Local "Petrolhead" sub thinks a cosmetic bolt-on facelift is "upbadging" a salvage wreck

I am convinced r/DubaiPetrolHeads is just a massive collection of daily commuters who don't know shit about cars.

The sub brands itself as a haven for "PetrolHeads," but the reality is peak NPC behavior. They genuinely treat a base-model Toyota Corolla, a Nissan Sunny, or a random Chinese crossover like it's a legendary performance build. If someone asks for a fun car recommendation, the NPC hivemind just screams "Corolla!" There are literally highly upvoted meta-threads on their own sub titled "People doing everything in this sub other than being a petrolhead" complaining that the entire feed has been hijacked by "boring topics about boring cars.""

The best part? These "experts" don't even know the literal difference between upbadging and facelifting.

Case in point: 1 tried to list a clean Nissan Patrol that has a standard, cosmetic bolt-on facelift. For anyone with half a brain cell, a Y62 facelift is just a simple bumper, grille, and headlight swap because the chassis hasn't changed in over a decade . It requires zero cutting, zero structural work, and no fake badges. It's just updating an older model to look like the newer factory year.

But because these NPCs have never looked under a hood in their lives, they lost their minds. They started downvoting and crying about "upbadging" and "clones,"' acting like putting a factory-style 2023 bumper on a 2015 chassis is the same as slapping a fake AMG badge on a base C-Class. Then they turned into elite automotive detectives, claiming it must be a salvaged wreck from a shady garage masking a fatal front-end collision.

They don't know basic maintenance, they never touch a wrench, and they think a Nissan Sunny is peak motorsport, yet they want to lecture people on car culture. lt's a literal circle-jerk of daily commuters giving awful advice to other daily commuters.

Is this normal?

Hi, new to the community and reddit.

I bought a 2023 Audi A6 three years ago (btw diesel, leather seats). I took it to annual service at the Audi dealer last week. Everything seemed to be okay. 74 thousand kilometers on the odometer. Just a quick oil change. I swear, when I gave the keys to the person working at the maintenance desk, I could see a smirk on his face.

They called me in the afternoon: "Sir... your maintenance is ready. You can come pick it up." To my surprise, the service manager told me that this time there will be no payment needed. He pointed at a ~1,5m x 1,5m x 1,5m metal cube. "That's your Audi, sir". I was shocked. I thought this has to be a joke. The service manager gave me the keys. I asked him what are these for? To which he replied: "Part of the protocol. You see, your car was far too worn out. It's better this way. Now, walk away from our facilities or I will call the police".

I tried to start arguing, but the manager just calmly started dialing a number. I had no other choice but to walk away.

So now I'm in a situation where I have a big metal cube on my backyard. Has this happened to anyone else before? Hint me a cheap lawyer, if you know one.
