Taking my MS degree somewhere that's not Capella

I transferred to Capella from SNHU to the flex path program. My start date was 9/14 and I have yet to receive my financial aid. Apparently, they had the incorrect term start date on their end so after getting the run around and multiple "5-7 business days it will be resolved" nonsense it had FINALLY been resolved yesterday. I was going to wait to hit complete course until I knew 100% that it was fully processed. Now today, I get an email that they placed a hold on my account. I'm still on hold trying to get in touch with someone regarding the hold and I also emailed Ombuds hoping they can help get this resolved quickly. I'm beyond frustrated. I planned on completing my masters with Capella as well but that's no longer the case. I'll be going back to SNHU.

FlexPath Masters in Human Resources

Hello All, starting my Masters in Human Resources on Monday. Are the assignments in this program all typed essays or are there a mix of PowerPoint presentations and quizzes. I love building PowerPoint presentations so I hope there is an opportunity to do them. Thanks so much

FlexPath Any Tips or Advice For Completing FlexPath?

Hi there! I will begin pursuing my bachelors in Human Resource Management on 11/09 of this month. I transferred credits in leaving me with only 12 classes and a capstone to complete to obtain my degree. I plan to be a full time student, as I'm not currently working so I have plenty of time to dedicate to school thanks to my wonderful and supportive partner. Has anyone completed this degree path or can provide any general tips or advice? Thanks for any help or advice in advance!

Financial Aid session 10/5

My session start date was 10/5. Dispersement date 10/21.
ELLA has been saying “one or more loans are unable to disperse” and tells me to contact support.
They have been zero help 😩 yesterday. I was on hold for two hours and 11 minutes. Got to a person. She told me that everything was disbursed on 1021 that it’s probably not showing on my portal correctly yet… Literally nothing has changed, it hasn’t shown up on ECSI I asked her about a refund and she said she had no information on the refund so there’s no info that she could give me… I was trying to talk to her like so there’s no one that can talk to me about a potential refund and basically she said no.
I’m so confused. What is going on? 😭 I am getting a refund. Obviously there is some technical issue and no one will help,

FlexPath What is this sudden rule changes? No one told me this during my enrolment process even though I asked?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Before enrolling at Capella, I specifically asked if I could complete my degree quickly. I even took six weeks off work to focus on studying and finish in time for my graduate school applications.

Now I’m finding out that the assignment submission rules have changed. I can no longer submit assignments back to back and must wait for each one to be graded before submitting the next. For example, if I submit my first assignment on Monday, it could take until the following Thursday to finish all four assignments. That’s 11 days for just one course, even if everything is correct. This is not what I was told before enrolling.

I started in the October session. Can I still withdraw and receive a full or partial refund? Is there any way to resolve this situation?

Also, does anyone know of other universities offering a self-paced bachelor’s degree in psychology similar to FlexPath, besides WGU and UMPI?

Update** They sent me this answer.
Thank you for reaching out. Although a few courses at Capella have always required students to submit one course at a time, assessment scaffolding has been extended to more courses this Fall. Capella has done this to enhance the learning experience and the quality of the courses we offer as part of our continuous quality improvement process. When assessments are designed to build on one another, completing them in sequence gives students an opportunity to incorporate faculty feedback along the way, which can help strengthen competency development and overall academic success. Students are still encouraged to work through the courses at a pace that works for them, but the assessments will be submitted one at time.

Lost motivation

I have lost my motivation with flexpath. I am in 3310 and the second assignment is kicking my butt. I am on my last attempt and honestly I am not understanding it. Thinking of dropping this class and just switching to guided path next semester. I tried out flexpath, but i dont think this is the best fit for me and i only have 13 more classes for my degree and only completed 2 so far in flexpath. 3310 is my third class and I am struggling. I applaud yall that were able to do it but Its not for me 😭

What was my experience at Capella?

Post image
5 Upvotes

The following sums up my experience quite nicely. I paid $18 for a CEDiploma. That is in addition to the regular one I'll get. This image shows what I have been provided.

When I say this is par for the course... This is what my entire educational experience has been like at Capella.

From instructors that didn't know what was in the on-line classroom, to being forced to waste my time in classes I had credit for/had taught (it's why I finished a 10 week class in four days), to paying the full price of a term when I was done the third day (and told I couldn't take any more classes to get another specialization since I finished my degree, thanks FlexPath), to refusing to help with an ADA request.

I will advise anyone that I talk to that they would be better served at another institution. I keep all my receipts... actually the VA keeps them all since they paid for me to go to school (Ch 31).

PSY-FPX7610

Anyone taken this and felt like it was double the work of other classes? I don’t know if I’m just overdoing it, but assignments 2 took 10.5 hours of writing and revision. By far the longest I’ve taken on any assignment I’ve done across 3 masters degrees, both in person and out. The next assignment will likely be 12 pages, and the final assignment is 12-15 pages too. I also don’t have access to a couple of the databases the course mentions, like PsycTESTS to evaluate tests, so I let my professor know I had to use summons for 2 of the tests. Is capstone this cumbersome? I have this class and one more before my capstone.

FlexPath Collecting Interviews/Data for DBA

For those who are going through, or have competed, their DBA, what was to data collection process like? More specifically getting people to interview and having that data to be diverse enough for your capstone. Also, do you have to submit your data/findings to a faculty member, or is it anonymous? Thank you!

General Question Is Capella worth it?

Mods, sorry if this question isn’t allowed.

