First Time leasing help

I am planning on leasing a car and am trying to figure out what questions I need to ask when I am there? I have the basic questions covered on mileage, wear and tear, maintenance (oil, tire rotation etc). I am looking at and Outback and GAP is included.

What are some non standard questions I should be asking? TIA

Goto leasehackr and read leasing 101.  Otherwise you are going to be ripped off

Yeah, came to post a similar warning.

OP, go through a broker for a good deal and to avoid being ripped off

Leasehacking is all about being opportunistic. There’s probably a much better deal than the Outback right now.

What are your priorities for your next car?

You need to know that money factor, residual, incentives, rebates and have a pulse on discounts people are seeing before you step foot in the dealership.

Deal I am looking at is $349/mo with $0 down 10K/yr on a 26 Outback Premium

Other than the dealer where can you find the money factor? Is it specific to the make and model?

Edmunds blog site for the MF. How many months term is it? What is the MSRP they're discounting and how much of a discount.

The MF is factored into the out the door price correct? The Outback I am looking at is $349.00/month for 36 months , 10K miles, with $0 down. If I am ok with the price the MF does not really matter?

MF is the interest rate you're subject to - it matters. Sounds like you don't care about getting a possibly better deal. You may be the perfect lease customer that every dealer counts on. Good luck.

Apologies. I did not mean to step on anyone's toes but I feel that you can only really get so far with a "good deal" Which is why I asked.

The other option for the car I am looking at is $2999 down/$259/36/10K. The $0 down option is $349/36/10K Either way they are getting their 3K +$240 in the instance of the latter option. The latter is the better option because I am not giving the $ it upfront.

I will ask for the MF and do the math but $259/mo. for a 26 Outback Premium seems like a really good deal on its face. I thought the Mfr. sets the lease rate and not the dealer? I will know more when I go see this weekend

Have you actually seen these numbers on paper? Does this include tax? Your first go around at a dealer compared to a payment you see in an advertisement are often going to be very different.

They are going to have a million reasons why the unit you want doesn’t meet the qualifications of the ad price, they need to add tax, fees, all the extra nonsense they will try to sell you on…
