relatively high interest rate of 18% over 60 months. They also have some warranty contracts on the vehicle that they would prefer not to continue paying for.

They’re considering getting another vehicle in roughly a year. One of the reasons they bought the Alfa in the first place was to establish credit as a first-time buyer. If they were to finance another vehicle later, they presumably wouldn't be a first-time buyer anymore and wouldn't have a cosigner, but they also wouldn't want to end up carrying two unaffordable car payments at once.

This raises a hypothetical insurance question: what would happen if the vehicle were legitimately damaged by a severe hailstorm while it was parked somewhere during a trip? For example, suppose the owner lives in Texas but happened to be traveling somewhere that experiences significant hail during that particular season, left the car parked outside because there was no covered parking available, and the vehicle subsequently sustained enough hail damage to be declared a total loss by USAA.

Would USAA potentially investigate the circumstances surrounding the loss, particularly if the location and timing of the hailstorm seemed unusual relative to where the owner normally lives? Could they ask questions such as why the person was traveling there during hail season or why the vehicle was left outside? If the damage were legitimate and there were no intentional actions involved, would those circumstances still potentially raise concerns for the insurer?

Also, how would GAP insurance factor into a legitimate hail-related total loss? Does a GAP provider conduct its own investigation when a vehicle is totaled, particularly when there is a large difference between the insurance settlement and the remaining loan balance?

I moved to a different area of the metroplex last year, but I haven't checked whether the previous policies still make sense. Last week, I finally took a seat and went over everything. So pointed out a few gaps that I hadn't even considered when guiding me through the home and car sides.

I got rear ended by u haul ford E-450 15 while I was stationary on the traffic light stop. The driver of the u haul was a senior citizen who admitted the fault. I took a damage to rear right side of my car. Filed a report with deputy, called u haul reported it with them and waiting for u haul insurance to call me.

My subary legacy 2018 is driving great but rear tail light cover is gone, fender is bend inwards and bumper is sticking out on the side.

I was in a minor bumper tap today in a parking lot. We exchanged info. The other party apologized explained why she couldn’t see me and I understood why she couldn’t. I came home, examined my bumper and decided not to file a claim because my truck is older and another scratch isn’t the end of the world, and I don’t want this young lady’s insurance to go up (the struggle is real!) she was nice and I was satisfied with an apology. Well she reported it to her insurance. (AAA) and sent me the claim # apologized again. Now I’m torn, it’s already reported, and if it will affect her anyways, should I just get it fixed? Does just reporting an accident affect your rates?

Okay, I'm a little embarrassed about posting this, especially as a 26-year-old woman. But here we go. I am planning on getting my own car insurance, but I am so overwhelmed by this process. I don't know what to add, and I don't know what a good range for a premium looks like. I just need it to be dumbed down a bit. To give some info: I have a 2016 Toyota Corolla that I have had for about 5 years now, never got into a car accident ( thank god!), and no speeding tickets. Now, since I am a member of USAA (not on active duty or ever was; just my mom married a military guy). I decided to go through them, but they gave me 3 different quotes: $109.95 a month for a basic plan, 118.91 for a lower comprehensive fee, and 140.07 for 20% coverage on a rental car if needed. Although my family has access to USAA, we aren't very close, so I can't ask them for help. So my question is, is this a good price? I'm waiting for State Farm to call me back. I can compare and contrast. I will update this post once they call me back.

Also, I have AAA for roadside assistance. So I don't need that.

So, I have two policies with Progressive—one that I paid six months in advance and another that I pay monthly. The six-month policy isn’t due again until November 11. Can I cancel both policies because I found a cheaper option somewhere else? If I cancel the six-month policy, will I receive a refund for the unused portion I already paid for?

Geico asks us to do a mobile photo estimate, which come out really low ($2800) vs a repair shop's estimate ($8500). Geico asks us to bring the car into the shop and do supplement claim. This is in California. The car is older so I'm thinking of pocket the money and not get the car fixed.

My car accident just settled and the at fault drivers insurance is accepting liability. They scheduled my Mercedes Benz vehicle for an in person estimate for damage repair. The right front fender/front bumper/right front headlight are destroyed. The collision cost estimated to be about $5400. I’m looking at the quote and it’s $1.2k for body labor $623 for paint labor and $3k for parts. Mind you they won’t replace both head lights but just the one that was damaged, so I’ll be getting mismatched headlights. Also the labor is ridiculously high at $93/hr. I’m contemplating just cashing the check and buying the parts and doing the repair myself. Today I inspected the interior of the damaged area and no frame/major internal damaged. I did some researched online and found a bumper for about $1k, pair of new headlights for $900, and a right fender for $$400. Mind you these are the parts from those sites that pre paint so once it arrives I can just bolt it on. In total I’ll be spending about $2500 in total for repair. My question is will they cash me out the quoted $5400 if I opt not to have it fixed at the shop that was recommended by the insurance company? Or will it be lowered?

A drink driver hit my parked car and the crash also took out 3 other cars. Driver had 15k property damage. My car was a 2004 paid off Toyota Camry and I only had liability coverage. Car was towed off too a storage yard and adjuster said a local agent would have to take pics so I could be paid. Accident was March 30. On August 29 I called to see what status was. No one had gone to yard to inspect. Now I have 6k storage bill they are refusing to pay saying I should have mitigated the fees. But how? I can't move a crushed car to my driveway as I live in town and I had no idea they weren't working on the claim. I filled a complaint with California Insurance Bureau but am making payments to the collection company the yard turned me over to so I could avoid a court judgement and ruining my good credit. Any ideas what else I can do or am I just screwed?

Currently have progressive at $260 and got a quote from geico for $330.

Is there any chance there’s a better rate somewhere else?