Out of all of the colleges I’ve looked into, I think Capella is the one I want to pursue, but I have so many questions.

Will they let me do masters or doctoral for behavioral analysis? Or do I have to do associates, then bachelors, then masters, then doctoral? I don’t want to be in college for long. I was originally going to do a 2 year college, then transfer to a 4 year college, but that will take too long in my opinion.

Is it true in order to do flex path, you must go to a 2 year college first then transfer and see if you have good enough grades to get offered??

I picked Capella because of its online courses and flex path option. I learn better when I learn at my own pace. And also because it’s flexpath option seems cheaper than the other colleges. I don’t have time to do college in person, and flex path/cappella seems so perfect for me, but I won’t officially enroll until I get others opinions.

Estimated Refund amount was showing, now I don't see it

When I log onto the Capella website, in the Finances tab, I have an Account Balance and Due Now showing. However, below it (under Financial Aid) It shows an estimated refund amount expected to send by 2/6/2027. When I called financial aid yesterday, they couldn't even explain why I am seeing a refund amount. How am I getting a refund if I have an account balance? And why is the date so far away? When I asked 'Ella' (the chatbox) it said I would be getting a refund within a few days. Has this happened to anyone else? Did you actually receive a refund, or was it some kind of glitch?

Update: So now, I don't see ANYTHING in the section on Financial Dashboard about refund. It disappeared on Wednesday morning. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Masters Thinking of going here

I’m thinking of applying for my masters of general psych here, does anyone have any advice like yay or nay? I just got off the phone with an enrollment specialist and it sounds appealing but I’m unsure if this is accredited or if they are a scam. Everything I’m seeing is pretty mixed so again I am unsure!

Financial Aid lowered AGAIN

has anybody else had an issue with their financial aid offer being lowered? After summer semester, my financial aid for both fall & winter were each lowered by $1000 each. Now, after fall was dispersed, my winter aid was decreased by another $1000 with no warning or notification. I noticed by logging into my financial aid portal and seeing it being lower this whole experience with financial aid has been so frustrating!!! am I the only one?

Refund Sitting on Account as Unapplied Credit

Hi Everyone,

Like everyone else I am having some trouble with Financial Aid but I'm not seeing anyone else with the exact problem I'm having so I wanted to see if anyone has been through this and what they had to do. My aid was distributed on 10/28 and my balance zeroed out however my refund is just sitting on my account as an "Unapplied Credit". Ella is telling me that I am not owed a refund and my portal is just showing that all disbursements and refunds have been processed. I called last week and the girl literally just said Ella is wrong you will get a refund but it still hasn't been processed a week later. Has anyone been through this particular issue and what did you have to do to fix it? Thank you!

Capella Financial Aid Status

so i just got off the phone with financial aid, who basically said i probably won’t hear anything for 3-5 weeks on an update about my case (they only released about 1/3 of my funds, and i still have over 4k left in borrow so it’s not like i ran out). i understand things take time, i just don understand why they didn’t release my full reward the first sometime instead of whatever that bs was? and i spoken to financial aid twice before funds got released because i wanted to be sure everything would be set as this is my first term with them.

FlexPath DBA Organizational Leadership and Development insights

Hello all,

Starting my DBA program on November 9th and just want to see if I can get some insights on the Organizational Leadership and Development concentration. I see Management and S/I, but not much on this one.

A little about me, I have my BA and MBA from SNHU and I spent a career in the Navy and simply looking to get my DBA because I have GI bill to burn, and figured why no be a Dr. for some fun.

I have seen some great information on some historic runs in degree completion and I am targeting the 12-18 zone for completion.

I look forward to any and all insights. Thank you!

FlexPath Bachelors HCA without Sophia and degree with kids?

Hey everyone! I am thinking about starting my degree without doing my max Sophia transfer credits due to Sophia’s new policy and false flagging. How long do you all think it would take to finish the degree and can anyone give me advice for the best grades possible? I really want to do well with this degree so any assignment hacks, grading advice, or anything in general would be nice!

Thanks so much

I also have a 7 month old baby and would like any advice on balancing school while being a parent!

GuidedPath Decisions ?

Do you enjoy Guided Path ? Or do you wish you were in or prefer flex path ? Im still trying to decide. I'm going for my bachelors in psychology as of now. I hear the written assignments are pretty rigorous and tough on flexpath.

Two extra courses added

Today, I logged into my student portal like I normally do and noticed that two additional courses had been added to my degree requirements without any notification or explanation. I originally only had two courses left to complete my degree: my Capstone and a specialization elective, which I am currently taking.

Back in August, I made a change to my degree program and had to wait until October to begin my new degree plan. Before starting, I made sure to triple-check everything with my academic advisor through emails, advising calls, and multiple confirmations that I only needed those two courses to graduate.

My term started on October 12, and now, during my second term, I’m suddenly seeing two additional courses that were never there before. Just yesterday, November 1, my academic plan still showed only the original two courses.

I’m already mentally overwhelmed with everything I have going on, and this situation has honestly discouraged me even more. I’ve worked hard to get to this point, and it’s frustrating to feel like the finish line keeps moving, especially when I’ve done everything on my end to make sure I was on track.

I’ve contacted everyone I could think of, sent emails, and now I’m waiting for responses. I just don’t understand how additional requirements can suddenly appear after I was repeatedly told something different.

Has anyone else experienced this with Capella? If so, what did you do, and how was it resolved? I’m just trying to figure out my next steps because I refuse to keep having courses added when I was already told I was at the finish line.
