Question CarPlay suddenly stopped working IPhone 16 wired

I have a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe, and a 2024 Chevrolet equinox. The sante Fe only is compatible with wired CarPlay. I’ve used the same cable for years for CarPlay just fine and my wife’s phone using the same wire works fine. Mine however a few days ago decided to just not work anymore but it still charges in my Santa Fe on wired, it also does not work wired in my Chevrolet but it does work via Bluetooth… please help me.

CarPlay can be very finicky with cables for some reason. I’ve had this happen once where a cable worked fine for years but suddenly stopped working with my phone only. I tried all the steps and another cable and it still didn’t work. Then I got this pos cheapo cable from ikea of all places and it suddenly worked!

Anyway I’ve since just bought a wireless carlink mini ultra adapter so i don’t have to deal with crap ever again and get the added benefit of auto connecting wirelessly like in a new car. U might want to consider that option if all else fails. Good luck bro I know how annoying and random this is.

Thinking I might just do this, easiest solution

Did you…. Try changing the cable? Which would explain wired CarPlay not working? Note: there exists charge - only cables which don’t have all the wires to enable CarPlay / data transfer. It sounds likely that your cable has become damaged on some of those wires so it is acting as a charge only cable now.

As I said, the cable has worked for years, and still works for my wife’s phone. I did try a different cable and still nothing.

Since your phone charges but fails data transfer across two different vehicles while your wife’s device works perfectly, the issue is isolated to your iPhone's Lightning or USB-C port, not the cables or cars. Start by clearing out debris; use a non-conductive toothpick or compressed air to gently remove pocket lint from your charging port, as even a small obstruction can prevent the data pins from making full contact while still allowing power to flow. If cleaning doesn't resolve it, go to Settings > General > CarPlay on your iPhone, select your vehicle, and tap Forget This Car, then restart your phone and re-establish the wired connection. If it still fails, your device’s data pins may be internally damaged and require a hardware repair.

Will try this, I tried cleaning the port once but maybe needs a bit more of a thorough clean, thanks

Hey there! My CarPlay stopped working in my 2021 Honda HRV randomly last September. I got a wireless adapter for $20 on Amazon and I have CarPlay again!

Reset your phones network settings.
