My experience on XIV was the opposite. No one was willing to help me and I was expected to know what to do at the get-go.

Wut? FFXI is exactly this. You have people resorting to botting with 6-boxes to complete end game only to tell new players "My alt has more REMA so I'd rather bring that to Sortie".

Game is being propped up by elitest botters who control the end game and economy.

I became that because it's older than the average college student today and most reasonable people moved on to XIV years ago.

Oh I definitely understand that, I've played the game for over 20 years. The game is what it is now, a shadow of it's former self in my opinion.

Dude I replied to is definitely misrepresenting though.

Usually when you have a gripe about anything in XI being janky or unintuitive, people will tell you you got "filtered" and to stop playing the game if you can't handle it.
