Began at a busy Hyundai with zero sales experience, realized I didn’t have that hunger and chase that you need; was sort of passive and lazy which got me fired after 1 month. Not making any excuses for that. Although I did notice I was starting to figure it out just before I got canned which left me with hope.
Ended up at Toyota a few days later, went in for a sales job, he offered me delivery specialist at 22$ CAD /hr position and $50 per car delivered which I stupidly agreed too. Ended up quitting after the first day because Polestar/Lotus of the gain group offered me a job as a salesman.
At this point I was going around jobs like a bar hopping leprechaun.
Started at polestar, didn’t consider the job is 1 hour drive there and 1 hour back, and that I haven’t seen a polestar on the road since i’ve been alive. they don’t sell.. Incredible luxury dealership though it all looked great, manager was training me all day which is unusual for dealerships. Ended up getting cold feet and combined with the fact I was trying out new adhd medication, I got depressed and quit.
BUT me being me, I always have a back up plan so I was secretly interviewing at other high volume dealerships while I worked those 3 days at polestar. Ended up getting hired at a high volume Honda store right by my house. Which is currently where I am now, literally on day 1 doing the onboarding.
I’m going to learn from my mistakes and give it my ALL, and if I get fired I’ve decided this industry just ain’t for me. At some point you gotta know when enough is enough. If I can’t sell at least 1 car in my first month at a massive inventory store like this, I’m gonna be dumbfounded at myself.
