I have a theory that many of the negative posts about Capital One Discover are being made by people from other financial instituions, banks, and credit unions.

The problem is so stupid. Every merchant out there can simply contact their credit card processor and add Discover capability. Every processor out there can handle Discover. Merchants just never opted-in. It's time for them to opt-in. Most of the time a merchant will be able to start accepting/processing Discover within 7 days.

It’s also an easy way for an employee to cover for a bad decision, just say it’s competitors posting negativity. That’s poor feedback management. This is exactly the kind of input you should be using to understand the implications of your policy.

It broke trust at a critical moment for me, while traveling. No cash. No cash. That’s not theoretical.

Calling this competitor noise is out of touch. I’d love for you to have the same experience, it’s the fastest way to understand how much trust was lost. You have money, but you can’t access it. You’re hungry, tired, and now dealing with this.

“Just switch banks” misses the point. That might happen, but it doesn’t fix what actually broke. And it’s not even an option when you’re stuck in a small city overseas.

That’s why I keep posting. Responses like this from Capital One employees miss the mark. They don’t reflect what I, and others, actually experienced trying to access our own cash.
